Room was massive, hotel was a really nice old building. Receptionist was lovely. Hotel was miles better than I was expecting from some of the other reviews and really good value for money.

Some of the corridors could have done with a bit of a spruce up, but the room and the main areas of the hotel were nice and the stairway/reception area was very characterful so not even that negative tbh.

The room was nice and big and the bathroom was lovely and warm, The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of places to sit with our friends in the evening, we didn't have to sit in a busy, noisy bar. The breakfast on the first day was excellent as we could order what we wanted because the hotel was quiet. It was a buffet on the second day but that was pretty good too. The view from our room on the top floor was excellent and it only took 5 minutes to walk down from the hotel into the town. The private car park is great tooo.

I specifically asked for a room with a bath when I phoned a few days before we arrived but it was a room with a shower cubicle. By the time we'd carried our cases a long way almost to the end of the hotel, I didn't feel like carrying them back down to reception to ask to change rooms and as the room was very nice apart from that, we stayed put.

Room upgraded to nice sea view,large and comfortable if a little sparsely furnished,very warm throughout stay during very cold weather,bathroom with large shower was fine if a little cool as no radiator other than heated towel rail.Breakfast choice was fine,staff throughout hotel friendly and helpful

Hotel does seem to be still refurbishing some areas but did not affect our part of the hotel or dining/bar areas.You have to be careful with on street parking near the hotel as some areas are free 31st October to 1st March but others still require disc to be purchased,however the signs are good on each street and road

The sea view room was a good size and the bed was comfortable, good size bathroom with a powerful over head shower, clean towels provided, the room was a bit cool but clean, plenty of storage and chairs to sit on, even had an electric heater. Staff where always pleasant and helpful. Gluten free options for breakfast and evening meal, just ask the staff when they show you to your table. I am celiac and had no problems after eating their meals, even had gluten free Peroni in a bottle at the bar.

Hotel is being renovated at the moment so some areas are closed off including the lift but they will take your bags to the room. Scaffolding was being erected for the roof to be fixed, so we had the scaffolders walking up and down outside our seaview window for 2 days. Having to walk through the small bar as reception doors were inaccessible due to the main doors closed, kept dodging painters, this is not a complaint in any way as the hotel needs updating. staff ensured all areas are kept clean and free from dust. We had prior knowledge from the hotel about the lift but not about the renovations being carried out.

View from the room was fine as it overlooked the the sea , however the hotel is undergoing some upgrading so plenty of scaffolding ,at least they are trying , there wasn't many mains sockets in the room two were behind the bed so would suggest travellers take an extension lead and adaptors to charge usb devices , we ate at the hotel both breakfast and the evening meal were excellent as were the staff , the bar is well stocked if you like real ale as i do there are 8 cask pumps on, and the staff are helpful in the bar as well .

As mentioned before, the lack of accessible plug sockets and no usb changing points , also got to mention the parking the hotel says parking is possible on site and to be fair it is , but unlikely it's very limited , we parked in the pay zones opposite it costs currently £7.90 for 8 hrs and is chargeable between 9am and 7 pm so factor this into your costs , it's more of a council thing than the hotel , don't park in the disc zones as it's limited to around 3 hrs.

The location was excellent. Within walking distance of the train station and all the places we wanted to visit - the beach, the abbey, the harbour. The view from our room was amazing. The hotel was huge with plenty of space for everyone to spread out. There was a ballroom, a lounge, a restaurant and a bar. The breakfast buffet was similar to other hotels as far as the food was concerned but the location was spectacular. Three newly decorated rooms. Our room was large and with all the facilities you’d expect - TV, kettle, tea and coffee, and a hairdryer. The bathroom had both a bath and shower giving us the choice. The location was also quiet so we slept well.

The hotel was undergoing a renovation which we weren’t expecting. We’d love to go back when it’s finished as the bits that had been done looked amazing. The work was only minimally disruptive with the biggest problem being the lift being out of action. The only other minor thing was the lack of a hot drinks machine for breakfast. It would have been nice to have the option of a latte or a hot chocolate.

Our room was beautiful, withba sea view over Whitby, and recently refurbished with a large bathroom including a full sized bath. There was entertainment on both nights that we stayed and the breakfast each morning was of really high quality and self serve. An excellent hotwl with amazing staff. We will defintiely be back!

The only down side was that refurbishments were being completed on the hotel, so had to be careful with wet paint on walls on the stairs and doors and the lift was out of order. However, we were aware of this weeks before our stay and were even given a room on a lower floor as my partner found it difficilt climbing many flights of stairs. Manager was excellent and couldn't have done any more for us!

Staff were all so approachable, professional, and friendly at all points of contact. Spacious room with superb views. Very clean. Excellent shower. Lift wasn't available due to refurbishment but quickly relocated an accessible room. We parked right outside with a blue badge, which was extremely convenient! We would DEFINITELY return here. Thank you for a wonderful time to a great team!

Many steps up to access the restaurant. Would have liked some decaffeinated options re tea/coffee in our room. (Admittedly, we didn't ask for any). We did have a problem with our room lock and got locked in, but this was quickly responded to, and we were perfectly reassured.

This hotel is undergoing a bit of a refurbishment at the moment, the reception area was being worked on when we were there, and the whole building is covered in scaffolding, having said this, it did not make any difference to us. Our room was fantastic with a sea view, the bar area was quite pleasant and the Breakfast was spot on. It will be great when all the work is finished. One special point of interest I must state was the absolute helpfulness of the lady on the reception desk, she definitely went the extra mile in service to us and is a great Ambassador for your front of house.

Communication between staff regarding taking food orders that must be Gluten Free when asked for. more attention in this area please.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, we stayed in the new family room which was lovely, we was really impressed with the extra bedroom, for our little boy. The new bar was wonderful, we had a few ales before we sat down at the restaurant. The food was absolutely beautiful, best place I’ve eaten for a while, we had some lovely wine from the wine list and the service was excellent from walk in the hotel to leaving. We had breakfast in the morning which again was beautiful. We can’t wait to be back!! it’s having a lot of work done, but with all the wonderful things, you ignore the work on the refurbishment. Can’t wait to see the end! I know we will be back this summer
