This hotel is truly a secret gem in Assisi! The owner, Senora Leandra Laudenzi, is a most gracious and endearing hostess. She oversees the daily activities of the hotel and is exceptionally attentive to ensuring every guest feels at home throughout their stay. The Front Office staff of Paula and Marco were exceptionally helpful in advising and assisting with local tour arrangements. The Front Desk Manager, Carlo, is the very definition of "hospitality"! His advice on restaurants, including a brief guide on Italian cuisine, made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast service manager, Anna, was also exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ensuring you were completely satisfied with your meal. The croissants were incredible, and the ever-flowing chocolate Nutella was a very sweet touch to the breakfast smorgasbord. But it is the ambiance of the hotel that is most remarkable and unforgettable! The garden perugula offers a serene respite after a day of walking the town. And the upper terraces offer spectacular views across the entire Assisi valley, with vistas of 40 or more miles. The rooms are large, air-conditioned, and spotless! Overall, the hotel is so exceptionally comfortable that you will never want to leave - it's that cozy!!!! Located at the top of the town, right off the plaza of the MInerva temple - I found this hotel to be a very charming sanctuary in the blessed town of Assisi!

The hotel was in a central location...accessed through an arch and down a historic alleyway and so very quiet. We had the wonderful surprise of being allocated a room with a balcony and views! The entrance to the hotel is very welcoming especially the delightful plant covered terrace with views across rooftops to the countryside.

The upside of the hotel that it is quiet and hidden, is also a bit of a downside as the parking is complicated...especially the day when we arrived and the roads were closed. The staff helped us in every way possible.

The location, immediately off the central piazza of Assisi, was perfect. It was the perfect point for exploring every part of the historic city. The setting is full of character and interest and places to chill. The room was very spacious, and nicely furnished in a traditional Italian style. The windows on each of three walls of our room offered marvellous vistas, and loads of light, which every visitor to Italy desires. The staff were very helpful. There was a lot of spaces available around the outside grounds of the hotel to relax in - with fantastic views. The breakfast was very good.

nice breakfast. great location. staff is professional and very pleasant. hard to find the hotel your first time first time you arrive. i love good 3*** hotels because they are personal and low key. Hotel Umbra meets those expectations. the staff easily dealt with my changing reservation dates. Hotel Umbra is a nice hotel.

the internet was very slow at times. i was trying to do a little work and it could be frustrating. i am not certain if that is just unusual and not the norm.

Location perfect near the main square, close to absolutely everything. The breakfast room is lovely with a large variety offered. Staff were very attentive and looked after me very well after the accident in the lane as I was arriving. Having a bath was a great treat and helped with injury recovery.

Although there was an air conditioner it barely worked and the little fridge was not cold. Temperatures were extremely hot and desperately needed the room to be cooler. Would have been lovely to have a kettle and tea available in the room for a before bed or breakfast cup of tea (or coffee).

The location, lovely patio with a view and the exceptionally welcoming, friendly and informative staff made our stay particularly good in this very special place. The room was pleasant, spacious and functional. This hotel has been our favourite in Italy!

We weren’t immediately offered a room with a view and this is important in this beautiful hilltop village. The breakfast choices were a bit limited ( good pastries but processed cheese and runny scrambled eggs), more fresh fruit and real granola would be better.

Everything was great, location excellent and right in the middle of Assisi. Room large, bed comfortable and breakfast had lots of options. Staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend. Note - Parking is outside the town walls so you have to walk but there is a lift. Thankfully we didn’t have large suitcases! This is likely the issue with all the hotels in Assisi though! You can drive in to drop your luggage by hotel (which is down a short alley) but roads are narrow and full of people (in late Sept when we visited).

While this is a more simple, somewhat dated hotel, the room was a great size for three occupants. While the bathroom was small, as was the shower, we had ample hot water for showers. The front desk staff was so helpful and the breakfast, which was included, was exceptional from traditional full breakfast items to a large variety of pastries. THe location is excellent- a few steps from the historical piazzas and churches, yet it was very quiet in our hotel room at night. This is an excellent hotel from which to experience all the sites of Assisi.

While the hotel itself is slightly dated, its staff and accommodation proximity to sites were excellent during our stay, so I really did not see any concerning negatives to our stay. Definitely would book again at this hotel for its convenience and wonderful staff.

The room was very comfortable and spacious. The location in the heart of Assisi was as good as it gets. The lounging areas were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and English was not an issue

The room didn't have a kettle or coffee maker. This was inconvenient. We could go and ask the staff to allow us access to the breakfast area.. Unfortunately the breakfast left a lot to be desired. There were minimal choices and the eggs were not appealing at all. For such a wonderful hotel it was disappointing.

The location of the hotel is amazing and although it is central, it was very quiet at night. The bedding and furniture are a little dated but the ambiance of the old place, the generous room and airy space, the comfortable spaces outside my room where I could relax and the view from my balcony more than made up for any deficits. Breakfast service and variety were very good. I would happily stay here again.
