The front desk person was delightful, friendly and fun. The property itself was quaint, yet tidy and well-maintained. I frequent Marriott hotels that are slick and very corporate. This has a very down-home feel which I actually prefer over corporate and there was nothing lacking. Particularly appreciated the hominess of the lobby with the fireplace and sitting area to commune with friends and the wild turkeys in the driveway. I will stay there again on my next visit to Cambria.
We had a downstairs room. The upstairs people were a little noisy but given that it’s an old building, it really wasn’t a problem.

Nice idea for an inn to reuse old house as the Reception. Comfortable, with parking in front of the door and a clean room. Has a fridge, office, iron and tea.
Outdoor facilities could be better used. Back area is empty although has great potential. Also, the front with the pit fire was closed. You could have it open with a selection of wines and/or wine food as a next-level experience. You could also partner with local locations for breakfast for an enhanced experience. There was noise at some point in the room above but that was solved with a call. Floors are wooden so you should not have a light sleep.

Excellent and friendly staff… I’m spacing on her name (oops), I believe Brandy - WONDERFUL personality!! Couldn’t ask for a more welcoming reception. Lots of hospitality and was informed with everything I needed to know about my room and the town. Very helpful. A+ service thank you Ps Linn’s Restaurant just down from the Bluebird has to-die-for homestyle raspberry chocolate cake! Insane. A MUST!
If I have to “pick” a little, I’d say at least 1 (ideally 2) regular sized water bottles provided in the room at no additional charge (complimentary) would be the icing on the cake. I like to have fee-free water handy (late night thirst, lots of walking the town, etc) :)

Great location with lots of shops/restaurants within walking distance. Staff is hit or miss. The person who checked us in was surly, but the next morning the woman at the desk was super nice and helpful. The room was large and clean and had fridge and microwave. The bathroom was clean, large and everything looked new.
There was a tiny slot to hang clothes and ZERO drawer space. No bureau, chest of drawers, shelves, NOTHING. You had to live out of your suitcase. They also provided only one luggage rack, so one of us had our suitcase on the floor - ick!

You must understand that this is a vintage hotel. It's lobby is a throw back to the 60's and the rooms, though updated, are on the smaller side. But we don't go to hang out in our room. We're there to see the sights, shop and go wine tasting. The offer early morning coffee and late night tea and games. There is a fire pit out front that lends itself well to sipping a recent wine purchase. There is also an EV charging station right at the property and as new EV owners, this is a bonus.
I can't think of anything that wasn't perfect. We are retired and our trips are mid week which means there are fewer guests so the property stays nice and quiet.

We loved the vintage vibe. The indoor lobby fireplace as well as the outdoor fireplace were so cozy on the cold morning and evening. The bed was comfortable, and the complimentary shower shampoo and conditioner was actually quite nice. As new EV car owners, the perk we love now is the charging station on site. The short walk to Redwood Cafe for breakfast was an added bonus.
Mid week meant only a few guests on site. We were on the bottom floor, and later that evening, guests arrived upstairs. Perhaps you could have put them at the other end or at least a few more doors down?? Seriously. 4 cars in the lot and you put someone right above us?!!

Such an adorable place! Everything in town was within walking distance: coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, the shuttle to the Christmas Market with the millions of lights. Room 10 with a separate kitchen was spacious and so comfortable. Loved the king bed, and we are ridiculously persnickety about comfortable beds. We would definitely stay at the Bluebird again, hands down.
Our old-style but efficient in-room wall heater made quite a ruckus while heating up. Then it would bang loudly randomly, so when you least expected it: BAM! Like a g**shot! My husband jumped out of skin every time. Thank goodness the bed was so comfortable because he slept right through it in the middle of the night. I, however, heard it (woke me up once), but I'm hard of hearing, so I wasn't startled. My husband wasn't pleased, but I laughed until my sides ached every time it happened. 😂

The hotel is situated in the historic part of Cambria (stunning town), slightly farther from the ocean. The location is fantastic, surrounded by numerous restaurants, a charming bakery, and a few pubs. While the hotel's design follows the typical motel style, it stands out with its vibrant colors, decorations, and well-maintained appearance. The rooms are spacious and clean. You can easily explore the area on foot, but I recommend driving to reach the ocean or Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.
At breakfast they offer coffee and some granola bars, which isn’t quite a full meal. For something more substantial, you'll need to visit one of the many nearby eateries.

One of the best hotels we stayed in, excellent room with its own private outside seating area, very good facilities and very comfortable bed. Cambia as a location is very good with interesting shops and a proper "old town" America feel. Hotel hosts a free outside firepit gathering for guests in the evening (weather permitting). Would have stayed longer if we had known how good the hotel was. A must stop location if you are driving Hwy 1.
Couldn't fault the hotel but the nearby restaurant recommended to us by reception was not so good. Go further into town to find better places to eat.

Our adventure was based on two olde' duffers visiting Hearst Castle (less than 15-minutes north on Highway 1. On our early afternoon arrival, check-in was a breeze. The young lady behind the desk was very friendly allowing us an early 1:30 PM check-in. She said, "We were waiting for you!" In the original booking, we requested (in the notes and were granted) an upstairs room knowing vintage hotels (like this) tend to have squeaky floors. To that point, make your request for, "upstairs." Our host provided recommendations to local restaurants which were spot-on to our liking within a ten-minute drive. We liked the country feel of the Inn as it's minutes to downtown. We appreciated the cleanliness and its maintained, painted condition. Because of the region's, "water restrictions", there's no spa or pool, but in it's place, is a lovely, streetside fire pit with chairs open to 10PM. Note: This 100-year old property IS in impeccable condition. You should know it's not a five-star hotel based on your searches, but for old hotel aficionados like us, we "liked it" a lot! Rest assured, the Bluebird Inn beat's the hell out of those stuffy, expensive chain hotels.
Although not a game changer, at the next door property behind upstairs room #11, for three nights, the quirky neighbor goes outside at late hours to use power tools. We simply kept our bathroom window closed. The walk along the creek could use some sprucing/landscaping. These are personal observations, but our stay at the Bluebird Inn was positive.
