We loved our stay at The Talbot, the staff were friendly and really couldn’t do enough for us. We ate Sunday Lunch in the restaurant and the food was excellent, as was the breakfast the following morning . We only stayed one night, as we choose The Talbot because of its close location to Blenheim Palace, just a 20 min drive away, but we enjoyed our stay so much we have rebooked to stay again for the whole weekend in July and can’t wait to return, a real gem of a pub…thank you to all the staff for making our stay so perfect,

Clean and tidy rooms. Evening meals good choice and delicious. Good continental and cooked breakfast options. All staff really friendly. Can ask for fresh milk for the room. 15 mins drive to Redbridge P&R for city centre which I highly recommend.

Carpark spaces are limited especially if you arrive back early evening, competing with non residents. I would consider booking an evening meal table too as gets very busy. Lots of cobwebs in the bar area, needs a good once over. Tea / coffee not replenished each day. Noise from Siemens behind throughout the day and night, especially louder if you have a room window facing Siemens. Nothing to do with the accommodation but the Wharf footpath is closed. Could perhaps do with shades on the wall lamps, rather bright without.

We have stayed here several times. The rooms are a decent size, if not huge,and the shower room is modern and in excellent condition. The pub building is old, the rooms a later addition. It's all very traditional and cosy like a country cottage.. There is a deck overlooking the river and fields to have your drinks on a sunny day. Breakfast was excellent, inside the pub.

It's on a busy main road into Oxford, so there is a lot of traffic, but with the windows closed, it's not too noisy. The rooms look directly onto the pub carpark, but after the carpark, there is a river and fields. There is also an open mesh fence separating the property from a large office/factory area, which is ugly. Pity it can't have plants hiding it. Also the bedside lights in our room were very low wattage, couldn't see to read in bed!

Breakfast very good. Each morning I had a varying choice and both were excellent and staff could also be flexible when I wished to have poached eggs which weren’t on the menu . Good coffee too. Room was super comfortable and also was very spacious clean and modern. Shower was lovely and plenty of hot water. Staff very friendly and professional too. Food is excellent and we stayed for dinner two nights and had coffee on the last afternoon too. Location is brilliant for those wishing to use public transport into Oxford and runs frequently too on all days. Also serves the local villages too which makes it good for exploring and not having to drive everywhere. Walking on the Thames route is local to this hotel as well and they accommodated our needs due to work commitments and an early arrival on the first night to which the room was ready which was a lovely touch. Would 100% return

We really enjoyed the wonderful staff and amazing restaurant. Breakfasts were delicious and we had a great dinner one of our nights there. The menu had a wide selection, the atmosphere was great and the food quality was excellent. Additionally, the rooms were well-decorated and cleaned/refreshed everyday. Parking on-site was really easy and location was convenient for visiting Oxford/local area.

There was nothing we disliked

The rooms are not in the main pub and are quiet and comfortable. The stay was greatly enhanced by the staff, all of whom were friendly and professional. Breakfasts and evening meals in the pub were superb. The pub is on a main bus route into Oxford or, if you like walking, is about half a mile from the Thames Path, which makes for an easy and attractive walk into the city.

There was nothing to dislike. If you look at the map, you'll see that the Inn backs onto an industrial unit but this didn't detract from the views or affect our stay at all.

Beautiful and very comfortable room. Excellent shower. High quality toiletries replenished every day. Outstanding food and great gin selection. Very friendly owner and excellent front of house staff. Good quality products used for dinner and breakfast - we loved the granola and they make the best scrambled. Great location for the Thames Path.

Really minor but at this price point and quality boutique accommodation, a better breakfast choice, perhaps adding eggs Benedict and/or smashed avocado with poached eggs and rather than filter coffee, a caffeine would be a nice touch.

Location was brilliant for what I needed. Quaint place, with accommodation behind the main building. Plenty of parking, nice views across the stream and fields. On a main road which is probably the only downside, but to be fair the traffic noise was only a hum when in the room and didn't disturb me as I thought it might. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Rooms were spotless, with complimentary water, biscuits and chocolates (nice touch) There was a proper hair dryer in the room, not one of these silly hotel ones where you have to hold the button in and the cord is so short you break your neck. Fresh milk was available on request. Bathroom was modern and beautiful, with a waterfall shower and plenty of room to do a jig. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in. I travel a lot for work and struggle with sleep, but this one had me out for the count in no time and I reckon I had one of the best nights sleep ever whilst away from home (huge compliment from me). Food- Dinner was just lovely. I had the special of Gerry's beef and venison pie. I'm not normally a pie person, but Gerry is my favourite uncles name and it appealed to me as he is a great chef/cook. This pie did not disappoint. Fully encased pastry pie, with potatoes and fresh veg. Totally delicious and hit the spot after a long drive. Breakfast was just as good, with the freshest continental I have had, and a great selection of fruits. I opted for what I thought was a light cooked breakfast of scrambled eggs and salmon. Nope......although it looked delicate and presented beautifully it filled me up and then some. A tower of eggs on a bagel with pieces of salmon running through, topped with a large sliver of salmon to finish. Totally delicious and set me right for my long day ahead. Thankyou Talbot in for making this lone female traveller feel welcome, safe , and looked after. If I am ever in the area again....I will be back.

The only down side was the busy road. Coming from a quiet village it did seem loud to me initially. However I soon zoned out from it and all was well. It was quieter in the eve.

On arrival we were greeted by Lucy. Happy, cheerful and welcoming. Lucy was informative and made sure we were happy with the room. In the hall they have umbrellas available and baskets provided for wet/muddy boots, what a lovely touch. The room was very clean, comfy, with tea/coffee biscuits and two bottles of water provided, very nice. The shower was lovely . Nice products provided. Great hairdryer. Our party ate in the restaurant at The Talbot and my, we were pleased we did. The food was absolutely delicious 😁. Well done to the chef/s👍 Hot, fresh, well presented could not fault it. We had the specials menu fantastic. Desserts were a joy. Freddie, Lucy and all the waiting staff were marvellous. They were so attentive. Didn't have to ask for the water to be replenished it was done without request. Drinks were offered at the correct times. We go out often, and it was a joy to receive such welcoming and personalised service by all the staff. The atmosphere was charming. The decor chic yet cosy. Yes its a definite recommendation from all our group. Thank you for making our stay memorable 👍❤️

Could not fault it

Rooms are separate from the main Public bar/eating area. Rooms are of a good size well presented, clean with a comfortable bed, good shower, modern TV (bottled water) tea and coffee. umbrella's available. nice little touches, much nicer than a lot of chain hotels that charge more money. Great breakfast and food options

Nothing really, other than breakfast is a little late for me, 7.30am. normally 6.30am for me through the week.
