We stayed in The Bothy cottage and it was comfortable and quaint - it looked like a set out of Outlander! Peaceful wooded location 2 mins from the hotel in the hotel grounds. Beautiful location with lots of great restaurants and bars nearby in Pitlochry. Lots to do in the surrounding area.

Some of the restaurant staff were a little offhand with my family during the stay. Not necessarily providing bad service - more being blase at times. The Bothy Cottage living room furniture needs replaced and something done to make the living room look warmer - pictures on the wall? New paint colour scheme? Rugs on the floor? Not sure…

Our party of nine had a fantastic weekend stay at the Atholl Palace for our special family celebration. Bedrooms - the single room, although compact, had everything you needed. The double rooms were spacious and again had everything you needed. All rooms were exceptionally clean and the staff remade up the room every morning. This is something that's becoming more of a rarity these days so it's never an expectation but a very welcome touch! Food - there was a very good variety at breakfast and, although busy at times, the staff were incredibly prompt when it came to replenishing food so it really was always fresh, not lying for significant periods of time. We ate dinner at the hotel once (although other members of the party ate twice). On both occasions there was a good choice and portions were generous. Leisure Facilities - the spa facilities are good and although busy at times, it didn't feel overcrowded. There are tennis courts and a Pitch & Putt too. There are also a myriad of games in the lounge area - something for everyone. The one thing that makes this hotel so fabulous is the staff. As I previously mentioned, we were there for a family celebration; everyone was super friendly, exceptionally helpful and NOTHING was ever too much trouble. They went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. We had a fabulous time and will most definitely return.

I'd like to state this is a suggestion rather than a complaint!! One of the rooms had a bath with a shower. It would have been good if there had been a plinth over the bath or a handrail to grab on to as the family members occupying this particular room were seniors and slightly more nervous about slipping when manoeuvring out of the bath.

Welcome drinks on arrival, upgraded from Junior Suite to Fonab Turret Suite with 360 degrees spectacular views. Room decorated for our anniversary/ birthday, with bottle of champagne. Good breakfast choices, set in beautiful surroundings and a short walk from Pitlochry.

Hotel could do with a bit of TLC, paintwork needing attention. External especially. Numerous years of paint building up and onto the actual glass panels and not the woodwork. Unsightly. Woodwork has to be stripped right back and then repainted or pvc windows can be made to look like that time period.

Our stay at the palace was truly memorable. The interior and design gave off the charming vibe of a beautiful, historic era, it felt like stepping back in time, in the best way possible. The entire area around the palace was absolutely gorgeous and added to the overall experience. A special highlight was the complimentary spa access, which was a lovely bonus and made our stay even more relaxing. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wide variety of delicious options to choose from. This place is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a unique, elegant, and peaceful getaway.

The only downside was the noise level, sounds from outside the room were quite noticeable, which affected the overall sense of peace at times.

Staff very informative and welcoming

When checking out in the midst of a storm, we enquired if it was safe to travel south, the receptionist informed us, the storm, was still in the red zone. The receptionist then informed us that it was unsafe to exit the main drive and to exit via the service road, due to fallen branches. At no time did the staff offer any alternatives to travelling, possibly staying on or offer a deal to stay on, which I thought would have been a more safer an enticing prospect.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The spa facilities were amazing and the spa area was very quiet which was exactly what I wanted. We both got a massage, this was very good. Staff were lovely and experienced. The relaxation room after your massage was excellent, there was hot drinks and blankets, a view to the Scottish countryside was also right in front of you which helped us relax. I used the gym which was clean and easy to figure out. We had afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly. This was all very tasty and we had a lovely view over the Scottish country side. We also had breakfast in this same area. Breakfast was well stocked and had everything you needed and more. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. We had dinner in the bar area on the first night. Cocktails were tasty. We both had steak which was well cooked. Check in and check out was fuss free and all staff were attentive.

I was not sure what champagne was used for the afternoon tea, the champagne flutes said a luxury brand but then a bottle of bubbly came out which was not the same brand as the glasses, which was a little disappointing. One of the deserts was a trifle made in a stubby wine glass. This wasn’t in keeping with the dainty luxury feel of the afternoon tea and it was too big to eat. A little version in a special pot or dish would be more in keeping with the experience. The music that was playing in the bar while we were having dinner was dance music or similar, this dampened the atmosphere of a luxury hotel and meal experience. Some sort of classier music or traditional Scottish music would’ve been nicer.

Atholl Palace is lovely old historic hotel on top of a hill in Pitlochry, easily within walking distance of the town. You can feel the history in the fabric of the building, there is even a museum in the basement. Plenty space and lovely gardens surround the hotel, and there is a great view of the surrounding Scottish countryside. Our room was perfect for a family of three, even had a door into the garden.

Very occasionally the age of the hotel shows through, but with a grand old place like this that is to be expected and it does not detract from the charm of the place.

Everything, plenty of facilities close to the town even has its own museum and video of the history of the Palace! Stag bar is great and food is excellent! My freezer packs went missing and the staff went everywhere looking for them! Then the manager went home and got some of her own and yo the shop to buy some replacements! They were fantastic! We also arrived at the hotel room to ballon’s rose petals and specially folded towels and a bottle of prosecco on ice to celebrate our 50th anniversary! Above and beyond! Thank you!

Beautiful location, easy walk into the town centre. We stayed in a hunting lodge which was light and bright. It was very spacious and the addition of a bath was a bonus. The area of the accommodation was peaceful and a short distance from the hotel.

The floor in the lodge was so creaky and when the lodge above was occupied their flooring was so noisy it woke us up. Definitely needs some form of sound proofing. The kitchen was not as well equipped as I would expect with just 2 saucepans, no small cutting knife, no vegetable peeler and no drainer for sink. These are the minimum I would expect in self catering accommodation.

What a treat! Complimentary honey-whiskey at check-in set the tone. Just walking through the lobby to the lift put us in such a pleasant state. Room was spacious with just the right mattress and a sleek, modern bath. Drinks on the patio followed by a stroll on the grounds. Opted for dinner in the pub where a guitar player kept spirits up while the volume allowed conversation. Chip and putt at sunset was an unexpected gift. Breakfast in the great dining room offered an over abundance of options while the full wall of windows framed the beauty of the landscape perch.

Regret not knowing how nice this place is and not staying longer to indulge in the spa. Next time, definitely. Only detraction was some inexperienced pub staff still learning the computer system but they were sincere and welcoming.
