Breakfast was outstanding though my husband would've liked a little more of the fried toast!!!
My hair is shoulder length and although a hairdryer was provided, I felt this was a little out of date and awkward to style my hair due to the lack of power and position in the room. Most.hotels and B&B'S now provided plug in hairdryers. Possibly something to discuss and implement.

Ascot house is a lovely old building. The breakfast was very good and we liked being able to walk into the centre whilst leaving our car in their car park. Great shower too..
The stairs up to our room in the attic were very steep and narrow and difficult to negotiate with luggage. Personally, I didn't like the metal bars at the head of the bed as this made it impossible to sit up in bed comfortably.

The property is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. Very friendly staff. Absolutely excellent breakfast. Very comfortable and spacious room, beautifully decorated in keeping with the period of the building, with a large and modern bathroom. The City Center is about a 15 minute walk away, and access to the main ring roads if you want to venture further afield is also only a few minutes' drive. We had no problem getting a space in the parking lot, and there are also spaces available on the street if the lot is full. We will be back in the future!
There wasn't anything we didn't like. Everything about our stay was great.

First class breakfast, delicious and plenty of choice from the buffet table. Room was really lovely, very spacious and exceptionally clean. Beautiful decor through out, felt like you were staying in a very high quality Victorian guest house with the bedroom being more modern in decor and the bathroom being more updated with a large walk in shower and lovely powerful shower head. The selection of drink making , tea, coffee, hot choc, biscuits and little toiletries for use were excellent too. Also walking in to the guest house it had a beautiful flowery scent to welcome you, which eventually I worked out to be the gorgeous vase of Lillie's on the reception desk!
The mattress on the bed was a little to hard for me, but I do suffer from a lot of neck and shoulder pain, so when staying away that is always a problem for me anyway.

This is a charming family-run hotel with beautiful historical touches in a lovely neighbourhood. It was a former stained-glass artist's house and there are beautiful examples of this in the house. The location was quiet at night. The modern bathroom with walk-in shower was excellent. The made-to-order breakfast with veggie options was very good. (If you're a coffee drinker, stick to tea as the coffee is on the weak side.) The walk into historic York was easy to do. I love the fact that it's dog-friendly.
These are minor, but as a vegetarian, I would have liked to have some of the cheese provided, but it was touching the cold cuts. The room was very warm at night. (We had a bit of a heat wave when we were there.) The Wi-Fi isn't consistent, but we had a lot of data to compensate. The pillows are very thin. Overall, this is very good value for money.

A beautiful old world masion. Very well cared for. The breakfast and service is the best of this stay. Finominaal !!! Grounds were well groomed. Our room newly renovated. Shower hot and strong. Bed very comfortable. Lovely soft carpets. Parking on site behind the house.
We were on the top floor. Which is fine. The stairs up there were very very steep. Struggled with luggage. Cushions were very thin. Unfortunately we were there with renovations. The front of the house was 100% covered in scaffolding. For the moment. So sad. She is such a grand Dame !!!

Was greeted by June, one of the owners, who was very helpful. We stayed 4 nights and family room was spacious and bright, beds very comfortable. En-suite shower was powerful and big. Very clean. Room was cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious. Plenty of choice, from all types of fruit, seeds, good choice of cereal, porridge made to order and continental style deli. Lots of toast (whole meal and white) cooked breakfast was delicious and perfectly made. Staff very cheerful, polite, attentive and efficient. The location is perfect for a trip to York ,being a 15 minute walk away. We didn’t use the car once.
Not enough onsite parking when hotel full, but you can park on the road to the side of the guest house, which is free from Fri afternoon to Monday am. June kindly let us use her parking space and the next day there was a free space in the car park, so wasn’t really an issue in the end.

Breakfast was great and parking was available to the rear of the property. Handy Co-Op across the street. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the place was clean. Large shower cubicle and shower power was excellent. Bedroom and bathroom were a good size.
Bed was a little harder than we're used to but others may find this perfectly acceptable. We got blocked in by a worker's van in the car-park and were unable to locate the driver so we cancelled a planned trip out. There is scaffold around the property currently and although this was apologised for upon arrival, it would have been more courteous to have been informed beforehand. Painters and roofers walking past the window was unusual. As this is an older property, there were far less plug sockets than in more modern establishments.

The house is spectacular and the staff very friendly. The room was great and clean. It’s very quiet area but was easy to cath a bus into York or a nice 25 minute walk. It has a play park, tennis court, basket ball court nearby and a coop just across the road . The breakfast in the morning was fabulous.
We had a family room and it was very warm and the kids found it hard to get to sleep. There was a fan in the room but needed something that circulates the air more around the whole room. It had been a warm day anyway and we did open the window before we settled for the eveing.

The location of the accommodation is excellent been here a few times and it never disappoints. Lovely park right on doorstep for the dogs which is beautiful. The breakfasts are fantastic a great choice of food which is always hot and served on hot plates which is a great plus. The staff and owner are brilliant nothing is a problem for them, they are always efficient , eager to help and very friendly.Rooms are spotless and have very comfy beds some rooms have four poster beds .Wine and water glasses are provided and are changed daily if required. The accommodation has a lovely homely atmosphere and is also spotless. The staff obviously like working there and take a lot of pride in their work. A great place to stay as it has its own private car park which allows you to walk into the centre of York about 20 mins. without worrying about parking.
Everything was great even the weather!!!
