My room was cozy and comfortable enough. It was quiet despite being on the main street, and I had enough storage and hooks to hang and store things so that I wasn't tripping over my things. My bed was clean and comfy; the television was a good size with good channels and the bathroom clean. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant - lots of choice and really beautifully cooked, not greasy. Large glasses for juice, lots of cereal and no need too much for the cook.

There was a large green light on the ceiling that meant the room was quite bright all through the night. I was so exhausted that I slept through but in a small room it was quite significant!

Huge bedroom, massive bed and exceptional breakfast. Very clean and comfortable. So close to the city walls and free parking. Covered outside area was a bonus. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We have stayed at numerous bed and breakfasts in York and this one has really made our stay a fantastic one.

If I had to pick at something it would be the curtains! They were not quite wide enough for the window and let light in from the sides but did not affect our stay. Probably as they are on sash windows.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, spacious, having and dressing table/desk was very helpful as I had to work for a few hours. The bed was very comfortable and there were two pillows each, which was a big plus, you don't normally get that. The room was cleaned every day and the tea/coffee/water was refilled (also something I have never come a crossed before. Breakfast supplied was very good. The garden area was nice to sit.

I am happy to say there wasn't anything we didn't like.

Staff were polite, friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable, I liked the cheerful and cozy overblanket and bedside rug. Breakfast options were plentiful, and served by cheerful staff.

Room was smaller than I was expecting, with more basic furniture (eg, nowhere to put clothing/possessions) but was adequate and quite cozy for a one night stay. Bathroom was freezing- the window wouldn’t shut properly so was very draughty and the radiator had been switched off. I turned the thermostat up and it was warmer by the morning. Did get woken up very early by the bin men but it was brief and can’t be helped.

Great rooms that I assume have been recently renovated as there were very fresh. Small room but very cosy. Bed was very comfy and the linen was fresh. Enough storage and even had a iron and board , which was great as I needed to press my shirt . Room temperature was fine and wasnt cold at all. Ensuite Bathroom was nice although there was a minor issue with shower not quite draining quick enough , so was a quick shower , which was fine. Great breakfast and lots on offer. Managed to park in the small parking area at the back of the pub , which had around 5/6 spaces. Very impressed overall and will definitely stay again when we go to York. Excellent value for money

There was nothing we disliked, however there are no lifts so may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.

What a beautiful inn and it had a wonderful beer garden and covered area with lovely seating. It had so many old pictures with historical value and lovely old seating and all ages were catered for including children who could sit in the family area away from the main bar and there were cabinets with books and games. The breakfast was excellent and offered everything. The large double room was perfect, such a comfortable bed and comfortable seating and the ensuite shower room and toilet was perfectly clean as was the room. Although traffic is very busy outside it did not spoil anything for us. We would recommend staying here as we will do so again. It is a steady 10 to 15 min walk into york which is great in nicer weather. The owner and staff were very accomadating and friendly.

Nothing to dislike.

It’s a small place above a pub/restaurant. The couple looking after the rooms and breakfast are lovely. Rooms are thoroughly cleaned and had all the amenities needed. Thoughtful placing of many small items - shows attention for detail. Parking was included. Breakfast was amazing. Chef was super friendly! All very good. Has beaten my expectations. Glad I didn’t go to the standard hotels like premier inn or travelodge. This place is priced competitively and definitely better!

Bathroom was a bit cold. Cistern was making some noises. Not a big deal but that’s something they can look into.

Staff were amazing. Very helpful and attentive. The cost of breakfast was included in the price and the chef made an impressive full Yorkshire breakfast. I only stayed for a night but was wowed by the budget price for above average customer service.

The room i stayed in (room 6) shook everytime a vehicle passed by underneath, realised it was because the room was above a passageway. The water pressure was a little odd as the pressure from the basin increases significantly after a second being turned on. You'll get use to it but the first few times you will get wet. The pressure from the shower head was great though hot water seemed to run out around the fifth minute. I had to use on off method instead of having constant running water to avoid catching a cold. The room had a strong bleach smell. I'd opened the windows for a few hours to rid the smell so that helped a bit but the smell is toxic so hope the cleaners can be a little lighter when using chemicals.

Lovely proper pub. Servered a lovely pint friendly staff. Felt comfortable and a fantastic breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Very much appreciated a lovely pint of Aspalls. Breakfast was delicious lots of choice and the selection of cereals etc was lovely. Perfect little room for solo traveller kettle and tea and coffee provided in room. Nice little view too. Straight 15 minute walk into the centre of York. Perfect!

Cosy lovely little room. The heating came on in the afternoon when I turned the rads up not sure if it came on at night but I was very warm and cosy. Shower pressure was great not too hot but not sure if I needed to give it longer to warm up
