The hotel is in a great location on the bank of the River Ouse , handy for the city centre (easily accessed over Skeldergate Bridge, which brings you out by Clifford's Tower) and the shops/cafes/restaurants in 'Bishy Road', but also great for walking along the river. It's also right next to Rowntree Park (a really nice 1920s park with a cafe and playground) and quite near the Racecourse, so a good option if you're coming to the races. Although the only breakfast offered is coffee/tea and croissants, the croissants were fresh every day (even on Christmas Day) and very good quality. Our room was large and very well-equipped, including the kitchen area. The bed was firm and comfortable. Being by the river it was very quiet at night. The staff were friendly and helpful. We come to York regularly and I'd definitely stay here again.

Having paid a supplement for a room with a river view, we were given a room at the side of the hotel overlooking the caravan park at Rowntree Park; however, reception staff were apologetic and said that they would arrange a refund for the river view supplement. My only other (very minor) quibble is that the toilet paper supplied is so thin that you might want to consider bringing your own!

We have stayed at Roomzzz York before and would do so again - it's in a fantastic location, right on the river, near the City Walls and close to major attractions like Clifford's Tower and the Castle Museum. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the beds are great. We didn't really use the kitchen area, other than for making drinks, but it's well-supplied. The showers are very powerful - one of the best hotel showers I've encountered.

The lights on the corridors are on sensors, but don't seem very sensitive - on a couple of occasions we had to find our way to our room in the dark. The corridors and lift areas are very hot - perhaps the hotel could save a bit of money on heating here? My main comment would be that this hotel doesn't seem very responsive to requests made when booking: on our first visit I paid extra for a river view but was given a room with a view of the car park; although I was told I would get a refund, this never materialised. For our current stay, I had requested a room on the first or second floors (as I don't like being too high up); I was allocated a room on the third floor and was told that 'the lower floors must be full up.'

Self catering facilities were excellent…everything I needed. Location was great..lovely view of river and walk either way. Near enough to walk into York. Nearby some fab pubs just across the river by the bridge and a lovely park down the road towards melinium bridge. Boat trips nearby and lovely ice cream boat. Lots of couples and families enjoying the nice weather and walking dogs. Free coffee and croissants in the morning was lovely.

A little noisy early morning…I could hear footsteps…stomp stomp stomp…either above or to the side of my room…not sure if it was cleaners getting rooms ready or other residents. Nothing else.

Modern, spacious suite with basically equipped kitchenette. Very quiet at night. Strong WiFi, comfortable bed. Convenient location easy walk to heart of York.

Other reviews mention free cappuccino and croissants, but the lobby coffee machine was not working during our stay. Initially we were assigned a wheelchair accessible room. Great that this is available to those who require it, but it wouldn't work for us. After some discussion, they moved us into the type of room we had reserved.

But for this you need to install a special application Ringgo, so the hotel staff wrote in private messages to Booking.com. We installed it, but nothing worked, then the application illegally debited funds in the amount of 35 pounds from the card. We were forced to block the card until the end of the trip and now make a new one. Therefore, it is better to do it right away without the application, to pay immediately at the hotel. The hotel is very modern, the room has everything you need, the room is spacious. The hotel is very clean. The staff at the reception is friendly and ready to help. The price was great. Now we are staying in Britain in this hotel chain.

Excellent location, not far from York centre, around 5-10 minutes walk. Parking was good but lucky to get a space, I can imagine that arriving and having to find alternative parking would be a pain. Apartment amenities were good - although didn’t put them all to use I can appreciate the fridge / freezer for longer stays and summer. Was very quiet no noise issues from either other apartments or the local area.

I’d say this was on the pricey side, I ended up paying £400 including upgrade to balcony offer. In all honesty the balcony isn’t much use / views aren’t the best despite being located adjacent to the river due to the trees but I can see the appeal and welcome breeze afforded in the summer. Thought it was strange there wasn’t a bar, although obviously plenty within a short walk. The rooms were looking slightly tired, nothing major but noticed knocks etc here and there.

Location was fantastic - easy access to city centre, Rowntree Park & Bishy Road. Staff was great - very helpful and accommodating. And hotel was dog friendly! Room spacious and well equipped.

Was overall very happy with our stay and put most housekeeping shortcomings down to staff time off for Christmas. However was surprised no free parking for residents. Also not happy the parking garage wasn’t secured (security barrier not working - on 2 occasions found piles of vomit next to our car that were never cleaned away). In room, mattress could have been more comfortable. Kitchen cabinet doors not fitting properly. Soap containers needed refilling and were moldy inside (staff provided fresh new bottle of soap). Would have liked a better breakfast.

Really nice hotel with a lovely location beside the river. We didn't use the kitchen facilities, but it was well stocked and now that we know what it entails we will consider using them on another stay. Some parts of the room and bathroom were a bit tired (a few marks and the grouting had seen better days), but it's only a minor point and didn't detract from the pleasant stay. The free morning croissants were a pleasant addition but it would be nice if vegan croissants were available too. Overall we would highly recommended to others.

Lovely apartment, and we were located at the end of the corridor, so not only quieter, but also had a river view. The walk to/from the city centre and rail station really isn't too bad for those able to do so. The overall look and feel is very welcoming, the complimentary coffee and croissants in Reception in the morning is a really thoughtful touch. Our apartment was very comfortable and well thought out, the bathroom and shower were spacious and very good. For each alcove of 2 apartments, there is also an extra door between room doors and corridor, making it even quieter. I've never seen this before, and really appreciated it 👍🏻 Our dog was with us and he was very welcome, also a lovely park just long the road (and a handy poo bin on the fence just inside the entrance to the caravan park next door). The hotel has a little provisions shop, including microwave meals, so as a self catering guest you have quick/easy options if you need them. The breakfast/brunch menu is varied (although we didn't try it, we saw the food prepared by the chef for a corporate gathering, it all looked very good). Also, they use turkey bacon and beef sausages for the whole menu, which is a great idea to include anyone who doesn't eat pork without the hotel having loads of different ingredients hanging around. All round a very relaxed and comfortable stay, would definitely stay here again.

The air con/heating was a little noisy at night (but I can be a light sleeper to be fair). Just the one recommendation....... although the kitchen area is well equipped, there were no tea towels for drying anything. I appreciate that this would be extra laundry, but I think it's an essential bit of kit to be honest 🤷‍♀️

The location was fab the room looked great, parking on site, free coffee and croissants if you like them, the receptionist on the day shift was lovely and very helpful.

The bathroom looked great but the tap was faulty and the water jetted out and soaked me, the shower buttons were also faulty but did get one shower working but not all the shower jets were working. The mattress wasn’t comfortable and the curtains were too short for the window so the room wasn’t dark. The night receptionist “Jatinder” well I don’t know what she was doing I was ringing the night bell but she never appeared until I rang the hotel number. We went out for the evening and on return our room key deactivated. When she appeared she sorted the problem.
