Great position, walking distance close to city centre. The building is very attractive both inside & outside with parking (bit tight but greatly appreciated as city centre). Lovely feel to beer garden which backs onto canal, & other outside spaces attractive & well thought out. Comfortable room with a small ‘fridge & tea, coffee, biscuits etc provided. Good en-suite with lovely quality toilet paper & plenty of it. Friendly staff. Would be happy to stay again.
Blurb said rooms were on ground floor but on arrival, we were informed these were all taken, so our room was up an iron staircase on the first floor, which with arthritis, gave us a little problem, but we managed OK. Although nice to have towels provided, ours were all worn, torn & really only good as dog towels! Only ate in the Masons Arms restaurant first night but meals not great- e.g. chips very overcooked although portion sizes generous.

Fantastic location right in the centre of York with onsite free parking. Breakfast wasn't available but there was a Wetherspoons 100m across the road. Pub was lovely with plenty of old world charm, x3 hand pulled ales and the beer garden was a secret peaceful little oasis even though the pub is located on the inner ring road. We didn't eat here but the meals looked amazing. The room was located in one of the out buildings everything was lovely and modern in the room apart from all the spiders webs, dirty tiled floor and a way too firm bed. Just take care of these 3 issues and I would say the place would be totally amazing. It did have a really good powerful shower. The staff and locals were really friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again.

So cosy and warm with everything you need.. It is on the small side but it’s expected as it used to be a stable. We stayed in room 4, we had a parking space out front. If it gets too warm you simply turn the radiator down. It’s walking distance from the town centre and there’s Tesco extra 5 minutes walk away. The food in the pub is delicious! Steak night on a Friday with a free bottle of wine when you order steak for two and the Sunday roast is to die for all homemade and fresh. Will be booking again at the end of this year.
Nothing.

The host, Terry, was very welcoming and friendly, as were all his staff in the bar. The bar....let me tell you it was great. It was how bars and pubs used to be, oak beams and tables, open fireplace which was stunning, and everyone, including other visitor's and locals were really friendly. The food and the company was great. Our stay at the Masons was a memorable one. Our room was on the ground floor to the rear of the pub ,it was perfect. It more than exceeded our expectations. It was cosy, tastefully decorated, and spotless. There was plenty of tea, coffee, milk, and even hot chocolate, which I thought was such a nice touch . The beer garden was lovely, even in Oct. The river Foss runs right behind the beer garden which makes it feel like a really special place to stay. York city centre is only a ten min walk away which makes the Masons Arms a perfect place to stay. We are planning another visit to York in the summer, and we will definitely be staying here again, I can't wait to see the beer garden in bloom. Thank you Terry, Gillian, and all the staff at the Masons Arms for making us feel so welcomed.

Perfectly situated on the doorstep of the centre of York - 7- 10 minute walk. The pub serves food from lunch time through to evening dining with a Wetherspoons for breakfast or cheaper meals right across the road. A Co-op for convenience is also a few mins walk away next to the barbican theatre. So...somewhere to sleep , a base to begin your exploration from Masons Arms rooms are ideal. The property is gate locked every night , added security & parking is free!
The only niggle is the shower tray which gets slippy when the shower is in use - be aware of this.

An absolutely charming stay at the back of the pub. Free onsite parking at the rear of the pub that was locked later in the evening. The first floor room was snug, quiet and clean and the bed comfortable. The ensuite was small but great water pressure and hot water. The wifi was average. However the location is fantastic and you can check in just after midday so we were able to walk into town and visit all the attractions and then come back to the pub and have a great meal.
Wifi was slow

Everything. The staff were lovely! The room was a bit on the small side, but very cosy. The facilities in the outside area were brilliant and backed onto the river. The food was very good and freshly cooked. As an ex hotelier, I tend to pick faults. However, if I did on this occasion, I would be very bloody picky! I would recommend the Masons, especially in the summer. You are within five minutes walking distance to the centre of town. In addition, a large proportion of the clientele are local people. I am widely travelled and have an adage wherever you visit, always go where the locals go! They only have four rooms but I highly recommend!
Nothing, everything was brilliant.

Great location for a Gig we were attending nearby. Host were very helpful and friendly and allowed us to park onsite so we could go for a wander prior to booking in. The car park is small but enough space and it is secured on a night. There was no breakfast option but plenty of places nearby. We didnt eat in the pub as we had other plans but the Sunday dinner looked gorgeous and worth going back for. We had room no. 1 which is a ground floor extention room opening into the car park/beer garden area with out own little bistro table outside the door. Plenty of outdoor seating. The bed was large and very comfortable. Lots of Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate and biccys to enjoy. Powerful hot shower and plenty of towels. Large cupboard for clothes or storage. Would stay again.
Shower Tray a bit dated

Stayed for 2 nights, it is situated just a 5 minute stroll from the city centre ,staff are friendly and always are keen to help out with any problems. Lovly pub with excellent food also, the rooms are situated around the back ,it is nice and quiet, the rooms are a decent size and have a shower. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay if you are going to visit York
If I had to be critical,it could only be I wish the room was bigger, but that is being super critical

The Masons Arms is a lovely characterful pub, our room was small, but had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. The bed was comfortable, the TV had a decent choice of channels, plenty of tea and coffee, the shower is quite powerful and the water lovely and hot, there is a small fridge which is handy. I asked for fresh milk for the room and they kindly gave me a little jug. We had a meal in the bar in the evening, it was very nice. There is little car park at the back of the pub and the parking is free, also it is very central and a few minutes walk and you are in town. There isn't a breakfast option at the pub, but we took porridge pots and fruit, which was fine.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
