Nice and close to the Barbican and an easy walk into the centre. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The pool and sauna were lovely and clean and a nice environment, towels provided and a costume spinner. The pool was a nice temperature and the pool room was nice and warm as well. The bed in our was really comfortable and we both slept like logs. We had lots of space in the room, and a fridge is always a bonus!

Nitpicking really but a few of the USB plugs next to the bed didn’t seem to work but there were others in the room that worked perfectly fine so only a minor issue really.

All of the staff are friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is a bonus! The bathroom had his and hers sinks, a huge bath and a separate waterfall shower. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe space and hangers, an iron and board, hairdryer and many full length mirrors. The separate lounge area with a sofa bed and desk with a tv creates a homely feel. The windows open slightly and my room overlooked the river. I was in a junior suite which was very quiet and I didn’t hear any noise from anywhere. The hotel is a short, easy walk into the city and only about 5 minutes walk from Clifford’s tower and surrounding shops.

The hotel food was not up to a good standard. Continental breakfast didn’t have a lot to offer. We had the curry and the pie and mash one evening. Both were bland and tasteless. We ate out for the rest of our stay. I would have preferred the bed to be facing the window instead of the tv. Too many mirrored doors. It felt like a fairground attraction!

The room was lovely and spacious as always. The swimming pool is such a nice addition and we are delighted that we can use it as part of our stay. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are very clean. The breakfast was lovely and good value for money.

You have to pay £17 per night for parking which feels excessive for a hotel car park, given we were paying to stay at the hotel. It was competitive with York parking in general, but most hotels don't charge. We order food on the Monday and it was truly awful. Very very slow to arrive, and then completely wrong (I'd asked for no gravy on the children's meals and it came covered). When we received the meal without gravy, the pork was mostly fat and barely any meat. Overall the meal was expensive, slow, and not very nice.

We like the location, lobby and breakfast, view from the room over the river, we were allowed to leave our bags before checking-in so we could enjoy day of sightseeing, love all the toiletries being from The Ritual brand, which i absolutely love.

Lack of information about how the pool session actually work, only 30 mins per slot. Dirty sauna and pool floor, looked like there was no regular cleanings with yellow hairy water sitting on the bottom of the sauna room, had to come out to ask about towels even though staff member let us in into the pool area. Uncomfortable sofa bed in our room, it was 3 of us, so on of us had to sleep on the sofa, one flat pillow was provided and very uncomfortable click clack sofa to sleep on. No third cup for a hot drink in the room either.

Great location only a few minutes walk to the York town centre. Room was quite large with good facilities including a mini fridge, also being able to cast from a phone to the TV offering more entertainment when in the room. Staff were polite and friendly too, helping with parking and a quick and easy check-in

We booked a slot for the pool which was still available, however about 5 minutes into the time we selected two different groups of people also entered the pool area making it feel a little bit awkward having a group of men join as well being two young female guests. I’m not sure if this was normal, but we assumed we would be able to have the pool to ourselves during that time slot we booked as that is what we were told, so we ended up leaving it early. We did book to use it again in the morning hoping for a better experience, unfortunately we got a call prior to going but it was closed for maintenance which was understandable we just wish we would’ve had a better experience with that as it was one of the selling points of the hotel

The swimming pool was nice and the reception/bar staff were really good. They made our stay very relaxing and stress free. The room was big with nice comfy beds and the aircon was good after a long day out walking round York.

The swimming pool was a bit overcrowded at times when a couple of guests thought it was there right to take over half the pool doing lengths when the pool had two different families already in and got angry when the kids got in the way. The room could have been slightly cleaner, we had some towels with odd marks on them and some dirt on the bathroom floor.

We had a fantastic stay from start to finish! The location was perfect for exploring the area, and the staff went above and beyond – warm, friendly, accommodating, and always professional. Our room was clean and very comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The food was delicious with plenty of choice, and the pool area was a real highlight – spotless, relaxing, and perfect for unwinding. We would happily return and highly recommend to others

The bathroom, while clean and functional, could benefit from an update to match the high standard of the rest of the hotel.

Room size was good. Large comfortable bed (Superior Queen room) Fridge/cooler containing water and milk. The temperature of the room was well controlled - not too hot or cold. Electric car charging in car park which we needed. Location was excellent. All main York attractions within walking distance.

The noise insulation from the room above wasn't very good. We could hear young children running around but fortunately it was quiet during the night so it did not affect our sleep. Perhaps families should be allocated rooms at one end of the building and those without children at the other? Expensive car parking charge. It would be better if there was a washbasin (or at least hand sanitiser provided) in the toilet cubicle. Having the wash basin in the separate bathroom isn't ideal.

Fantastic, friendly and helpful staff meant check in and out was problem free. We stored our bags at the hotel before check in and after check out so we could enjoy the city. The town centre was a ten minute walk from the hotel with views of the river and town walls nearby, local pubs and a Wetherspoons within 5 minute walk but a nice quiet location. The room was large and comfortable with large TV, double bed, sturdy sofa bed (just like a bed, no wobbles), secure lift, mini fridge, good sized bathroom and separate toilet. The pool had good facilities and was bookable in 30 minute slots which was easy to do. Nice and refreshing and there was a sauna too. Beautiful lounge to relax in. The breakfast was well laid out, spacious and stress free. Great range of options available including vegan and gluten free. The professionalism of the approachable staff really made this hotel special.

The hotel is very modern, the suite we had was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom and shower was one of the best we have seen and spotlessly clean with high quality bath products. The beds were good and the robes in the room a nice touch. The pool was nice although the jets were not working. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the selection and quality of the food available.

Only issue we encountered was that we were told as Accor members we could check out at 12pm, at 11.50am my teenage son was getting dressed in the room, when someone from house keeping just walked into the room with out knocking and shouted at him that check out was at 11am. He was half undressed and obviously quite confused. We were out of the room by check out time 12pm and i don't think its right to just walk into rooms without knocking and then tell off kids!. I was quite shocked.
