Lovely hotel. Absolutely spotless. Don't think I've ever been in a cleaner hotel. Our room was the same. Everything looked brand new. Breakfast was very nice. Great choice.

Parking is a bit of a problem. Although the Q-Park is not very far, we parked in the Shambles, it could be a bit of a burden carrying bags if you are elderly. I decided to bring the car around to the hotel when leaving as the walk is up hill and it would have been hard, especially as the weather was very warm. Also the building works next door is not a very good sight. I am sure when it is completed, a car park would be nice, it will look a lot nicer. The building facing the entrance, with the containers/bars, looks a bit drab. Some murals would be nice. Perhaps depicting the sights of York. Just a thought.

The room was nice and clean and being on floor 5 was very quiet. The breakfast was nice and the staff were very helpful to my disabled wife. Even though the breakfast room was very busy, there were plenty of free tables. A very nice stay. Hotel is close to a good multi-storey car park where there is FREE PARKING for BLUE BADGE HOLDERS.

1. One of the tea/coffee stations has to be reached crossing the reception area. There is a high risk of bumping into guests who are booking out (and in) at the reception. The station is a Health and Safety hazard and should be relocated well away from the reception area. I had a ‘near miss’ carrying two hot drinks back to the breakfast table. 2. Was not impressed by the housekeeping staff member asking for a TIP in the corridor, as we were leaving our bedroom to book out of the Hotel. The individual obviously didn’t know British Values and etiquette that should be shown to guests. It was rather embarrassing 😳. We always leave a small tip in the room anyway and don’t need to be told to leave a tip ! 🥴

Location of the hotel ideal for exploring York city center and very close to shops, pubs, restaurants etc. The check-in process was excellent, even allowing us access to the room several hours before the usual check-in time which was ideal to allow us to drop bags and freshen up. Breakfast was very good, large variety of options from cereals, pastries, cooked breakfast, waffles, fruit etc and all included in the price so no queuing to confirm rooms etc. Check-out was very simple and fast also.

We were allocated a room next to the lifts so all night the "ping!" of the lift arriving could be heard very loudly in the room. For the bathroom there was only a sliding door which is noisy when used during the night and does not create much sound proofing. Also a shame that there is no parking on site but the car park is just 5 mins walk away and we received a discount to park there.

It was a lovely hotel that was within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Check-in was easy, and the room was ready early so we could dump our cases and go. The room was clean, bright and spacious. The bed was lovely and comfortable and we slept very well. The breakfast was lovely with a great selection to pick from...and the staff were friendly and helpful. We plan to return and will definitely book to stay again.

We would have preferred onsite parking, but due to the central location of the hotel, the parking that was offered was very good. We chose the Shambles carpark and were given a discount code to use. It was very easy to drive to and even easier to walk to and from. It was a very secure facility, which offered peace of mind to park up and leave the car for our 3 night stay.

The location is amazing! Walking distance to everything you want to visit in York. Very close to many good restaurants. The designer outlet is only 10 mins’ drive away. Breakfast is satisfied. The best thing is having refreshing water and coffee at the reception area, which makes us feel very relax. Hotel doesn’t have parking-need to park in a car park which is 3 min’s walk from hotel. It is charged £16 per day.

Would be great if there are more choices for b-fast. A bit hard to reach reception if carrying heavy luggage by yourself. There are a few steps need to walk.

Couldn't fault it. Lovely stay, would go again. Our room top floor 5th, by the lift, was quiet. Big comfortable beds, good space to the air-conditioned room which was easy to operate to turn down fan/or turn up heat. Easy to use safe, provided in room draw. Also an iron and a hairdryer. Lovely, large, very clean walk in shower, ensuite. Very good selection to breakfast, in a relaxed atmosphere lay out, some soft chairs, and T.V. near foyer. Option to make your own waffle in waffle fryer. Large window with great view of Mot n Bailey castle at the back of restaurant. Good security up to the rooms operated by your room key card. Saw there was a sign on ground floor for a gym, but we did not use. Nice staff.

The breakfast was very good with a wide variety to cater for everyone. The location was within walking distance of the main part of York. Room was well equipped and value for money.

The sofa wasn’t very comfortable for periods of sitting. The bed was quite comfortable but way too low, we are pensioners and had trouble getting out of bed. The room was very clean but we did find a long hair in the shower tray which was quite plain to see. The breakfast was excellent but did lack a choice of eggs, we don’t like scrambled eggs so went without, would have been nice to have an alternative option of fried or poached eggs.

Very secure hotel with card access required for even the lifts. Rooms were excellent and very clean with iron, board, hair dryer etc. Very quiet. Staff on duty were engaging and sociable. Location next to city centre bus terminus and a minute or so walk. Lots of pubs, shopping and restaurants nearby. This hotel had a good friendly vibe about it.

No fault of staff, however all room televisions were out due to an aerial signal problem. To be fair however the techs were still trying at 2200 hours to rectify the problem. Cooked breakfast was a little basic ingredients wise, but good Continental option.

The hotel is in a great location just a short walk to the main attractions including the shambles, walls and castle. Easy walk to shops, restaurants and the town center. Communal areas were clean and updated. Good size room, with a sofa bed. Safe, Kettle and Mini Fridge. Clean toilets. The staff were excellent efficient, helpful and friendly. They even allowed us to check in early as our room was ready, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was good with decent variety and lots of seating space. Overall, the positives far outweighed the negatives. The combination of location and service makes this hotel a great choice.

On the downside, the bed was quite low to the floor and not very comfortable. There were also a few stains on the carpet. Also, generally you would expect complimentary bottles of water.

Fairly modern hotel. 10 minutes walk from York railway station. (or take the bus). Nice size rooms. Super clean. Quiet location. NB. this is the Hampton Hilton on Picadilly Road. There is another Hampton Hilton near the busy railway station. Good breakfast with plenty of room in dining area and relaxed atmosphere. Within easy 10 min walk to town centre, the Shambles, York Town walls, York Minster, Jorvik viking centre.

A minor thing but a card next to the control switch saying how to use central heating and A/C would have been useful.
