This place is a must stay if you are spending the night in the magical Miyajima Island. It's a traditional japanese inn with everything you need and more, it's a short walk from the ferry station and far from the crowds, but the hotel also provides a shuttle bus for guests that is super covenient. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a very peaceful view of the sea and the cute deers, and with futon beds that were really comfortable. The food was really good, both dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend to get these meals, not only for the whole experience but also for the convenience since the places in the city closes very early. The hotel also have an onsen, for women and men, ping pong table, hammock and a souvenir shop. Also I cannot forget to mention about the amazing and kind staff, from the reception to the drivers that took us to the city thank you so much for everything. We wished we have stayed one more day to enjoy more this place.

Nothing, everything was just perfect.

- staff were the biggest bonus to this accommodation. So helpful and friendly. Nothing was a hassle. Felt like they gave us a traditional Japanese stay and treatment which was amazing! - big comfortable rooms. Staff delivered our evening meal in our rooms then following this came in to make up our beds. - Very peaceful location but staff were so helpful at picking up our luggage prior to check in. Then picking us up when requested from the information centre at the ferry pier. And then again dropping our luggage off to us at the pier after check out when we had already left the hotel. - if you ever wondered if it’s worth staying in Miyajima overnight, it absolutely is and definitely worth it at this hotel!!

Nothing - it was great!

The courtesy and service by the staff is outstanding. From the moment we arrived at Miyajima to the moment we left, the warm service is very personable. One of the staff came to meet us at the pier to collect our bags so we can sight see hands free. They then collected us from the pier when we were tired and ready to check in. The views from the room was spectacular - lovely sea views with mountains, islands, and deer roaming around in the garden. The food served at dinner and breakfast were plentiful and delicious. The futon and doona was comfortable. The aircon kept the room comfortable. The public bath was also really great to sooth sore muscles. They also dropped off our bags at the pier so that we can sight see hands free before leaving the island. It was our first experience of a ryokan style accomodation and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

There was nothing that we did not like. Worth knowing that it is an older style hotel which we thought was really charming and really added to the whole experience.

I stayed here one night on my final night before leaving Japan after a month of traveling. This was the perfect place to spend that final night. The staff were so incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel is a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) and serves a Kaiseki dinner to you in your room. You sleep on a futon on the tatami floor. There is a nice public bath (onsen/sento) available. The photos on here are accurate. You have a beautiful sea view out your window. It is truly a magical experience. There are deer walking around outside as you eat breakfast. It’s just so serene and peaceful. Everyone should experience something like this on their trip to Japan. Quit reading. Book it!

The food was incredible - so, so, so worth it! Looking at the menus on their website, I realized this booking was for the most expensive seasonal menu they had, and it was worth every single penny. The quality, freshness, & amount of the food could not have been any higher. The room was impeccably clean and huge, with a lovely view at all times of the day. After dinner, the hotel provides a free shuttle to the torii gates so you can see them at night - they give you about 45 mins there and then drive you back. The onsen was pretty big and very clean, too, with a large dressing room with different beauty products (even a UV hairbrush sanitizer machine). This was our 3rd ryokan stay and it was by far the best one!

Traditional Ryokan stay, with dinner and breakfast included. Shuttle bus service to and from the ferry terminal was very good and quick.. Hotel collected our luggage from the ferry terminal when we arrived in the morning, and then picked us up at the end of the day., each time with just a few minutes of calling them. Dinner and breakfast very traditional Japanese meals. Not greatly to our taste, but well worth the experience. Dinner served in our room, seated on the floor. After dinner, the table is cleared away and the beds are made-up. Good location, a bit away from the main areas, but adjacent to a beach and small working harbour.

Somewhat expensive for what you get.

We just stayed here and we absolutely loved it. The hotel will come and collect your bags for you when you arrive from the ferry onto the island so you can go off and explore. You can then call them when you arrive ready to go to the hotel and check in. There is a shuttle service that take you from the hotel to the village throughout the day and evening. All the staff were so lovely and the service was amazing. The food was fantastic too! We were served an amazing traditional meal in our room and then a great traditional breakfast in the restaurant. It’s a quaint place to stay and has been looked after well and is super clean. We also rented the hotel bikes to have an explore which was fun. They are only ¥500 per person. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Miyajima.

Nothing, it was fantastic.

Very peaceful. The staff was really accommodating and brought me my dinner to my room.

We had to remove our shoes and put on the slippers they provided before approaching the front desk to register. I really don’t like wearing shoes others have worn before…so it was not very comfortable for me but good thing I had socks on. The building is old and yet the tatami mats looked new. I think I’m a bit too old to be sleeping on a futon on the floor and eating while sitting on the floor. Also, I saw a centipede in my room just before I left in the morning. I’m glad I didn’t see it before I went to sleep! Also, the view I had was of the dock…not a very peaceful looking view.

This accommodation was a dream. We had stunning views of the ocean with wild deers running outside. All staff were so polite and accommodating. Our stay included a traditional dinner and breakfast. The traditional dinner was served in our rooms on chabudai tables and cooked by candle in front of us. The dinner was a multi-course meal of traditional Japanese foods local to the area. The breakfast was a combination of traditional and Japanese foods. The beds were comfortable despite being low to the floor. I couldn't recommend this experience enough. A highlight of our Japan trip!

It was around 1.5km from the ferry terminal and main city area; however, they had a free shuttle bus that ran about every 15 minutes till 6 pm. No other shops near the accommodation so had to get any food/ drinks on sight.

Oh my god this place is stuck in the last century in a good way. Furniture is dated, staff is not too young either. But it's a lovely charming time capsule with so much to enjoy. They don't only offer a free shuttle when you arrive and leave, but also when you want to see the floating torii lit up during the evening. Sea view from the room is something I wish I had more days to enjoy. Room service drinks are a great way to ease into the slower pace of the place. A quick dip in the onsen and they're already bringing the food to your room, setting up the table, carefully explaining each dish. And there's more and more fresh seasonal dishes coming. After that, if you choose to enjoy the night views, your bed is made, you just have to slide in, or take another dip. In the summer it could be even nicer, but I want to experience this place in all seasons. There's deer running below your window all the time. It's just crazy.

Maybe the dated equipment? The noisy fridge which says "unplug if too loud"? The 20 inch TV? These are not even things I didn't like, I found them cute. Don't change anything please. OK, maybe a fridge upgrade.
