The Location is fantastic. Very close to the city centre and yet quiet. The room was small but the beds were very comfortable. The hotel and the room was clean. Housekeeping staff was very attentive and looking out for our needs.

Our room was next to the elevator, which caused a bit of noise. The common areas of the hotel are a bit dated, with worn carpets etc. And for me most annoying was the availability of the reception staff. They were just not there for check out and there was no bell or anything else to get their attention.

The room was very nice with a decent amount of space and a nice relaxing area with a sofa and armchair. On the whole it was fairly quiet although late night revelry outside caused us to close windows at night (this may have been worse because of being on the side of the hotel adjacent to a multi storey car park). The hotel is well located for the castle and bars and restaurants and only a short stroll from the heart of the city. It is also good for the many buses that serve stops on Maid Marion Way.

Not much to fault but the lifts are a bit clunky and the breakfast (not included in the room rate) could have been a bit better.

Overall, I am very happy with the stay. Owen and the ladies who cleaned the rooms were very helpful and friendly. I stayed in a 'crash pad' (I think that's what it is called) and it was very good. It had an iron and an ironing board, a hairdryer, a TV, a kettle, a wall-mounted desk, a chair and a good-sized bed. Water pressure was great and they had left things like tea bags, hot chocolate sachets, biscuits, milk and bottles of water as well as small bottles of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Rooms were cleaned regularly and things were replenished. The view was not good and the room could be bigger but I did not mind it that much. Also, the corridors could be a little cleaner although it was nothing major. A mirror inside the lifts would also be nice. Location is very good. It's about a 10-minute walk from the coach/train stations and the city centre. It's a couple of minutes away from the castle, the 'Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem' and the Robin Hood statue.

There was only one issue. The air conditioning was on all the time. Which in the summer would have been perfect. But when we got in from night out it was freezing and uncomfortable unless you were wrapped up in bed. The directory had said there was a thermostat on the wall to adjust the settings but I couldn’t see anywhere to change it. This was the only problem we had. We had room number 115

Comfortable hotel, in a good location for the city centre. Nottingham has really good public transport and we took buses and trams to get around. The hotel is up a hill from the station so if you walk, be prepared for a climb. Our room had a good view across the city. We were in a twin which had everything you needed. Maybe some things could do with a refresh but everything was clean and we slept well. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. All the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Perhaps some of the room decor/hallways could be refreshed but this didn't spoil our stay.

It's a return visit for us and ideal for a Christmas break. The room was a good size with an area we used for luggage and getting dressed. Breakfast was plentiful and a good choice. Staff are very friendly and helpful, despite working over the Christmas holidays. We loved the little Christmas stocking we found on our door on Christmas morning. Just a little touch but really thoughtful.

The parking thing was a little convoluted; "You can use the hotel parking but the NCP next door is cheaper." If you go NCP, then you are given one ticket for each day of your stay. Don't know what the restriction is for this but I would suggest it needs another look as to how to make it easier for guests.

the room was a good size for 2 adults and a kid, relatively clean and with good option to put personal items like bags/toys, books etc. Good heating option, so was easy to get the warmth considering freezing weather outside. Comfortable beds and pillows and enough space to sleep comfortably. Easy system of preliminary check-in and option to get a ticket to get a discount for parking. Very good location, as it's an easy walk to the city-center, castle and oldest pub in England :)

there was not much of a wardrobe or option to place the coats and jackets. Considering they are used outside in rain and wet snow, I would not put them next to bathrobes in the wardrobe. Wardrobe itself was a bit "tired" and needs replacement. Shower also needs a change, as the cold water was more leaking into bath than coming into shower. I also question the glass shelves in the bath. They are not straight, so whatever was placed on them with all the steam, slides down into bath... there was not proper ventilation in the bathroom/shower, hence all the steam and smells went into room when door was open. Luckily the windows were possible to open and air the room a bit.

Attentive and friendliness of staff a real positive. You could see the thought that went into making our stay as comfortable as possible. We loved the Xmas stocking placed on our door handle when we woke up Xmas morning. I've stayed in hotels this time of year in the past and have never received anything - well done St. James!

Whilst the actual time spent at the hotel was minimal, I wouldn't class it as an 4* hotel, rather a solid 3. The finishing touches could've been better such as bathroom area and carpets looked a little worse for wear in some areas. That being said, the things going for it meant we would stay again.

The hotel was very conveniently located in the centre of Nottingham. I would recommend it as a good place to stay as there is loads of parking nearby and everything that you will need on foot. The staff are very helpful. The Wi-Fi was good and the facilities were good.

There were only two minor things The first one is that it was hard to open and close the window as they were in a cove so to speak so you had to climb on something to be able to open and close the windows . Also this morning housekeeping knocked out the door at 9:30 when it was checkout day . It’s not really a problem, but I wouldn’t expect that as it’s New Year’s Day.

Loved the location, the entrance, bar and breakfast room, the decor and the breakfast available. The room was clean and had all the things we need (and more eg gowns, safe etc) Good value for money for city centre just after Christmas. The room was quiet and peaceful overnight.

The bathroom in our room was a bit battered and tired. The pillows were a bit thin and could have done with 2. I could have asked but by the time we were back from a night out and got in to bed I could t be bothered to ask. If we had, I am confident it would have been sorted as staff were helpful and polite.
