I love this place so much, it is safe to consider it as my second home now (laughs). The staff has to be the best: from the beautiful, smiling souls at the front desk (Tshegofatso, Bongi, Matshidiso, just to name a few), restaurant, and house keeping; the best! The hotel is located at close proximity to the Hatfield Gautrain station (a street away), multiple fast food joints such McDonald's, Mochachos, Wimpy, etc and others stores necessary for getting convenient necessities (Click's, MrPrice, Sportscene, Van Skyk) There's a designated parking which is gated and shuttle services convenient for everyone travelling to/from the airport. I got upgraded to a superior room which had a Comfortable bed, clean sheets, spacious shower with hot water, a safe for safe storing of my valuables, functional phone, proper lighting, a working desk, multiple charging points and a balcony that gave me a limited view of the city and allowed me to bask in the rays of the sun in the morning.

That I had to eventually check-out ...oh man🥺

Location very convenient for movement around town, close to the Gautrain station, staff very polite, friendly and helpful, breakfast and food is great. The room and bed was very comfortable, kudos to the housekeeping team for cleanliness. If in Pretoria again, I would definitely stay again. And would recommend it.

(1) The Airport shuttle service let me down, I didn't get picked up as per booking request; and then on checking out the booking wasn't there - thankfully the staff on duty were helpful in resolving this. (2) A reminder to guests to maintain noise levels down in the corridors.

I checked-in on my birthday and the beautiful ladies at the front desk (Tshegofatso and Sibongile) organised with the chef to bring me a slice of cake in my room ( such a thoughtful gesture 🥺♥️🤭). The hotel is easy to locate with all amenities in good condition, housekeeping is always ready to be of service (the property is CLEAN ) & there's a gated parking for those that are driving. The menu of the restaurant located on ground floor can be accessible on the TV in your room on the IN-DINING Menu, and for those who prefer eating outside, the hotel is located near tons of food joints including Ocean Basket, Wimpy, Chicken Licken,Nandos, Mochachos, etc. In a nutshell, Protea Hotel has become my home away from home; Booking.com is my witness😄 BOOK YOUR STAY ALREADY!!!!

I didn't like the fact that I had to go back home, that's it.

Room was clean, breakfast was excellent.

My family an i decided to have the buffet dinner on the night we arrived. We were told that dinner is from 6:30 pm until 10:00pm, we went at 7:30 only to find out that most of the things were finished and they were not going to be refilled because there was no more. There was not much of a variety and i think the price per person was a bit too much for what was offered. We were very disappointed and i wouldn't recommend the buffet dinner to my family and friends. I would rate the buffet dinner 1.

The food was great plus the stuff was very nice to us thank you 😘

the fact that it is right opposite a very noisy entertainment venue , News Cafe . I could only get some sleep after 1 am when the closed . The hotel’s windows does not help much to keep noise levels out , even people walking past and talking could be clearly heard from inside your room .

Room - very comfortable bed and sanitary accessories - exceptionally clean linen and towels. Breakfast - good breakfast and flexible serving time

Restaurant menu - the technology of bar code scanning assumes all travelers are up-to date technologically. Staff should be told to be helpful and offer alternatives where a customer is not able to scan the menu instead of letting them dine out and miss out on this nice restaurant. I was forced to eat out on the first day (after 26 hours of flying!) because the staff available did not offer any alternatives when my phone failed to scan. On the second night, the staff available offered to assist when my phone still failed to scan, he offered to use his phone to get the menu and place my order.

I loved the kindness I received from Matshidiso. She was very attentive and clear, she gave complete information to all my questions and made many helpful suggestions. Before I travelled, I had questions, and she's the one who took the call I made to inquire. One would say I was technically not yet a guest, but we chatted like I'd already paid for my room. I haven't received such beautiful service before. She's clearly a feather in hotel@hatfield's cap, and I commend her for that. At the hotel, Kabelo, who was in charge of the shuttle, was also very friendly yet respectful: that's a rare combination in todays service industry. Hotel@hatfield is one place I'd recommend without a second thought, even if I was basing only on these two staff members. That said, the facilities were very efficient, the room and bathroom were very clean, well maintained and well lit. The staff was efficient and helpful, and I genuinely received great value for money, including a room upgrade! Bravo hotel@hatfield, keep it up, and you're going places!

I had to call the hotel before I travelled. I loved how clear and kind Matshizolo was when she took the call. She answered all my questions and set all my worries to rest! She was even kinder in person throughout my stay at the hotel. She's the embodiment of the beautiful service I received at hotel@hatfield. My other appreciation was Kabelo, who was in charge of the shuttle service. He was very friendly, respectful, and informative. My experience with these two human beings would bring me back to stay at hotel@hatfield again. The hotel itself is clean and well maintained. The WiFi was super dependable. The photos I saw online didn't lie at all. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!
