My room and everything in it was clean (and cleaned daily) the shower was spacious. The entrance to main door and for own room is based on numerical key pads. It all felt very safe and secure. The location in the “old town” was fantastic, exactly what I wanted, a couple minutes walk from metro and many other pubs and restaurants. Communications over Whatsapp were great, I arranged to “check in virtually” as I’d be arriving very late, that all worked fine, the staff also let me leave my suitcase with them for a few hours after check out.

My room didn’t have any view. It also had no air conditioning, and as I result I didn’t sleep too well due to the heat and noise of the fan: this was my fault for not checking A/C was a feature. I would really have liked a little refrigerator in the room to keep drinks cold. I was told that’s not a service they offer and that's a shame.

The accomodation is in the old town, very much in the center, 5min walk from the nearest metro station. There are a lot of bars around and breakfast places as well. I have to highlight that the windows close and seal the noise from the street amazingly - very important feature because there is a bar right under the hostel. Very clean and recently renovated rooms, I really liked staying here.

Everything was great - except the shower tap in the bathroom - very attractive and modern design, but not really ergonomic to adjust with wet hands and one day it also got stuck on the hottest setting and we couldn't turn it back, had to call for maintenance. Tiny detail, and may be bothering only us.

Honestly one of the best places I've ever stayed in. The staff are very friendly, spoke English very well and in general, were lovely to talk to. You receive your room number, and door codes upon check-in. The location is really good. It's close to public transport, shops, plenty of food and drink places. The room itself was very clean, the bathroom was beautiful and the shower was powerful and spacious. It has plenty of loo roll, shower gel, shampoo and a really powerful hairdryer. The towels were clean too. The bed, my god it was comfy. It was memory foam and I got 3 really good night's of sleep. It has a little balcony too if you want to enjoy the Spanish atmosphere. The cleaners were friendly too, they're very professional and respectful. They won't touch your belongings, just fixing your bed and bathroom. I really wish I had some cash on me to leave for them because they did an excellent job. When staying here, please remember that it is typical for Spaniards to socialise until later on at night. There are a few bars near the hotel so until around 23:00, there is still some hustling and bustling

Great hotel! Comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathtub was excellent, very convenient. The room had heating, so if it was cold, we could turn it on. The location is excellent. We were lucky to have windows facing the inner courtyard, so it was quite quiet. I think if the windows face the outside, it might be very noisy on weekends because there are many cafes and people around the hotel. We arrived late and were able to check in ourselves as they sent us instructions. They also let us leave our backpacks until the evening on the day of departure, which was very convenient.

On the downside, unfortunately, I had poor internet. The reason was that the router didn’t reach our room well, and I only had one bar of signal.

Arena Suites Bilbao offers great apartments and rooms. Situated in the central part of Casco Viejo on a street with pintxos bars mostly attended by locals is a fantastic starting point in exploring Bilbao. My room had a view of the street which meant however that at night it was pretty lively. So if sound is an issue for you, bear that in mind. The staff was great in giving me an upgrade when I mentioned it would be ideal if I could use a fridge (my room did not come with a fridge). The apartment was very clean, newly refurbished with a full kitchen and area to hang clothing. The doors open to a French balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom was spacious and super clean and the building works with a code for the door of the building, a separate code for the floor your are staying and another code for you room. So super safe.

The building being one of the beautiful old buildings in the Casino Viejo neighbourhood does not have an elevator only pretty old stairs which means that with heavy luggage or if mobility is an issue it would not be a great fit.

Zazpikaleak/Casco Viejo was a great area especially if arriving late in the evening like we did. Restaurants nearby were open fairly late and had good reviews. Cafes were near for the next morning too. Also Escaleras de Solokoetxe was on the same street as Arenal Suites. Plaza Nuevo was a short walk and we loved it immensely. Great price for the area, we were very happy! And the hotel, the room itself, and bathroom were all upgraded!

The description for our room did not mention that the 2 windows overlook basically an interior, open-air chute. I think that could have soften the surprise but otherwise we were super satisfied.

The room was great. This was my second time staying at Arenal suites in Bilbao and I really enjoy their service, their location and their comfortable rooms. At first the bathroom had a bit of a smell after check in, but it quickly aired out. I think this is due to old construction and improper shower sewer pipe management in older European buildings (this was not the first stay I have been to with this issue).

Everything was good, the room was spacious with big and nice shower, we had two little balconies (closed and open good for the rainy Bilbao :D For the short stay its perfect.

We personally did not suffer too much the stairs, as we got apartment on 1st floor, but this needs to be taken in consideration if you have a lot of luggage it will be a challenge to get it up the stairs as there is no elevator, but building is old and stairs are beautiful, understandable why there is no elevator.

Very central, spotless clean and quiet room. It faced the back of the building, so it had no view. But you could not hear a single thing! The staff is lovely and the location is perfect to explore the city.

No lift, you need to walk to the first floor. Not a big deal but take it into consideration.

The only thing that I did not like was the noise of the crowds during the evenings/nighttime on the street below. It’s understandable because the room faced a busy/popular street, however, I would have preferred a room that was towards the rear of the building/away from the street. Also a kettle and a mug would have been a nice touch :)
