Room was comfortable and bathroom clean with a good shower. Safe environment with 24 hour reception. Lift really useful as had luggage for a 3 weeks holiday. Very very central for historic centre and restaurants, bars, supermarkets and markets. Minutes from Sol station. Felt safe as lone female. Public transport close by. Staff helpful.

There was no kettle in room which was big disappointment. Main drawback though was the street noise. Yes, Madrid is the city that never sleeps but neither could I - even with window shut so no fresh air - the street noise was very loud right through to 4am. For this reason, although everything else positive I would not book again as I got hardly any sleep. For night owls!

The Hostal is clean and comfortable, and the people working at the 24/7 front desk were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size and have a nice balcony with views of the street below. The hostal is in a great location and is within walking distance to many attractions, as well as the metro. I appreciated that the hostal allowed us to store bags when we arrived before check-in time (note: you will need 2€ per locker to store bags, but the lockers are large and hold a lot).

The area is a bit noisy, with people staying out late in the bars and restaurants below. This is no fault of the hostal, though, and the noise really didn't bother us.

Staff were very welcoming, check-in/out was straightforward, and we were able to store bags before flights. A small lift as well, which was useful! Our room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was well equipped, and the shower pressure/temperature was great. Beds were a little firm for my preference but slept well. There was the expected noise from the street in the middle of a capital city centre, but didn't go on until early hours or keep us awake. The location is really great if you want to stay central, walking distance to most sights, or loads of taxis, 4 mins away from metro.. There are plenty of great restaurants, taverns, bars on the doorstep, and in any direction you travel!

Newly decorated rooms are spacious and fresh. Location is more than perfect! If you need hairdryer, you need to ask at the reception.

We booked Hostel Marlasca based on the photos we saw on Booking. However, when we came, they gave us old smelly and dirty room on the 4th floor. We made a complaint, but they told us that they do not have newly renovated rooms free, and that they will organise new room for next day. They did, however, we did not pay for that old room, and it sure was not on their page....(we have not got refund for that night).

The hotel is very well located, close to Puerta del Sol, which is in the middle of the Centro Histórico. The staff was very nice and helpful, the room had a comfortable double bed, and the bathroom was modern and clean.

I wish there was a hair dryer included in the room and that there were just two normal pillows instead of a single long one, which was a bit weird. Also, I don’t like that you need coins for the baggage lockers, as I usually don’t carry any cash on me.

Location, ease, nice room. It was a great place to stay. I was expecting "no frills" as this is a hostel, not a hotel (and what I wanted for a quick stay before flying out) - but it exceded expectations! It was "basic" but basic doesn't mean bad!

Nothing! Some people might not like that you can hear noise from the city-life below. It was never so loud we couldn't sleep- it was just "background noise" and didn't bother us at all.

Location is superb close to all sightseeing and restaurants, especially to Sol metro where you can take Renfe suburban train and metro. Casa Toni restaurant is just downstairs who serve good local foods. They have a lift to the rooms. There's vending machines that serve free hot water.

Very noise from the bar and pub nearby. The tourist tends to have beers all night long till very late around 5am. Luckily we did bring earplugs otherwise would be hard to sleep.

Nice and cozy Hostal, in the center of town. Close to shops, restaurants and metro (Puerta de Sol station). Reception personnel friendly. Building with elevator and even though the window is front of a busy area when closed is silent enough. A good value for money location for short stays.

The towels were pure polyester, difficult to use. No hairdryer in the room. Very small bathroom, like 2/2 meters in total.

the location was fab! super close to train system, lots of amenities close by and great inner-city vibes for our first time in Madrid. bathroom is small but everything you need is there. rooms are cozy with a great little balcony overlooking the street. Staff at check-in were lovely - helping us improve our Spanish and also speaking english with us. a great hotel overall! would recommend!

The location is unbeatable. Literally right next to the hotel are streets full of restaurants / bars / shops, and less than 5 minutes walking you are at the city center / a major metro station. It is so convenient. The hostel fulfills its function (everything works fine, good air conditioning, clean beddings, etc.). There's even a small balcony!

Not very soundproof - you could hear music and the crowd cheering late at night if your room is facing the restaurant streets.
