The staff were genuinely kind and helpful throughout my stay. When I had an issue with access to the garage — the road leading to it was closed — they went out of their way to assist and find a solution, which I really appreciated. The location of the hotel is another strong point. It’s very central; within about 15 minutes on foot, you can reach the cathedral and many of the city's main attractions. The surrounding area is full of traditional shops, cafés, and restaurants that feel authentic and local — definitely not tourist traps. It’s a great place to get a feel for the everyday life of the city. Walking through the nearby streets, I discovered some charming spots that felt very genuine and off the beaten path.
The facilities overall felt a bit outdated, and the room I stayed in was quite small compared to what I expected. The flooring in my room was noticeably worn out, with several areas in need of repair or replacement, which gave the space a tired appearance. While the bathroom was clean and functional, the rest of the room could benefit from some renovation. Another major issue for me was the poor sound insulation between rooms. I was surprised by how easily I could hear noise from neighboring rooms and even someone snoring from across the hall, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. This lack of acoustic privacy significantly impacted my comfort during the stay.

Location, location, location! I chose this hotel for it's proximity to the train/bus station (5 min walk). I arrived by train from Madrid on Tuesday and was taking the bus to Muxia for the night and returning by bus Wednesday late afternoon. I was traveling with a large suitcase and small rolling computer bag. I didn't want to take the large bag with me to Muxia so I popped into the hotel to ask if they'd hold it for me until I checked in the next day. They didn't even hesitate to say "yes". Upon check in the next day, the staff were kind and efficient. The room was very clean and provided all that was needed including air conditioning! The bed was very comfortable and I didn't hear any of the adjoining rooms or foot steps from above so I slept serenely. The bath was also very clean and had a bidet; I love a bidet! The liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash were organic and had a lovely light scent. Oh, and the walk to old town and the cathedral was an easy 15/20 minutes.
It was more of an "uggh" than anything. Upon entering the building there were 2 sets of 5 stairs with a landing between before you get to the elevator to reception. As mentioned previously, I had a large suitcase and a small computer roller bag. The large bag required two hands to carry up the stairs, so, when I saw them my reaction was "uggh".

This Hostal was better than many other 3* hotels. The room was compact, but comfortable and cleaned daily. Our room on the 7th floor had a large balcony with table and chairs so we could dine outside, The roller shutter reduced any street noise overnight. The staff were excellent- friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the historic old town and a beautiful park and about 700m walking distance from the railway station. The breakfast bar next door was adequate, but there are many other cafes nearby.
It would have been great to have a fridge and tea-making facilities in the room, but this was not expected in the budget price.

We picked this location because it is close to Santiago intermodal station (train and bus). The property was able to accomplish our request for a private triple. We really liked the terrace outside our room with a table where we could sit and talk and eat outdoors. The property was very clean and modern. We liked that our luggage was secured with a claim check in a locked room when we left it there for a couple of hours after we checked out. It's a short 15-minute walk to the Cathedral of Santiago from the property.
There are not that many restaurant choices in the area. The nearest ATM (cajero) is about 3 blocks away.

The location was superb. I had no problem finding a F&B outlets or restaurants. Although there was no breakfast provided inside the hotel, the cafe on the ground floor provides special menu for MexicoPR guests. All staff understand and speak English. The hotel staff provided me with a map. Everything MexicoPR has was good enough for a first time visitor like me, who was on a solo trip visiting Spain for the first time.
Not that I can think of.

Great location, clean room, good value. Would use again. Generously they allowed me to leave my luggage on the day of departure while I explored the city.
The air conditioning was in winter mode, which meant for a hot and stuffy room with high temperatures outside. There was no way to cool the (small) room. (Although I did realise the radiator was also belting out heat, and fortunately you could open the window).

Welcome relief after a few weeks in the Camino - was only a km from the cathedral and very close to the bus and train station when leaving. Laundromat around the corner and supermarket across the road. Thee room was very small but I didn’t need much space and was enough. The big winner was the bath - so hard to find accomodation with a bath in Spain - and nothing better for weary muscles … the staff were lovely and were there 24/7 - tolerated my poor Spanish before politely finding someone who spoke English or using excellent English themselves. Vending machine at reception for water coffee and food and nice open lounge area near reception. Bed was comfy
It was obviously dated and worn - but I was not expecting plush or new surrounds for the price - and there were a few steps to enter property and get to the lift which were manageable … and there were rails and there was a bit of noise early in evening but was ok after 10

The location was good for us, between the centre and the bus station where we needed to catch a bus after checking out. The check-in process was easy and the receptionist was very friendly. The room itself was nice, with a comfortable bed and air conditioning that worked well. The bathroom, although a little dated, was still nice and clean.
The only negative perhaps is that the doors are quite thin so it was easy to hear noise in the corridor, but this didn't bother us personally.

These were contemporary rooms in a large hostel. Each had its own bathroom, they were clean and tidy with comfortable beds. This is a professional operation with 24hr reception on the 4 th floor. Our room was on the 6th floor, lift it all floors. The staff we met were exceptionally helpful. There was a large lounge area on the 4th floor with a vending machine. It’s about a 20 min walk to the cathedral.
It would be a nice if there had been a kettle in the room to make a cuppa!

Great location, very close to the train station and airport bus. Really good that they have big shower gel and shampoo containers fixed to the bathroom wall instead of using small plastic bottles that are bad for the environment. The bed was very comfortable and the room very clean.
There was a male guest who made noise all night long, screaming and shouting inside and outside his room, but staff didn't do anything about it. Male staff were very pleasant but the woman could be more approachable - she didn't smile at all and looked like working there was some sort of punishment for her.
