We arrived at Hotel Herradura after finishing the Camino Ingles on the day Spain lost its power. It was a stressful time as a visitor in Santiago de Compostela but we were so lucky to be booked to stay for two nights at this hotel. When we arrived we were met by welcoming and reassuring reception staff. Our luggage which had been transferred earlier in the day had been taken up to our room already. A staff member walked us up to our room, up a staircase lit by flameless candles and we were given candles for our room. It was a very comfortable room and we were surprised and delighted to be able to have a hot shower even with the power out. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk to the Cathedral. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

The breakfast set up was akward, you seat down and they ask you what you want of things that are behind the glass, it’s continental and basically carbs, eggs are not included in the price. Tea and coffee are not available outside of breakfast time and the bed and duvet were hard and not soft at all. At 90euros/night I expected more

We stayed prior to walking The Caminho and also after we completed it. Everything about Hotel Herradura was exceptional. If we return to Santiago, it will be our first preference. The location for us was perfect, close to the cathedral area and close to the city area. You couldn't ask for a better staff. They were exceptional and more than willing to help in any way. Finally, the hotel has so much charm and is very well maintained.

We can't think of a thing that would be a negative for us.

A two night stay at the end of a Camino walk that proved to be a fantastic choice. From the initial entry into an air-conditioned foyer, with light piano music, my stay was relaxed and well managed. Excellent uniformed reception staff completed a very efficient check in and operated the foyer cafe area very professionally. A nice twin room with ensuite was cool and relaxing with good beds and plenty of pillows. The bathroom, while small, was very clean and nicely styled. Breakfasts in the cafe area are table service and are of good quality and amount. The hotel is close to the pedestrian area and the Cathedral for easy evening restaurants. The park to the rear is tree lined and a nice place in the afternoon heat. Nothing to complain about. I will definitely use again when I return due to the ambience, staff and overall atmosphere. Lovely.

The room was immaculate and prepared well ahead of my scheduled check-in time, which was incredibly convenient. I was able to check in at 12 p.m. instead of the usual 4 p.m. The staff members were exceptionally helpful and even arranged a taxi for me the following day. The night staff, particularly Antonio, were incredibly friendly and took a genuine interest in my experiences on the Camino. The shower was remarkable, and the soaps provided in the room were of high quality. I am grateful for the wonderful experience, which served as an excellent conclusion to my journey in Santiago.

I stayed here after finishing the Camino Primitivo. It's an old-Europe hotel with an old-Europe feel about it. For me it was a welcome change from 12 days of Albergues. I didn't spend much time in the hotel except to sleep and get organized for my trip home. Every staff member I met was extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and, in my opinion an excellent value.

This was no big deal but my room had three twin beds in it when it was probably build to accommodate two. Didn't leave a lot of room in the room. I assume they did this because platonic Camino travelers are common guests. This is such a minor issue that I probably shouldn't even mention it. But since you asked...

The staff were wonderful! They got our room ready at 8am, so we were able to start enjoying Santiago right away. The breakfast was good and the torta de Santiago was one of the best we have in our trip. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much thanks to the superb hotel staff.

The showers were tiny buy we managed. It was a small inconvenience that is all.

Great location, very easy walking to old town and, in the opposite direction, to other shops and facilities you might need. The staff were all lovely. Breakfast was very reasonably priced. The room was spotless and there was a nice little table with two chairs to sit at. There is a lift from ground floor.

Our room had a double bed which is a bit too short for taller people, I had to sleep with my knees bent. The bathroom was also small, the shower was about 60x60 cm (24”) and with the tap handles already sticking out it made for a very tight fit.

Location superb. Staff very helpful and very nice and spoke English which was very helpful. Parking a little distant but safe and secure and you pay the hotel. Breakfast was very generous. A traditional hotel with charm and character.

The room and the double bed were both quite small and there was too much furniture and an extra single bed. No fridge and air conditioning poor. As we were on the top floor with velux windows there was no view.

This is a fantastic property in a great location literally five minutes walk from the old town, and no more than 10 minutes from the cathedral and all the main sites. The best thing, without a shadow of a doubt are the staff, incredibly friendly and helpful, resolving any issues immediately. We had a problem the first night as our air-conditioning wasn’t working, and we were immediately moved to an even nicer room. The rooms and communal spaces are warm, welcoming and well furnished, and the breakfast excellent, served calmly and efficiently with a friendly smile and delicious! If I return, I will definitely stay here again! 

Apart from the issue with the air-conditioning not working, everything was perfect
