We loved the location. It was clean and comfortable. The pool is fantastic

The extra taxes and service charges make eating in the restaurants very expensive and you don’t really know what it is going to cost. I would rather the service charge wasn’t included, leaving me free to tip quality service. I tend not to tip if there is a service charge. We actually didn’t know what all the taxes were as at other places there was just a tax and sometimes a service charge here there seemed to be an extra one.

- quite, relax and good to enjoy in the bar. - beautiful sea facing pool, been part of the bar. - food was good. - Japanese restaurant food was the best & staff relax nice. - music & di was great in the bar. - thanks to the staff, making our stay great.

- it not negative comment, things to improve. 1st - no offense ( our room was in DND) but IVD knock the door in the morning to deliver surprise birthday cake for my wife. Human error can happen. Understandable but we should focus on guest privacy and professional SOP. 2nd - HK team knock the door while( our Room was DND), same might happen busy operation but they mixup the room number for checkout room. Our room was villa 1501 but check out room was v1502. This are things we as hotelier to be mindful. A small details.

Modern & Stylish Rooms – The room was spacious, clean, and had a great contemporary design. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was well-equipped.
 Breathtaking Views – The ocean & city dual-view room was absolutely worth it! Waking up to the sunrise over the water was a highlight.
 Rooftop Pool & Bar – The infinity pool on the rooftop was stunning, the views of the city were breathtaking, and the bar had a great selection of drinks with a relaxing ambiance.
 Friendly Staff – The service was warm and welcoming. The staff was always ready to assist with any requests.
 Special shoutout to the following staff members who went above and beyond: Yonal, at the Reception counter, Pradeep and Kaveesha at Cafe En(Thank you for your service with a smile and a greet!), Pathum, Lahiru, and Harshana with Bell Service(Truly appreciate your efforts in lugging our heavy baggage!), and Asanka in House Keeping (Thank you for keeping our room so clean and comfortable during our stay. Your hard work is truly appreciated!) Great Location – Close to the beach and city attractions, making it convenient for sightseeing and dining. I highly recommend Granbell Hotel Colombo for travelers looking for a modern stay with fantastic views and great amenities. Overall, it’s a great choice in Colombo! I would definitely stay here again. 👍

Areas for Improvement - It would be wonderful if, considering the price you pay for your stay, a complimentary breakfast could be provided to guests. Having to pay for the breakfast was a bit of a turnoff, and as a result, we often had to skip it altogether on a given day or settle for a cheaper option elsewhere.

It was an exceptional experience. The rooms were incredibly spacious, providing ample comfort and relaxation. I was fortunate to stay on the 23rd floor, and the view from there was simply phenomenal. The sight of the sea and the cityscape was breathtaking, especially from the bathtub, which perfectly met my expectations. The weather during my stay was windy and cold, adding a unique charm to the overall experience. It made the cozy ambiance of the room even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel or anyone looking for a memorable stay with stunning views.

Unbelievably good pool on the roof. Excellent buffet breakfast. Comfortable room and good bathroom.

Some pointless technology in the room like the Japanese toilet. Pillows were plastic - never seen this before ever! Very loud air con. Staff were not great at reception - refused to give advice on restaurants or tuk tuks but happy to charge 4 times more for their own services. Also would only give us one key card which meant one of us had to use a torch in the room if the other was out. I have never had to use a torch in a 4/5 star hotel before!

Lovely and attentive bar staff Negatives If you’re facing the train track, might be worth thinking about double glazing your windows and the 5am train coming through is a rude awakening. It’s a shame that if you have late flight you’re not allowed to use the pool and bar facilities, which included purchasing food and drink (standard practice at any other high end hotel) More pool appropriate seating with some shaded options At breakfast there was the option to order a latte, paid, which I don’t mind at all. When I asked the wait staff they said I could get one from the buffet, which I knew I couldn’t. Then when I asked if there was a dairy free option as I’m lactose intolerant and noticed the cafe in the lobby had dairy free options, I was told no and he walked off.

Location very good. Room very spacious. Bathroom very big with separate WC, sink area and fabulous wet room with rain shower and sunken bath overlooking sea. Fridge and kettle in room is very useful. Smart TV in room so logging into Netflix or Prime is available if required. Lovely balcony with sea views. Complimentary bottles of water daily. Beautiful rooftop infinity pool and bar. Our room was cleaned daily by Tuan and always left spotlessly clean and serviced. Iron included in room very useful. Great AC and ceiling fan. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here if we are in Colombo again.

There didn't seem to be WiFi in lobby area on Ground floor at entrance, which is not good if waiting on taxis to message you or if needing to use Google maps etc. WiFi only available from 1st floor reception upwards. That was our experience anyway. WiFi in other parts of the hotel and room was great. A suggestion would be to have WiFi in lobby area too.

This is such a stunning hotel, if you are booking I would Highly recommend you ask for an ocean facing room, even from the fifth floor, when you look out the window all you can see is sky and ocean, it's an incredibly peaceful view. The Hotel it's self is incredibly clean and beautifully designed, The rooms are spacious and simply yet tastefully decorated, the bathroom is very large and the shower had great pressure. There's an infinity pool on the roof, with a little bar which you can sit at in the pool and have food and drinks brought to you, such a relaxing way to end the day especially with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean. The Japanese restaurant on the roof is pretty nice too, great 70's style decor but the menu needs a little work.

I thought the breakfast buffet was a bit lacking in quality, the room seemed too small to have so many people in it especially considering how much space there is in other common parts of the hotel.

We booked the Granbell Hotel in Colombo for 9 nights stay. We found the hotel reception staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel, and our room was very clean and well maintained. We loved our ocean view room, the spacious bathroom, Japanese soaking bathtub and the shower. We also enjoyed the hotel infinity pool and the pool bar where we had drinks in a very lively atmosphere. Granbell is a very busy hotel full of tourists but the staff work very hard to accommodate customer needs and provided us excellent service to which we are very grateful. We like to convey our deepest gratitude and a massive thank you to the hotel reception staff, cleaning staff and all the other staff who does their very best to look after Granbell customers. Thank you.

Wished there was a closet in the room and a few more drawers since only 2 drawers were available and could benefit with a closet for long stays as we stayed for 9 nights. Also it is helpful to have an iron board and an iron in the room due to limited availability to burrow the iron.

no Honeymooner benefits placed they only make welcome bed decoration despite of requesting it in advance and also to provide one dozen bouquet flower arrangements requested prior arrival NOT done. Eventhough I told in the email that I will pay for it. No Honeymooner Cake, No Bathtub petals & bubble bath during turndown services which we requested.
