Grand Serendib was truly a peaceful oasis - spectacular views over Kandy, excellent food, beautiful rooms, amazing pool and great service. While most hotels have felt a little like an episode of Faulty Towers, Grand Serendip was classy and seamless. Highly recommended.

We loved the views and the room, comfortable and modern. The staff were very friendly throughout our stay. This hotel is an excellent option if you’re looking to stay in Kandy!!

Considering it’s a 5-star hotel, we found it odd that anything outside instant coffee and tea at breakfast would have to be charged extra. It seems to be common practice at all hotels we stayed at though, so not a deal breaker at all.

Beautiful hotel with an excellent view overlooking Kandy. If you want to “splurge” a bit on your trip, this hotel is very nice & the staff is lovely. Our room was beautifully decorated & comfortable bed & shower. The balcony had an amazing view!

The dinner buffet didn’t have so many options for the price, I would have expected a bit more for a 5 star hotel. I did not like that while we were eating lunch, one of the waiters told me to hurry come outside for me to see a man right outside by the entrance of the hotel with an elephant covered in chains asking for tourists to take photos. The staff seemed amused by it, but to me It was very upsetting to see and I don’t think is a good look on the hotel at all to support that.

Our room was gorgeous and had a great view over kandy. Roof top bar is very nice. Food was nice

Limited breakfast selection and the lunch/dinner menu are the same so options become quite limited if staying for a while. Pool is small and only 4 loungers available

Where to start with, this is one of the greatest hotels we’ve ever stayed at worldwide and we travel a lot, the food at the hotel is delicious, the service is top-notch, we would like to thank the restaurant manager Sujith, the beautiful ladies Lumbini and Nishani, the handsome waiter Alwis and Buddimal at the reception. The house cleaning staff are wonderful, too bad we couldn’t get their names. The rooms are so beautiful, super clean, mattress and pillows are so comfy, the location is wonderful, great view and 25 min beautiful walk downhill to the lake and city centre, the hotel has tour service, if you are at this hotel, go out and shout: Danu, you will get the most wonderful and kind tour guide in Kandy, such a beautiful heart. This place is the place to be in Kandy. Thank you for great hospitality

We had a pleasant stay at Grand Serendib Hotel. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with all the essential amenities. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing stay. One of the highlights was the beautiful rooftop area — a great spot to unwind, especially in the evening with live music creating a lovely vibe. The food was fresh and well-prepared, and the location offered convenient access to nearby attractions. The hotel is fully accessible for wheelchair users, except for one step at the main entrance — but there's a convenient alternative entrance through the parking area.

Since the hotel is so well designed for accessibility, the only thing missing is a shower chair — which would make the experience truly complete for wheelchair users.

The staff were nice on arrival. we were upgraded to a room with two beds and a great vue with a balcony The room was big and clean modern tv and good ac the bathroom was clean The food was nice the pool had a great vue it feels like it was more of a photo of peace. free parking was helpful Surprisingly, quite at night The best sleep we had in Sir lanka, the beds and pillows were great.

On arrival, my friend filled out a form at the request of the staff. There was an allergy section where my friend wrote that he was allergic to onions. We informed the staff when we ordered, but he still received two courses with onions in them. However, he did get refunded for the dishes that contained onions. The following night, the exact same thing happened; it was the same staff serving us, and one of the staff even made a joke saying, "No onions this time." To our disappointment, both dishes had onions. We didn't complain and left feeling disappointed, and my friend ended up with rashes and stomach issues. We loved everything about the hotel, but this was a big issue for us, and it wasn't taken seriously enough.

An exceptional hotel in Sri Lanka. It was my second trip to Sri Lanka, and this hotel was the best so far ( I stayed in 5-6 different hotels there).The staff was very helpful in everything, not to mention their hospitality, service, and attention to every single detail. When they knew I was allergic to spices, they prepared dinner specially for me without any spices and did their best to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Special thanks to the chef and kitchen staff for that. The room was very clean with a beautiful view from the balcony. Breakfast was very delicious even though only basic dishes were served. Check-in and check-out were very fast without any issues, and reception staff was very welcoming. The location was perfect, right in the centre, with a few minutes' drive to the Temple of Tooth Relic, Kandy viewpoint, and the Cultural centre. We wish we could stay there more.

Lovely hotel with great views down over Kandy. We could relax on the balcony or by the pool area and enjoy the view, the pool area is very small but as most people are out most of the day this didn't seem to be an issue. We had booked to have breakfast and dinner in the hotel as the reviews were so good and we were very pleased with the quality of the meals. The staff are wonderful and cannot do enough for you, special mention to a lovely lady who looked after us at breakfast ensuring that the fruit was always topped up and ordering our omelettes for us and bringing them over. This is quite a small hotel and it feels very friendly and intimate and delivers excellent service. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again if we return to Sri Lanka.

We were very disappointed on our final evening when we ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with our meal and were told that the hotel had no white wine to be sold by the glass except Muscadet.

Being on the top floor meant that scraping tables on the upper floor was very noisy in the room especially at 7am! Western dinner choices, pasta, fish and chips, chicken and chips, burger were disappointing compared to food we have eaten in Sri Lanka so far. We had to fill out our choice in advance on a piece of paper but despite this they got my order wrong and I ended getting the correct meal once my husband had finished eating. Wine on bill was priced as more expensive than shown on the menu. When queried instead on just changing it, they said it was because it was a different wine from the menu but they would give us 10% off!
