Very pleasant and friendly hotel in a great location close to the railway station. There is a lovely park just a short stroll away, perfect for a picnic on a sunny day. The breakfasts were good. We especially enjoyed the free tea/coffee and cakes provided in the reception area and there were comfortable lounges to sit in.

The room had a wardrobe for hanging clothes, but lacked any drawers for storing smaller items.

The room is very cozy, clean and well laid out. The hotel is located next to the train station, in the city center, surrounded by many large shopping malls for shopping and dining. The hotel's decoration is also very beautiful and retro. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel's breakfast is very delicious, with a wide variety of options, and you can make your own waffles. There is a bakery and beverage in the lobby, which tastes very good. This hotel is very cost-effective. If I come to Gothenburg next time, I will definitely book this hotel again.

The lighting in the single room was a little dim, but it was not a big deal and I could accept it. In addition, I think the only fault I could find was that the sound insulation was not good. My room was facing the street and there were often garbage trucks or trucks making loud noises at five in the morning.

Coming back to our room each day felt like coming home. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, a superior double, was very spacious with a comfortable lounge, armchair and desk. The whole hotel was stylishly decorated. Thought had gone into the bathroom design making it very functional. It had a walk in shower, double basins, plenty of storage space for shower bags and towels, good ventilation via a window and it even had a hook that could be used to hang the hairdryer. We loved the coffee, tea and cake that was provided each afternoon and enjoyed using the lovely sitting areas in which to have it. There was plenty of choice at breakfast which was provided in a tastefully styled dining room.

This was a very comfortable historic hotel in central Gothenburg. The rooms were very quaint and cozy with comfortable beds. We loved the fika they served both days we were there- complementary delicious homemade pastries and coffee! This hotel is within walking distance of the train station and also to many sites within the city. I would definitely stay here again.

The only negative part of the experience was we had bought pastries the day prior and had left them in a box on the table in the room. Housekeeping came by the next day and when we returned that night, they had thrown the box of pastries away! Of note we did not need or want housekeeping, but there was no sign for the door to indicate that. Additionally, the walls between rooms are on the thinner side which had bothered the other guest as she could hear the room next door talking late into the night.

The location of the hotel is perfect and within walking distance of so much. The staff were always super helpful and willing to have a chat with me and offer suggestions of places worth visiting. My room was so lovely and clean with a super comfy bed so I slept really well and also loved how quiet it was. One of my favourite parts of my stay was being able to sit in the hotel's lovely lounge with a cup of tea and some cake in the afternoon and evening after exploring the city during the day. Of course I should also mention how delicious the breakfast was- I will be thinking about those waffles for a long time!

A traditional hotel, with wonderful and friendly staff who couldn't be more helpful. Well located in the city centre. Beautiful old building in a traditional style; the staircase and tiled floors and lift were lovely and also the public sitting areas. Fabulous breakfast (particularly the bread), and complementary cake and other goodies with tea and coffee laid out for guests each afternoon. The almond cake was delicious! Comfy beds, very clean.

Bedroom lighting was a bit too dark, the curtains didn't quite pull together properly, and the bathroom itself small with a wet room shower. We had our room (405) made into a twin and I think perhaps the layout of some of the other bedrooms in the hotel might have been better suited to this; it wasn't as comfortable a twin arrangement as it could have been. No room safe. Tiny square pillows. A little challenging to find breakfast seating at the weekend.

I really liked everything. Great location, close to Central Station and main attractions, very clean and peaceful place to stay. The lobbies for unwind and chill are wonderful. Not to mention the inner little garden to enjoy their fika. There wasn't any noise at all, one can sleep very well. And above all, I mostly appreciated the super welcoming staff at the front desk. All of them were amazing and so pro-active to satisfy your needs, and especially one, the white-bearded guy, sorry I didn't get his name. I will definitely come back and highly recommend Hotel Royal to everyone!

The internet could work better.

An excellent hotel located in the city center, just a few minutes from the main train station and city attractions. The room was equipped with a comfortable bed and other essentials. It was clean and quiet. Communication with the staff was excellent. They helped with navigating the city and offered other advice. The breakfast was plentiful, continental-style, with something for every dietary preference. After 2 p.m., you can enjoy 'fika'—coffee and cake in the lounge area or the courtyard. I highly recommend it!

I just stayed one night at this beautiful historical hotel just 3 mins walk from train station and very easy to walk around the city center attractions as well. Love the atmosphere and rooms best value for the price 🥂 since my train is too early they prepared a breakfast to go, like the service personel very kind and helpful. they have home made cakes during the day which makes you feel at home 😊

Only distraction was room air conditioner or heater voice all night. ı could not stop it from the control point. Had to sleep w ear plugs.

What a charming hotel, there should be more of it! The staff were exceptional- warmly welcoming, helpful, cheerful and all individuals with their own personal charm. Makes such a difference upon arrival. The building itself is well cared for with upgrades that don't interfere with its age or character. The use of local art throughout gives a community and Scandinavian modern feel. Breakfast is generous and they prepared various containers for me to help myself to a takeaway breakfast for early departure. The fresh cake each day at the tea station is an added bonus….these guys know their business and seem to genuinely enjoy sharing the history and family culture with their guests. Highly recommended! Ate next door at Noots, nordic kitchen. Delicious and again, excellent friendly service.

I struggled to think of anything…the warmth of staff overcomes any niggles if you had them. I guess the only thing I can think for improvement would be the pillow quality, but really I'm just nitpicking. I slept very well there.
