The hotel is 50m away from a bus stop that connects it directly to central Lugano. It provides a free Ticino ticket, so public transport is free for you. Very easy to get to the centre and back. In summer, there is a pool available. Access to the pool is a bit tricky if you have plastic flipflops - you do need to go downhill. If you have limited mobility, you may have trouble getting there, I don't think a wheelchair would pass either. For anyone else - it's very lovely for a reasonable price for the area! Some rooms don't have much of a view, but rooms facing the lake have balconies and the view from the terrace is lovely in the mornings. The breakfast is nice, I'd switch up the breads and baked options more, or it would be nice to have them pre-sliced. The coffee could have been better, I think that's my only complaint :) Staff were great and very helpful. If you need to do your laundry, there's an option slightly off-site but with low capacity.

Just the coffee :) The beds are also too soft for me, but that's personal preference I think.

Quality hotel with good and friendly staff, all the necessary services available and a beautiful view of the town and the lake. The rooms were spacious and clean. Slightly harder beds but overall satisfaction with the services. City transport and access included in the price of accommodation a great advantage.

Breathtaking lake view, discounts on the funicular with the guest card, and free bus rides — the stop is right next to the hotel. There is on-site parking; spaces are limited, but there’s also street parking available. There’s a swimming pool — it’s a bit inconvenient that you have to cross the road to get to it, but otherwise everything was great! Delicious breakfasts, and a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lake. The room had air conditioning and a fridge, which was very convenient.

The hotel is a bit dated, but that didn’t bother us. The bathroom was quite small. The room was clean, but there was some trash left in the bin from previous guests

Very lovely and quiet hotel on the hill over Lugano with some historic mountain village parts around. Hotel has a swimming pool, breakfast was very tasty. The room was spacious and clean. Parking on site was included. To go into the historic centre of Lugano, one would need to take the bus or drive. For me it was perfect, and my two dogs enjoyed it too.

It's great for people who are looking for a quiet space. Probably less ideal for people who want to visit the historic centre of Lugano, museums etc.

This place feels like paradise on earth. The view from the rooms, from breakfast and the pool on all over Lugano and the Lugano Lake are are just breathtaking. It'a a 3 star hotel, but i would say it's a clear 4 star hotel (maybe in Switzerland there are higher standards). It has a very good price/value (in the same time in France and Italy we had much worse but more expensive hotels). Location is perfect, busstop is right nextdoor, bus passes every 30 minutes to Lugano City and to Monte Bre, and this until midnight. no car needed at all, if you come by car, there are many parkings available. And with the Ticino-card all public transportation in Ticino is free You can make nice trekking tours directly from hotel, but also cablecar (to Monte Bre) is 5 minutes by foot. Wifi works very good, moreover, in the hotel you capture italian providers, so no need to pay for roaming.if you dont have swiss sim-card Staff is very friendly, helpful, competent ,very familiy-like treatment. Rooms are big and comfortable, they even gave us a hot water boiler. Breakfast is great, varied and comes with high quality products The pool is probably the most beautiful swimming pool in the world..we loved our stay and will definitely come back

Colibri is a cute hotel! I had a very pleasant stay. The room had beautiful vintage decor. It was big, clean, and comfortable. I had a stunning view from the balcony! Breakfast was delicious with an amazing view of Lugano Lake. The staff were very friendly, polite, and helpful. They helped me a lot with information about transportation and how to get to my next destination. It was a 30 min bus ride from the train station to the hotel. I did not have any trouble following google map instructions. It was very straightforward. I catched the bus in front of the train station, got out after few stops to transfer to the second and final bus. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Colibri.

The views from the rooms and restaurant are spectacular, overlooking the lake. The windows are huge to maximise the impact. The hotel, though a bit faded and old in places, has a lot of charm and personality -high ceilings, old school hairdryers and telephones- and the staff, especially at the reception, were really helpful and welcoming. I left a bag and it was shipped to me very quickly. Good variety at breakfast but no hot food offered. (Was not a problem just a fyi). A short walk down from hotel and you can get on the funicular up to Monte Bre too. 7 mins or so on No.12 bus from hotel and then you are down by the lake, where there are many other bus lines into center, which is then very close.

As it is further out on a steep hill, it is a bit annoying that no direct bus from the train station -have to change once -BUT that was only issue.

We had a triple room with a great view on the lake. It's a classic, old-fashioned, stylish hotel. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was decent. A small but nice pool.

The parking is limited and not easy, really a small parking area between the road the the mountain slope and if others don't park well, it's hard to move in or out of your spot. The restaurant had a great view of the city and lake but I found it a bit expensive and the menu has a limited variety.

The room was big, very clean with all the comforts and an amazing view of the lake! We were a couple and instead of a kind size bed we had two single beds, but they were really comfortable. There was a third bed at the room, a small sofa with a table and much space to make yoga together. We had the choice of using the swimming pool but the weather was a bit cold.. Whatever was old style, everything were so nice! I totally recommended it

The only 'bad' was the restaurant of the hotel at night. We order a sessional salad, two soups and two main dishes, risotto and tortellini. The salad was way too simple, just raw, ready salad from coop, the soups were served in cappuccino mags, so not really much quantity and the main dishes.... The tortellini were also fresh from coop, boiled with some butter, and a little bit cold..and the risotto was a bit tasteless with wrong choice of the rise! But the breakfast was very nice with many options.

Clearly, this hotel might have been quite something back in the day. Now it is obvious that it has aged, though gracefully. Our room had a spectacular view of Lugano lake and city, with chairs and an umbrella on the balcony. The room had all usuals (e.g. fridge, safe, dressing gowns) and was comfy. The bathroom was reasonably spacious. We opted for dinner at the hotel restaurant, and because we had made a reservation, we got great seats on the restaurant balony. Breakfast had much choice and was more than ample. The pool across the road was fab, and your deckchairs could be organised to look over the lake.

There was really no-one around behind the desk till breakfast was served, which was at 0800 hrs. Ideally, we needed to get away earlier than this, so breakfast could be perhaps at an earlier time say 0700 or 0730 (the many other guests that came in right at opening time confirms this recommendation). Also it is advised that one should discuss their parking arrangements with the hotel prior to arrival.
