I had the end room with the double bed (orange door). I loved the view, the old building, the off-season quiet, the food, the attention & responsiveness from the staff, the austere room, the picturesque village, the self-service breakfast, and many other things.

Some furnishings are a little makeshift, but fit the old building and they function. It took a while until the hot water would arrive at the tap. I would like to propose to the maintenance crew to grease every door handle, hinge and lock in the building, as well as unclog the shower drains more regularly. Because I was the only guest 3 out of 4 nights, I did not suffer from the poor noise protection.

We loved the little balcony overlooking the lake. The room was basic, certainly not luxurious, but absolutely fine for what we wanted and adequately comfortable. There was a shower and washbasin in the room, it was only the toilet that needed to be shared with other guests and that was not a problem as only one other family was staying there at the time. Breakfast was by way of bread, butter, jams and yogurts provided in a self-service kitchen, as well as coffee pods and teabags. Whilst the facilities in the bedroom area are more hostel like (which we were very happy with), the restaurant above is SUPERB. Initially we thought we wouldn't use it because it is expensive, but it was worth every centime for the fabulous and interesting five courses that are served, overlooking the lake. The owners are lovely, friendly and happy to help. The hotel/restaurant is easy to reach by bus from Lugano, the stop is right outside the entrance and the owners provide helpful instructions on how to find and identify the bus in Lugano. Once you step down from the hotel the steps and paths lead you straight into the village and on down to the lake.

A small grumble only. Switzerland can always be a little difficult when it comes to using powerpoints, some sockets are two pin round and take a standard adapter, others are hexagon shaped and often need two adapters - one to convert to round, then the standard adapater. All the sockets in the bedroom and corridor are hexagon shaped and most had been positioned facing downwards, meaning that the adaptors simply fell out with the weight. I ended up having to use the socket in the corridor where I could at least prop a book up against the adaptors to stop them falling out!

We had a wonderful stay at Ristorante le Bucce di Gandria. The room was cozy, clean, and full of character, exactly what you'd hope for in a small, lakeside hotel. What really made it special, though, was the view. Waking up to look out over Lake Lugano, with the mountains framing the water and the quiet little village of Gandria below, was something we won’t forget. The location is perfect if you're looking for a peaceful retreat that's still close to everything. It's just a short drive or boat ride to Lugano, and you're right near the Italian border too, which made day trips really easy. Gandria itself is tiny, charming, and full of atmosphere. Wandering its narrow lanes felt like stepping back in time. We also loved the slower pace and quiet evenings here. It was the kind of place where you can actually hear the lake. Highly recommend if you're after a mix of comfort, scenery, and a real sense of place.

Staff couldn't have been more helpful, showed me to my room and explained how everything worked. the kindly looked after my ruck sac for the day while I walked. View from my room was stunning and I had a small private balcony overlooking Lake and mountains. Bed was really comfortable.

It was a shame that I wasn't there on a day that the Restaurant was open as I would have loved to try their well renowned food. I stayed on a Wednesday and it's not open until Thursday.

The view of the lake and the mountains were stunning. The village and lake is gorgeous. (It has a lot of stone steps though, so it does require basic fitness and working knees to see the village, and make sure you get off at the right bus stop as those stairs with luggage is not fun.) The room and facilities were clean and we had everything we needed. There was no toilet in the room but this was not an issue for us. It was reflected in the price. Breakfast was provided and there was space in the fridge for us to keep our own food. Check in/check out was easy and the staff were friendly. There were some lovely restaurants close by and access to swim in the lake, too. I would happily recommend this listing.

Fantastic view from the balcony. Location in a cute,charming village. Connected with the boat and 1 hour scenic walking route to Lugano. Restaurant just above. There are books games and a small breakfast available.

Restaurant above is a source of noise and cooking smells when you are trying to chill on the balcony. Noise isolation inside the facilities not that great.

Amazing view of the lake. Tidy room with a very comfortable double bed. The room had a shower and sink in it and the toilet was a shared one down the hall. There are not many rooms so sharing a toilet was not an issue. Common room with small fridge you can use & yoghurts, milk, hot drinks are provided. The lakefront is just a few minutes walk (down a lot of steps) and there’s a small area with a jetty where you can swim. There is a great walking path from there towards Lugano along the coast. Bus stops right next to the property.

The bus to Gandria is quite infrequent so you need to plan ahead to make sure you get it when you need to.

The room was good enough, if you know what you are booking you will be fine. You have a shower in the room and a shared toilet. The owners are good people and we thank them for our stay there. The shared kitchen was something we did not expect and was a nice surprise. Views are PERFECT. I mean breathtaking.

A bit out of the main city of lugano, but you can get there via a bus.

We had a reservation for a room at Le Bucce di Gandria but due to a technical error with the booking system there was an overbooking and the staff of this place kindly solved it by arranging another room (with amazing lake view!) for us at Antico Ristorante, right next to the river. So my rating is about the room in Antico: Peaceful room, Beautiful view, Friendly staff.

The place is one of best value stay we had with a great location, beautiful view and very clean. As it states on their site, there is no staff available for services but check-in is efficient, and a plenty of snacks in the small common area. We stayed only one night as a transit from Switzerland to Italy.
