I went here 2 years ago, still the best. This is my standard for hostel - simple and accessible. Listen to Fai — she gives the best recommendations. When she tells you “go now” trust me, our Sky Lantern trip to CAD was smooth because we went early. They also have the best sunset views (go to 4th floor) at 5:25pm the plane leaves, it’s so nice.

The socket in my bed is too loose but they fix things right away, just inform them, they will do it for you.

The front desk was so nice and helpful. Clean and safe location.

The beds are very,very firm and I like a firm mattress.

Nothing, all good, can’t complain.

The hostel was clean. Was sleeping cubicles were comfortable with privacy curtains. The AC was great and guest could control the temperature. On first entering the room there was a stale smell. Well, this was a female room. I attributed it to a dirty AC filter. After several days, I got used to the smell. That’s more comfortable, and the staff were great. There is a small kitchen with a fridge for storing food. Not a party hostel. Friendly.

The doors to the dorm were loud when they closed. And while there is a sign by the sink for people to be quiet, not everyone adhered to this request. So the voices carried into the rooms early morning/late night.

It was very clean and quiet. Not really a social hostel, but rooms were clean, spacious, and had lockers. The woman who runs the desk was fantastic- so nice and very helpful! Also has a laundry service if you need to wash. Overall clean and safe hostel.

The bed was very hard. Also- the location isn’t that far walking distance from the old city, as it’s located just across the road from the old city. However, you have to cross an extremely busy road on 2 sides to get into the old city (multiple lanes and heavy traffic) everyday. There are lights to cross at but the road is so busy you have to walk to the crosswalks with cross signals to be able to cross safely, which were kind of out of the way to be able to do on both sides of the road. Not a huge deal but just be aware even though it’s across the road on the map, the road is VERY heavily traveled.

The lady at the reception was extremely nice and helpful. Location was ok - not great, but ok.

They don't let people use shoes inside the hostel facilities. I know it's common practice in Thailand and I respect it. However I think it should be indicated very clearly in the description on Booking, as everyone has their own hygiene standards. I personally feel the need to use my flip flops when sharing spaces - particularly shower and bathroom - with many, many people. Since I'm paying for an accomodation, I would like to know what the requirements are, so that I can choose accordingly.

The host was super nice and kind. Think I just love Thai people overall! The location is around old city which was easy to get to all the local temples if you were into history.

The bed was a bit hard. And the first day I arrived, the hot water didn't work on my floor, so I had to go to other floors' shower. I think it may be the reason of rainy season, since overall the water is just warm and sometimes cold. But I believe they are trying to fix it! It would also be good if there could be a small table in the room and more hangers.

fai has become such a close friend and family in thailand. staying with her 3 years ago was definitely the best choice i made! she is so nice, so attentive, so helpful, so funny and so beautiful. if there is only one reason to go back to chiangmai then it'd be staying with About A Bed! she has such good aesthetics and the hostel is just too pretty. its clean as usual and the bed is so comfortable!! ill come back soon fai ^-^

that i dont get to stay longer

I had a very pleasant stay at About A bed and extended my stay! The hostel has been around about 6 years but the facilities look as if they're brand new, the owner, Fai is very friendly and approachable, she greets you with a big smile on her face :) I liked how the dorm rooms are laid out with curtain and a bar to hang your stuff. It's very spacious so that you feel plenty of space and privacy even in a 8 bed dorm. There are plenty of bathrooms as well as showers in each floor, so you don't have to queue. There's a spacious common area on the ground floor where you can sit and chat, it's probably due to the layout of the common area, it was easy to get to know others who were staying at the hostel.

I really liked everything about this hostel, it was kept super clean and staff are friendly, maybe more sockets in the common area would be nice.

Location: near the airport (15mins by car), theheart of old town (by 10 to 15 mins by foot). Jazz bar and a cocktail bar is also near (7 min walk), Facilities: free water, coffee and tea! Bed is comfy and the storage is spacious and is inside your bed space. Toilet and bath are clean. It's a well-maintained hostel. Staff: Fai is really amazing, welcoming and interacting with her guest Self check-in and out is also efficient.
