The location and the overall feel and features of the property were amazing. We loved the typical Thai style of the buildings and it created a real feeling of being in Thailand. We stayed in a pool villa room - room 305 - which was fantastic! The room itself was huge, ultra silent for amazing nights sleep and amazing view over your own private pool to the sea! We lay and watched a fabulous lightning / thunder storm one evening from our bed! Room 305 has the best clear view I think as not obscured by tree foliage.The outdoor shower may not be everyone’s cup of tea but we loved it as it kept moisture out of the room and therefore no smell of damp which we have experienced at other 5* hotels in Thailand. This being a small intimate hotel also adds value as the staff are impeccable. They really get to know you on a personal basis. A shout out for Boa, Gail and Lim who really made our stay first class. A thank you must be extended to Steven the manager who also took the time to introduce the room and property to us on our stay. We had a wonderful relaxing time at this hotel. The team went over and above to arrange a table on the beach for us for our 28 year anniversary - much much thanks you you all for this :-)

Just a few niggles which could easily be improved. 1. The sun beds although authentic really need replaced as they are shabby and in some places dangerous with nails and broken pieces 2. The breakfast is pre ordered every night which is a nice offering but we felt perhaps could be improved and simplified by offering a small buffet area with fruits, juices and pastries and only offering pre orders for cooked items. This would also free up staff time and arguably make the guest experience smoother. BUT all in all these are suggestions rather than complaints or not liking the offerings.

The villas are absolutely gorgeous and the scenery is breathtaking. All the staff are friendly, humble, professional and extremely accommodating, from the reception & restaurant staff, through to the gardener who proudly showed us his herb/vegetable garden. If you are looking for a 5 star resort without the 5 star price tag and pretentious staff, then this is the place for you! The resort offers a car service which is EXCELLENT along with the best tasting food in all the restaurants we dined at on the Island. We fell in love with Koh Samui and it’s people, so we will be back and will stay at Ammatara when we return.

The Wellness Spa was not operating during our time there.

Wonderful, charming, and authentically Thai – a hidden gem! An amazing discovery – absolutely 10 out of 10! The atmosphere is enchanting and truly reflects the Thai spirit. The food is excellent and priced like the locals enjoy it. The staff are incredibly friendly, always smiling and helpful. The location is peaceful, with a beautiful beach and crystal-clear sea – perfect for relaxing. It’s an ideal place for families – we felt completely at home with our kids. It will definitely be a must-visit for all our future trips to Samui!

Anything negative? Honestly, if you find something, let me know – I haven’t seen a single flaw so far!

We loved every aspect of our stay but the marvellous staff were the best part. They could not do enough for us and we were met with huge smiles every single morning. My surprise birthday cake at breakfast on our first morning was proof of how far this hotel goes to make your stay so very memorable, especially when we hadn’t mentioned it when we booked. On returning to our room we were met with a beautifully decorated bed. Our private pool was just perfect. The view from the bed at night will stay with me forever. The rooms are huge and maybe showing their age in some areas but this did not detract from our comfort in any way. Everything was spotlessly clean. The washing machine was a massive plus and one of the reasons why we chose to stay here. We would not hesitate to return.

The only downside was that the hotel is at the very bottom of the Main Street where all the restaurants, bars and shops are. Probably a leisurely, steady 30 minute stroll to the night market. Another good five minutes on top to the Lotus supermarket. A good excuse to stop off at a bar in order to rehydrate. Anyone who is less mobile may find the short but steep access road to the hotel a bit of a challenge, especially when the temperature was still around 33 degrees in the early evening.

The villa, pool and grounds were beautiful. The staff were so friendly and we loved the breakfast.

Unfortunately there was a lot of rubbish on thr beach and floating in the water after the rainy season and the resort uses bottled water. Would be good to have water filters, less bottles and no plastic straws.

We stayed in a sea view pool villa and the property had the wow factor and was massive. The pool and deck area were large and it was spotlessly cleaned every day. The staff were very accommodating and we had breakfast delivered to the room twice to accommodate trips and there is a small charge of 200Tb but they delivered before the restaurant opened so this was very convenient. An English chap (sorry forgot his name) checked us in and was so welcoming and friendly it really felt like a home from home. Definitely recommend

Could have done with a couple of sun loungers on the upper deck but that is being picky. The AC was either cold or off and most of the power outlets were taped over. Very small details but need sorting to make it perfect.

The staff were so accommodating and helpful. They ensured we were looked after during our stay and made us feel welcome. The rooms were cleaned regularly and water replaced in the fridge and by sink everyday. The breakfast is really delicious and staff during breakfast were really good! We actually looked forward to going to breakfast everyday and didn’t miss a day :) the villas are on the beach which was really clean and quiet. Definitely would recommend staying here, you have a night scene and it’s a lot more quiet :)

The resort makes you feel like your in a palace ! Very well done with authentic Thai furnishing that kept us staring at different features around the property. Villa was very large, continuing high standards with great size pool. Most importantly the staff were exceptional, from check in to breakfast each morning you are greeted with not just stale hotel hospitality but people you will be happy to wrap your arms around as family. Such warm, happy and welcoming hospitality. We didn’t want to leave !!

This was honestly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel itself was majestic, with a traditional Thai look which was exceptionally well maintained and very clean. It honestly felt like staying in a palace. It is located in Lamai which means you are guaranteed peace and quiet if that's what you are after. The staff were exceptional and went above and beyond. They were attentive and always on standby to help at all times. You can feel the warmth in all the interactions with them. The breakfast was really good with a plethora of choices to choose from. I cannot fault this hotel at all and would recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat.

Overall a great stay. The villas were spacious and comfortable and the staff, especially in the restaurant, were amazing. The location, right on the beach, with good access to restaurants and bars within a short walk was perfect. The villas were very large, had a sense of privacy and were well maintained.

As a family of 5, 3 of us stayed in a 2 bed villa, whilst 2 of my kids had a 1 bed villa. The kids staying in the 1 bed did not like the semi open shower and preferred to use the shower in the 2 bed villa at night to avoid the bugs.
