In Cappadocia, Goreme is te place to be. Especially uphill with striking views on Goreme and te valley itself. This is where the balloons fly and uphill they get close to to rooftops -of course depending on wind direction. Salkim's high rooftop is part of a little cluster of neighbouring rooftops facing the balloons and the valley. Especially from Salkim rooftop you can also watch what's happening on the other rooftops: Mostly Asian and Indian people dress up and install their video equipment onto the rooftops, to do extensive (wedding)photo sessions against the balloon/valley decor. Even little dancing/TikTok-like shots are taken. This was just as much entertaining as the balloons itself! Be sure to be early and on time for the balloons.. We saw many heavily dressed up people arriving only ten minutes too late, wondering where all the balloons were gone. My kids and wife loved the family room. The weather was quite cold during our stay, but the spacious room had floor heating, so comfortebly nice and warm. The shower was nice and hot and the bed's firm, but no too firm. I liked the breakfast as well: an appropriate mixture of Turkish and French style served breakfast. Certainly worth noting the hotel manager, Yunus, a friendly and helpful man. Given the fact the wardrobe closet has no drawers or shelves the luggage performs function of wardrobe and therefore luggage rack(s) is (are) needed. To avoid placing luggage on the floor and bending when using we used nightstands so, rucks would be helpful. Also, Cappadocia is all about hiking and because it can be very hot in the summer morning starting is important to escape the heat. Unfortunately, the breakfast starts only at 9:30am, the latest I've seen during our 15 months travel. So, it would be great if the manager would propose some solution for those who wants to start hiking early morning.

We highly recommend Salkım Cave House for your stay in Cappadocia! The rooms are spotless, the breakfast is delicious, and the terrace is absolutely breathtaking—especially at sunrise when the sky fills with hot air balloons. But what truly made our stay unforgettable were the wonderful people who work there. We’ll always be grateful to Yunus and Zeynep, whose warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home. A beautiful motel located on the hill of Goreme with views over the township from the rooftop terrace. The staff were very friendly and gave helpful advice on hiking and activities to do around the area, they made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The room was spacious with comfortable bedding, hot shower, large bathroom and kettle. The complimentary breakfast was amazing with fresh cheese, olives, fresh bread and different daily specials (omelette, gozleme or menemen). There were many restaurants and souvenir shops on the main road which was only a 10 minute walk. Access to many of the hikes were closeby too. They helped with arranging an airport pick up for a good price. Daily room service was also provided. As we had terrible weather while we were in Goreme, we were so grateful that we had such a lovely space to relax in at Salkim Cave House.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Salkim Cave Hotel, and it truly exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The hotel itself is a beautiful blend of history and comfort, with its cozy cave rooms offering a unique and unforgettable experience. What really made our stay special, however, was Yunis, the receptionist. He was incredibly accommodating and friendly, always going the extra mile to make sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of. Yunis even took the time to hang out with us during our stay, offering great local recommendations and sharing his knowledge of the area, which made our trip even more memorable. I booked a hot air balloon and yunis had better prices, therefore contact him beforehand! With Yunis as our host, i know i am in good hands as he steered me away from scammers! And let’s not forget Bulut, the adorable dog who added an extra layer of charm to our visit. Bulut was a sweet and friendly companion, always ready for a cuddle or a playful interaction, which made the hotel feel even more like a home away from home. Overall, my stay at Salkim Cave Hotel was amazing, and I can’t recommend it enough. The combination of great hospitality, the unique cave experience, and the lovely company of Yunis and Bulut made it a truly unforgettable getaway. I’ll definitely be back!

Yunus and his beautiful dog where the highlight of this trip! I would definitely recommend this as one of the best, if not the best, cave hotel experience in the area! All thanks to Yunus...for his kindness, care, hospitality and fantastic chats! He treats the hotel and guests with outmost care, professionalism, diligence and honesty. I think this was by far our best experience in turkey and we have been travelling to many different places since!

The location of the property was wonderful. The rooftop was perfect to watch the balloons in the morning. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was delectable. But, the most wonderful was the host of the property. Younus was a wonderful person and helped us in every possible way to experience the best of Cappadocia. Even though we were travelling with 2 small and loud kids, the host was kind enough to help us with everything. We had a great time in Cappadocia because of him.

We liked everything.

Everything about the property was lovely! Zeynep and Yunus were incredibly kind and accommodating - every day they went out of their way to make our group of seven friends feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, the breakfast was delicious, and the views of the hot air balloons rising in the morning were breathtaking. It truly felt like a home away from home.

There was honestly nothing major to complain about. Everything was well taken care of and thoughtfully arranged.

Yunus the host was brilliant. He provided a warm welcome, and nothing was too much trouble from organising tours, to setting a fire in our room so we could enjoy a quiet drink in our room on a cool evening, to serving coffee at 6am so we could have a warming drink as we watched the balloons fly overhead. Breakfast was a plentiful feast served by Yunus with a ready smile. Hotel had a great view of the early morning balloon flights and the valley below.

Nothing to complain about other than we should have stayed longer as, due to one poor day's poor weather, we missed out on the Pigeon and Love valley walks.

Location was great, the view from the roof terrace to watch the balloons was excellent. The property had character and was in a quiet area. The hotel manager Yunus was one of the nicest and helpful individuals we’ve ever met on our travels. There was free water available throughout our stay and the breakfast was very good.

There was no bar which would have been a nice addition especially with such a fantastic roof terrace. Only a small thing but the shower door in our bathroom didn’t close so the bathroom floor got very wet and slippery.
