We were warmly welcomed. The hosts showed us a map and the location of the main attractions in the area, and they also recommended a guided tour on the Bosphorus (which we took on the last day before leaving, and it was definitely worth it). The hosts were very kind and helpful — they even gave us a business card with the hotel’s phone number, in case we needed directions or any kind of assistance during our stay. Everything was clean, the cleaning ladies came daily, provided fresh towels, and made the bed. Breakfast was satisfactory. We really appreciated that they had a water dispenser, teas, and coffee available with unlimited access. The hotel had air conditioning, which we truly appreciated considering the hot days, and it was close to attractions, public transport stations, and the sea. We were pleasantly surprised to find even a disposable toothbrush and toothpaste in the room (even though we didn't need them), as we haven’t seen this offered at any other hotel so far. I liked that they had little benches and a table outside — it was a nice spot to relax. One evening, a screw came loose from the shower door and we couldn’t close it properly anymore. The hosts fixed the issue the next day without any hassle. We communicated well with them, and they were genuinely open and eager to make sure we had a comfortable stay during our vacation.

The rooms aren’t very well soundproofed. The floor creaks, and we could hear every step from the room above us — sometimes even the chandelier would shake. This was a bit annoying, especially when we were trying to rest or go to sleep earlier in the evening. In the same category, there's also the prayer from the nearby mosque, which can be heard quite clearly — especially the one around 4:45 in the morning. It doesn’t last long (maybe 5 to 15 minutes), but it can be a bit disturbing, especially for light sleepers. Breakfast could be a bit more varied. There are a lot of local-style salads, many of them with a lot of dill and mayo — which might not be for everyone. A bit more variety would definitely help, especially for those who prefer something lighter or without mayonnaise and dill.

I recently stayed at this hotel in Istanbul located near all the major historical monuments, and I can only highly recommend it! The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helped us explore the surroundings. They even recommended a boat trip to discover the city, and I suggest choosing the sunset time for an unforgettable experience. The room was perfect, cleaned daily with care. There was also a laundry service that we unfortunately discovered only on our last night. The breakfast was exceptional, with a wide variety of high-quality products. Contrary to what one might hear, the people in Istanbul are very friendly. The food was also excellent. In summary, a perfect stay in an ideally located hotel to discover the wonders of Istanbul!

Great location, tucked away on a quiet backstreet and a 10min walk to Ayia Sofia. The room was a very good size, bed was very comfortable, and shower was very strong, floorboards did creak but it didn't take away from our stay. The guys at reception were EXCEPTIONAL!! Breakfast cooked fresh every morning by their grandmother and she was very sweet and caring. The variety of food was on point. They even brought a birthday cake to my room as a surprise which was such a great touch and the cake was DELICIOUS. I would 100% only stay at this place again should I be visiting Istanbul in the future.

15 minutes walk from blue mosque etc. real 15 minutes for two older people. Right by the little agia sofia so if you don’t like the call to prayer don’t go . Ibrahim and Kemal looked after us very well and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s in a small side street with lots of restaurants around it. We loved the balcony area being smokers and enjoying the views. There is only one balcony room and well worth the extra cost.

The only downside for us was that the room is on the 4th floor and there is no lift but it’s actually the 3rd floor and after a few days you get more used to the stairs.

Great experience, very friendly staff Ibrahim, Kamal, zeynap, and maya all very helpful l. The neighborhood is good, close to everything, and good recommendations near the hotel. If you're interested in exploring the real istanbul and leave a real experience, don't hesitate to choose Mataraci Konak. They help with airport transfers , istanbul card, and sim card. We recently stayed in this hotel. It’s a small but very cozy that immediately captivates with its hospitality. Our room was spacious and comfortable One of the main advantages of this hotel is its perfect location. It is situated right in the city center, making it easy to reach all the major attractions (Hagia Sophia Cathedral, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar and etc) This is very convenient when you want to enjoy all the delights of Istanbul without spending too much time on the road. I would like to express special gratitude to the hotel staff! On my boyfriend's birthday, they pleasantly surprised us by celebrating and presenting a small cake. It was unexpected and incredibly nice! The staff helped us arrange an airport transfer, which turned out to be cheaper and safer than using other services. Overall, we were completely delighted with our stay at this hotel and would gladly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Istanbul!

Our stay at Mataraci Konak exceeded all expectations in every possible way. The price was extremely reasonable for its offering, the location is outstanding—less than a 10-minute walk to Istanbul’s top attractions like the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Yet, despite being so central, the hotel is located away on a peaceful side street, right across from a small restaurant, ensuring a quiet and restful atmosphere. What impressed me the most was the impeccable cleanliness. Every detail, from the bathroom to the bedroom, was spotless. In fact, prior to staying here, we had spent a few nights at the 5-star Legacy Ottoman Hotel located just 1 km away in the city center, but Mataraci Konak easily surpassed it in terms of cleanliness, amenities, and overall comfort. The building has been recently renovated, so everything is new and exactly as shown in the pictures. The air conditioning worked perfectly, even during a particularly hot day when temperatures were over 30°C. We felt perfectly comfortable inside. Breakfast was also a highlight, especially the variety of sweets, the quality coffee, and fresh juices. The minibar prices were surprisingly reasonable—my only suggestion would be to include a wider selection of products, considering the fair pricing. A special thanks to Ibrahim and rest of the staff for allowing us to check in nearly two hours early and for providing us with an immaculate room upon arrival. I’d also like to express my gratitude to Ibrahim, who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. He provided helpful local tips, stored our luggage many hours after checkout, gave us access to restroom facilities upon our return to collect the luggage, and even helped arrange a taxi that costed 30% less than what we were initially quoted by another driver. He and his colleague also kindly assisted us with our heavy luggage. All in all, a perfect stay—and one I would highly recommend to everyone visiting Istanbul <3

Our stay was absolutely perfect—there’s truly nothing I could say negative. My only two regrets are that I didn’t choose Mataraci Konak from the very beginning, and that I couldn’t stay longer. Without a doubt, this will be my first choice when I return to Istanbul, and I’ll be recommending it to all my friends. :)

First of all, I would like to say thank you to the staff and my special thanks to Murat. He was incredibly helpful, even when he had days off he did arrange everything we asked for. As for the hotel itself, it's small, but clean and cosy. It's close to all famous historical sightseeings which is a good advantage. The location is good and the place seems safe. The rooms are cleaned every day. The breakfast is good and delicious. You can also drink tea, coffee and water as much as you want at any time. When we were leaving, they gave us a small box of Rahat lokum and offered some drinks to choose to take with us. Thank you, guys! May Allah bless you and your families!

I recently stayed at Mataracı Konak Hotel for two nights with my partner, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is perfectly located in the Sultanahmet area, just a short walk from major attractions like Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. Pros: ✔️ Location: Couldn’t be better! Being in the heart of Istanbul made exploring incredibly convenient. Most attractions were within a 5-10 minute walk. ✔️ Friendly Staff: The reception team was warm and welcoming, always ready to assist with directions or recommendations. ✔️ Comfortable Stay: The room was clean, well-maintained, and had all the essential amenities. The bed was comfortable, and we had no issues with noise. ✔️ Delicious Breakfast: The breakfast spread was well-balanced, fresh, and tasted great—a perfect start to our mornings. ✔️ Good Value for Money: Given the location, comfort, and service, it’s a fantastic budget-friendly yet romantic choice.

We stayed at Matarachi for 6 nights in the superior double room and we loved our time in there. The room is very spacious and clean for two people to stay comfortably and the washroom is a decent size as well. We had room service every day which was really good as we loved coming back to a fresh clean room after a long day out. The breakfast was also very good with a good range of options that was freshly prepared every day. Considering the price we payed for the whole stay the breakfast provided was really good. We were greeted by Ibrahim when we arrived and he was very friendly and made us feel welcomed and gave us helpful tips for our tour. Yaqub was also very friendly and whenever we came down for breakfast he ensured we had everything we needed. They ran out of omelette for breakfast on two occasions and on both occasions Yaqub informed us about it and ensured we were served freshly prepared omelette. It was very nice that he constantly kept checking that the guests had everything they needed. What really surprised me is how the hotel kept note of my birthday and then Ibrahim surprised me with a cake. It was such a sweet surprise and this goes to show how much the hotel and staff cares about their guests and their comfort. We would definitely stay again at the hotel.

The only thing I would recommend is changing the wooden floor in the room we stayed as it creaks quite easily when walking in the room.
