My stay at The Mest Hotel Istanbul was absolutely delightful. I opted for the deluxe room with a sea view, and it offered what I’d say is one of the best views a hotel can provide. The balcony overlooks the mosque in all its grandeur—a truly mesmerizing sight that I could admire for hours. The room was impeccable, with a fresh, clean scent that made it feel instantly welcoming. Every detail was taken care of, and it was spotlessly maintained. The staff were incredible—warm, accommodating, and always ready to go above and beyond to assist with anything I needed, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The location is another big advantage. Nestled in Sultanahmet, it’s within walking distance of all the key tourist spots and right beside the Spice Bazaar. The area is surrounded by a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and local attractions, making it a perfect base for exploring the city. If you’re planning a visit to Istanbul, The Mest Hotel offers comfort, outstanding service, and views that will take your breath away—a place I’d highly recommend.

The room is smaller than I expected, but the breathtaking views, exceptional cleanliness, and outstanding service more than make up for it.

Hidden Gem located inside of the market and within 10 minutes walk to the grand bazaar. Amazing view from our room to the masque priceless. Breakfasts buffet was very good with lots of food options and drinks and it’s on the rooftop with the best views. If you are looking to explore the markets this is a perfect spot and especially if you need to do multiple shopping so you can just go back to the room and drop off your bags and go back to shopping:)

If you have difficulty with mobility this is not the hotel for you, most taxis won’t be able to take you anywhere close to the hotel due to restrictions on this access road. We had to walk to the main road to get a taxi to and from.

The hotel is nicely furnished, very comfy, well maintained and cleaned. The air conditioning worked great and it was nice to return to the hotel to cool down. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was fresh, there was a lot of variety and something new to try every day. The view from the breakfast room is unforgettable! The hotel cat was cute!

Our room was below the breakfast room and every morning we were woken up early (before 7am) to the sounds of the room being set up — some sound proofing or quieter setting up is needed.

Location, polite staff, ambience, comfortable beds, lovely breakfast, hospitality and amazing views of the Eminonu/New Mosque!

Everyone is accountable to pay a charge for the Minibar and we were not informed of this considering the amount we paid for our stay. We paid £28.00

I stayed with my family from the 6th-12th of August and we absolutely loved it. My sisters and I stayed in the loft room and had an amazing view. (If you want a view of the mosque kindly ask the hotel in advance, they can’t guarantee it but for us they were able to accommodate.) I’ll list the benefits of the hotel: - The location: 7 minute walk to Eminou which is a pretty pier with loads of restaurants/galata bridge and where you’ll be catching trams/buses/ferries. Next to the hotel is the Spice Bazaar which was busy in the day. We had small kids and were absolutely fine we liked the business of the area. In the night it was very quiet but never unsafe or dirty as other reviewers have said it’s a public street not a red carpet. I would highly highly recommend people to stay in Eminönü as it’s much less expensive than Sultanahmet and quick to get there. - The breakfast: There’s loads of options, if you’re british and need bread and egg they do both and have a toaster. If you don’t like the scrambled egg you can request the kitchen to make you an omelet and say what you want added. My only tip would be if you’re used to an english tea bring your own teabags, I didn’t see a normal tea bag there but that’s to be expected when you’re in another country as they have their own version of tea. They had loads of pastries and Turkish bits and pieces. The view from the terrace is stunning and was my main motivator for booking the hotel. - The staff: Firstly the housekeeper was absolutely lovely and our towels were replaced daily and the rooms were cleaned well. Secondly, the staff at the hotel are lovely, one night we made the mistake of using an Istanbul taxi and the guy was essentially getting into it with us causing a fight which one of the guys at the desk helped us out with. Please please don’t use any form of taxi whilst in Istanbul the public transport especially the trams is great.

- Nothing, everything was amazing.

Central location right by the Spice Bazaar and Yeni Cami Mosque. Only 15 - 20 minutes walk to Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Basillica Cistern. The staff were attentive and helped with what we asked but never really needed much. The rooms were clean, and great sound proofing which you need at 4am call to prayer.

We received only one key card which I found odd considering we were in a family room with 2 adults, 1 teenage4 and a 10 year old. It would of been much better to get 2 from the start. I did request an extra one 2 days in and was given one. No conditioner in the toiletries provided. Needed this as 3 of us needed it and had to purchase. The breakfast was a letdown for me. The coffee was not great at all. I'm not expecting a barrista espresso perfection but something drinkable would be great. There were no labels to identify the buffet items and often had to ask the staff what it was, which in reply I received one word answers such as 'pudding'. There were no gluten free options that were tasty, or they didn't look great to eat.

The hotel is beautiful and located in the perfect spot to set out every day. The staff are exceptional and incredibly friendly. The terrace was a welcome addition to our stay, as it gave you a comfortable place to hang out other than our room. The view from the terrace is spectacular.

We had a family loft room, with only chair in the space even though I was messaged in advance that there were three. If the terrace room had not been available for lounging, I would have been pretty upset.

Breakfast was very turkish, plentiful and allways under the watchfull supervision of the CAT. The staff was always so helpful and even thought not very fluent in English...we understood each other.

The second bed in our room was a bit unsafe...for a kid. My kid actually fell while coming down the ladder (yes, ladder, not stair) and gave us quite a scare. We asked for a mattress be setup next to our bed. A bit tight, but it worked and we felt safe.

Slap bang in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Istanbul’s historic markets, you have the fabulous Mest Hotel. It’s simply an elegant, chic hotel in a great location only a stone’s throw away from the Spice Bazaar. My review isn’t any different from the others posted on this site but I had to make my contribution as I have only great things to say about the Mest! We were a family of 4 including 12 year old twins and stayed there for 5, very comfortable nights in August. We stayed in the loft room with balcony which was very spacious. We didn’t use the balcony as much though on many occasions we did open the beautiful French doors and let the market commotion seep into our room. The staff are very pleasant and helpful (from Front Desk to House Cleaning) and any requests were seen to immediately. Breakfast is served on the fifth/top floor with views dominated by Yeni Cami Mosque and the Bosphorus. There are pleasant little touches such as cakes/treats in the reception area which we certainly ate before venturing out. The shops and markets close around 9pm and it does get quiet which elevated the morning Adhan/call to prayer (pure sublime).

A few recommendations from us: • The iron wrought ladder leading to the single bed in the loft (mezzanine split style bedrooms, great idea!) is very steep and slightly precarious in an event of a fall/slip. My son slept in that section and as he is super agile, he had no issues. Me, not so much and I did struggle getting down (it didn’t help with all the laughter!) • The breakfast room could be utilised and open to the guests throughout the day especially during sunset for evening drinks. • It may be worth having a QR code linking to information about Istanbul, transportation, nearby sites, closed days etc. on hand especially for first time travellers like ourselves.

I stayed at the Mest Hotel with my family. The location is central, close to the main points of interest in the city, not to mention the view on the New Mosque: breathtaking! The area is very lively during the day but also very quiet at night. What made our stay memorable was the staff. A special thanks to all the guys at the reception, whose names I unfortunately cannot remember. Thanks to Başar for his kindness and constant attention. We asked for a surprise birthday cake for our mom and they organized everything in detail, making the day even more special. I highly recommend staying here, I will definitely do it again when I return to Istanbul and I will suggest this place to anyone who wants to visit the city.
