Property was lovely, a little bit tired but very clean and the gardens were really beautiful. The staff were amazing, very attentive and helpful. We were upgraded which felt like a real treat and then found a voucher for 50% off specific treatments in our room as we were the ‘lucky room’ which was a really lovely surprise to have! The grounds were great and it’s so close to the centre of bath. Google maps said 20 min walk but if you cut through the middle park opposite it is more 10/15 mins

beautiful setting and lovely grounds, parking available, very nice pool and lounging area and good spa, short walk into Bath. The bedroom was comfortable and stylish with water, tea and coffee provided

the only problem we encountered was the breakfast which was shambolic. we were asked if we would like toast and replied yes please but it never arrived even though we asked several times! my coffee was full of grounds as the cafetière was broken, again I had to ask several times for replacement coffee and a fresh cup. the cooked breakfast was ok but not great.we mentioned this to the receptionist on checking out but he was very monosyllabic and didn’t seem interested, no apology was forthcoming and we left on a low note!

I have stayed at the Bath Macdonald Spa Hotel several times and always come away feeling relaxed and energised.

I do feel the quality of the breakfast has gone down hill in recent times and the spa and swimming pool needs major refurbishment.

This is a beautiful hotel , cannot fault it terms of cleanliness, beautiful rooms , friendly staff & great spa facilities. However we stayed here a couple of years ago and i do feel it’s getting rather overpriced now . The breakfast is extortionate for what you get ! We didn’t include breakfast in our stay & paid at the hotel & it was £20pp for a basic continental breakfast. If you wanted a cooked breakfast it was £26pp. My mum & partner included the breakfast when they booked the room & it only cost them an extra £9 more than what we payed for our room. We also had 4 coffees there which came to £24 it was £5 per cup but they had put a service charge on each cup of a £1 each. So £6 per cup!!! When I’m paying good money to stay in a hotel I don’t expect to have to pay service charge on coffees I feel good service is included in the price of your stay! We wont be staying here again.

Room was comfortable and spacious. Spa pool was very good and the grounds were beautiful. Breakfast in the room. Hotel is within walking distance of the city centre and you can park your car easily in the spacious car park. The staff were all very friendly & helpful.

Checking in/out system needs to be sharpened up as there were lots of very unhappy looking clients in a long queue waiting to check in and check out. We were very lucky and seem to have missed the queues fortunately. Warners use a much more slick system. Whole hotel needs closing for a spruce up eg painting, decorating, woodwork replacing etc as it is looking rather tired. Our bathroom badly needed painting, re grouting etc.Not a five star because of the need for decoration.

The lovely room we had and the extremely comfortable bed. The grounds were very nice and the location meant we had some peace as soon as entering the hotel lobby. The spa and pool were so lovely to spend time in, especially the spa which was so warm making the contrast with the cool weather very pleasurable. We enjoyed the coffee machine in the room too and the specialty biscuits provided.

I did not like the restaurant very much. I only had breakfast each morning, the standard was not high and I left most of it, but I happily made do with the toast and fruit and coffee served. The restaurant was very elegant, the staff friendly enough but the quality made us decide to eat in town each night.

The building was beautiful and you could tell a lot of love was put into it, sure it needs a bit of a spruce up in places but we genuinely loved the hotel. The staff were so friendly and attentive right from the get go, the lady at reception remembered us from check in when we checked out and when we came in from a walk the cleaner noticed how puffed out we were and offered us water which we thought was so thoughtful given how hot it was. The staff in the restaurant were very courteous and friendly and the barman at the bar was fantastic, we genuinely can't fault the staff and the effort they put in, you could tell they were all hard workers and took pride in what they do. The room was a lovely size with working air con, the bed was a perfect size (same as at home, my partner is 6"2) and the view from the balcony was just beautiful. The bathroom was huge and very luxurious looking, close up it does need a bit of tlc but it was still a beautiful looking bathroom and the little extras were a nice touch. We also got a lovely handwritten card with some choccies because it was our anniversary, thank you so much for making it a wonderful experience, we loved it here. 💜

I think the waiting times at the restaurant could be long at times but I understand it's a Spa so they're probably not thinking about "speed" being the most important thing! Like I said there were some areas that could do with a revamp but it's a large space and it would be a big job so I understand how much of a feat that would be, I look forward to monitoring the future of the hotel and seeing what they do with it and have high hopes.

Nice building in pleasant grounds. Quiet and comfortable.

Breakfast buffet selection poor, no bread selection on display, just toast delivered to table. Just one type of yogurt available, a bowl of plain and slightly bitter yogurt. Could do with a selection of fruit flavoured yogurts. At busy times the breakfast service collapses. I asked two and three times for tea and coffee and eventually gave up and left. But having paid well for breakfast, i really shouldn't have to go elsewhere for a second pot of tea. Lunch on the terrace is pleasant, but plagued by seagulls. My wife was attacked by one and her lunch scattered. There is no attempt to deal with these pests, no dummy hawk, no netting etc.

We treated ourselves to this one so we were expecting a luxurious hotel but the McDonald Spa Hotel was that and more. It's a beautiful old building, wonderfully restored with lovely spacious gardens and a range of excellent dining experiences. They are very welcoming of pets and managing your dog is made very easy by having a ground floor room and easy access to the gardens. The spa is brilliant and I enjoyed a lovely, refreshing swim on the evening of our arrival. The room was fantastic, with a garden view and a small balcony with French windows. Excellent car-parking at a reasonable price.

The fine-dining experience was very enjoyable but a bit pricy for what was on offer. The wood in the French windows could do with some TLC.

The staff was really friendly and helpful. Amazing location only 10 min drive to Bath 20-30min walk Parking was great. The beds were super comfy. Lovely view of the garden in our room. Was very quiet and peaceful. The room was very good size. The bath in our room was very nice and big. Air con in our room was a great addition.

Food was very expensive, so I opted out as there were not many choices for vegans or vegetarians. Our room was dusty. The shower was partially broken. Curtains had rips and tears in them, thankfully still having full privacy. Sockets in a room were faulty, and when we tried plugging things in, it did not work.
