Breakfast was good nice choice and a view overlooking the band stand. We were upgraded to a seaview room which was very comfortable and spacious. The shower room was great. Room also had air-conditioning. Staff were welcoming and friendly throughout the hotel. I loved the artwork in the reception area. Will definitely stay here again.

The hotel was hosting a confirmation party when we arrived - the guests were all over reception, the bar and outside on the steps and carpark. It was a bit intimidating the hotel had a couple of security guards. When we returned around ten there were 2 carloads of security guards clearing the party and the noise levels and shouting inside/outside from the party guests was unacceptable and went on until late. Similar late on the Friday night security visited and noise levels outside woke me up after midnight. Pleased that security dealt with both incidents.

Stayed here the week before the marathon as the rooms were cheap and I wanted to check it out ad I was returning the following week for the marathon. The room was worth the price (£69) and adequate for a solo traveller (double room). It was basic but good enough and couldn’t complain too much. The location is perfect - both for Brighton and Hove.

There was no aircon in this room so a fan was available instead. There was also a big gap under the door so the light came through all night and also a nightlight on the wall by the bathroom. Great idea but couldn’t be switched off so it was on all night, and was bright! Was a bit noisy but liveable. Parking is terrible and there wasn’t much help figuring out an alternative. Asked for late checkout and was told it would be £10 per hour, which, considering I was checking out on Monday I thought they might offer an hour free - especially as I was returning the following week for an overpriced marathon room. Interestingly, someone asked the same thing on the Monday, post-marathon, and was told not to worry.

The room was great with a superb front line seaview and the breakfast was excellent.

Given it was Christmas time we were surprised how few staff were around in reception and at the bar...just felt a little dead somehow. There was no-one in the bar area when we tried to get a coffee on arrival...we had to wait for 10 minutes sitting in the reception lounge until the bar staff appeared! Shame as it's a lovely old hotel in a great location.

I was upgraded when I checked in, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff were very welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were perfect. My shower was excellent, plenty of room and the shampoo etc smelled lovely. No fiddly little containers.

It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room. Although my room was in a quieter part of the hotel (Mews), some of the bedroom doors were really noisy when being closed. I know that sounds petty, but I am sure a slight adjustment to the door closer could rectify this.

This was the best hotel I’ve stayed at, and I was so pleased with everything from the moment we arrived. We were greeted with a warm smile and a heartfelt welcome, which immediately made us feel at home. The staff were wonderful — friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. I’d like to give special thanks to the two receptionists, especially Stephanie, who was incredibly helpful with everything we needed. Her professionalism and kindness really made our stay even better. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for more. The only thing I would suggest to improve the experience is to have small fridges in the rooms, especially since the weather can be quite hot — it would be really convenient to keep drinks and snacks cool. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

Nothing everything was perfect

I liked how welcoming the front staff are and the advice they gave on what to see and where to go and about the rules of the beach. I like how the bar staff were so friendly and I liked that they considered alternative food choices

I didn’t like that I asked the cleaning staff for extra towels in my room and they were a bit rude and overwhelmed. I carried it back myself. I didn’t like the parking is so limited, also having an ev vehicle it was much harder to find a place to charge. They recommend the regents parking lot. But there is another np opposite the shopping centre which has charging points and charges the same, maybe a little less.

I stayed at this hotel yesterday to celebrate a special anniversary, and the experience was truly wonderful. The hotel is clean, elegant, and very comfortable directly in front of the beach. Our room was peaceful and cozy, creating the perfect atmosphere for a romantic getaway. The staff was warm and professional throughout our stay. A heartfelt thank you to Stefanie at the front desk — your kindness, attention to detail, and warm welcome made our celebration even more special. We felt truly cared for and appreciated every thoughtful touch. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly return for another special occasion.

The Mercure is set straight across from the beach and about a 15-20 min walk to the laines/pier and train station, so a perfect position. The hotel is bright and modern and we were surprised to find that we had been upgraded to a sea view room on our arrival. The rooms are lovely with everything you need in them. The only thing that lets it down is the restaurant on an evening. Meals took 45 mins to come out even though there was only us and another couple and the pudding took a further 40 mins (this was just a toffee pudding with custard)..we didn’t use the restaurant again but found a fabulous Italian two mins walks just past the holiday inn (you must go, food is delicious). Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

The reception area was beautifully decorated with a warm friendly atmosphere. The location is fantastic right on the seafront. The reception staff were very friendly and informative. Our room spotlessly clean with fresh cotton bedding and thick towels. A electric fan was a welcome addition to the room as the weather was warm and sunny. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold options served in the restaurant which was tastefully decorated with friendly staff on hand.

There was nothing to dislike about my stay.

Great location and very helpful staff. Was running the half marathon and went over our check out time but staff was very understanding and gave us extra time to get showered and packed. Breakfast was small and had a buffet style for hot food, pastries and fruit get there earlier as it does get busy.

There is not much to say however there was some make up stains on the carpet but over all the room was very well cleaned, NO stains on the pillows or bed sheet and the bath was very well looked after. There is parking at the back of the hotel but is very limited we had to park and the rectory car park which is a under a 5 minute walk from the hotel this did cost us 50 pound for just under 2 days
