Great place for a solo traveller to stay on a budget, plenty of local walks, and a decent variety of options in the continental breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful and the ambience was relaxed. It was nice chatting with them and the locals that popped in too. The har prices were reasonable too!
Breakfast was a bit early for me, but it was included, and it least it got me out of bed in the morning, so I didn't waste my days there! The final part of the route was somewhat challenging - 18 miles of single track road (with passing places) - and also used by large trucks. Not that I disliked it as such it was just a bit of a surprise.

Delightful family run small hotel. Personal service and interested to help in whatever way they could. Small rooms but everything we needed was there. Woderful view from our window across to Ailsa Craig (when visibility allowed!) Fresh fruit at breakfast always a plus!
Parking tricky - as we were typically back later than most the 4 spaces were not always available. But we were able to squeeze in infront of the lounge window on a couple of occasions (thank you!) Would have preferred later time window for breakfast but we made it 'work'!

The staff really made this hotel, they were so helpful and friendly. Particularly the owners, who went out of their way to help us when we arrived and had nowhere booked to eat. The addition of the pub and a big outside area to sit in the sun gave a good atmosphere. Clearly the locals support the hotel. The buffet breakfast was perfect cold meats, cheese boiled eggs, pastries, selection of bread juice cereals compotes, fruit something for everyone.
This is not a criticism just an observation, the hotel does not offer dinner.

I love these little Scottish hotels. They are generally in need of some TLC and are mostly past their prime, but they have a certain charm and the welcome is warm and genuine. Quirky rooms, lovely staff and a good selection of beers and whiskies at the little bar. They didn't do food, apart from the continental breakfast, but there are options nearby if you book ahead.

The view from the window was impressive. The hotel is also a bar. Patrons gather in the living room and are wonderful people. Everyone is very helpful. The breakfast is more than ample to get your day off to a good start. Also lots of options. The town is small with lots of character. It’s about a 30 minute drive into Campbelltown. And there are a lot of attractions within a 30 minute drive. Multiple dinning options within a mile. All excellent food/service.
Not really something we didn’t like but more like a bit of helpful advice for anyone that is driving down from the north. If you are not accustomed to driving on the left and driving on narrow roads that are more often than not just one lane. I recommend driving down the 2 lane west coast road and avoid the east coast route down to Carradale. We went down the east coast because Google maps took us that way. We decided to add 20-30 minutes to our travel time on the way back north so we could drive on a two lane road all the way. Both routes are beautiful! Enjoy, drive safe and have a great time!

The host was very profficient , friendly and unobtrusive. John was very knowledgeable about the area and nothing was too much trouble. The room was bright , a good size, and very clean - with a large window that looked out onto a very pretty rural view with a big sky. It was relaxing with virtually no noise. Being used to the quiet where we live (on another peninsula), we were happy to find this again. Friendliness and character befits this charming little place. Our vegetarian breakfast was bountiful and tasty too. Very much recommended if you are visiting Carradale in Kintyre.
Possibly the pillows were a little soft- but depends on your preference of course.

The continental breakfast was excellent. Such a great choice of fruits, cereals, meats and cheese. Also plenty of breads, juice, tea and coffee. The location was excellent with my parents having a lovely view of the golf course and sea beyond
The shower cubicle was a little on the small size but manageable

The most comfortable beds of our trip. Very helpful staff. Lovely continental breakfast including fresh fruit - made a welcome change from fried breakfasts!
Very small room, didn't matter at all for our one-night stay while walking the Kintyre Way, plus it's reflected in the price - but just to be aware.

Really warm welcome from the hosts. Cosy room with tea, coffee and biscuits. Good shower with lots of hot water, shower gel and fluffy towels. Lovely lounge with wood burner and a wall full of books and cosy sofas. Well stocked bar. Delicious breakfast - cereals, fresh fruit, croissants, danish pastries, fresh bread, meat and cheeses.
A little tired in places but nothing that spoilt our stay.

After having stayed at a very average B&B on Arran the previous night, the Ashbank on Kintyre came as a very pleasant change. Our room was very clean and freshly decorated with a fine view of Ailsa Craig!. It had nice towels and a chocolate on the bed....just little things but they showed the intention to be "top rate" in its class. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent - porridge, freshly cut fruit, juice, good coffee and a fry with excellent quality ingredients.
The room wasn't large and perhaps didn't need the large wardrobe and side table!
