Extremely comfortable beds, super location just a 2 minute drive from the town city. The owner was very pleasant and welcoming and the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly and would go above and beyond for your stay. I definitely recommend anyone to book without hesitation. We will most definitely be back again to complete the remainder of our Mourne Mountain hikes. Exceptional stay, quiet, cosy and comfortable. We slept all night like babies!

The stream pressure in the shower can be very low and for someone with long hair, the shower can take a long time but otherwise everything else was fantastic and couldn't fault anything else.

I was absolutely delighted with my stay at The Briers. Room 8 was modern, spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with lots of little personal touches. The highlight for me was the gorgeous bath in the room, perfectly positioned so you can watch a movie while you soak.. such a treat! The bed was one of the comfiest mattresses I’ve ever slept on, and there was also a separate toilet room with a stand-in shower. The room was really well equipped: coffee machine, kettle, radio, Dyson hairdryer (I’m now tempted to buy one!), dressing table, plenty of storage, tower fan for warmer nights, and even an honesty bar with drinks. Free Wi-Fi worked well, and the self-service breakfast in the morning was a nice bonus. I really appreciated the friendly, welcoming staff and the relaxed atmosphere, you’re left to do your own thing, but help is easy to get if you need it. There’s plenty of parking, beautiful gardens with mountain views (lots of butterflies int he garden when we were there- as a photographer, I was delighted to see them and got some great shots!) :) , and lots of cosy lounge space in the main house. The whole property has a lovely country house charm. The location is ideal, only about 5 minutes from Newcastle, right across from Tollymore Forest Park, and well signposted. There are lots of places to eat nearby and plenty to do in the area, we also got 10% off in the Harbour house restaurant using one of the cards from the property which was great (food was amazing and its dog friendly too!) Standouts for me were the bath in the room and how dog-friendly the property is. I’d happily return and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable stay in a beautiful setting.

The host was super friendly very welcoming, bed was comfy, shower was great and it was a bonus to open the blinds and see some farm animals in the field next to it!

Wouldn’t fault the property for it however we struggled to get back to it from castlewellen as no taxis were available so we walked for an hour.

Last minute stay due to working in the area. After a really long day and the next day being the same, I booked to be near the location I was working. Was greeted super warmly, everything explained and was shown the breakfast area, as I was leaving super early the next morning. Super sweet guy , interested in what I was doing in the area and just made me feel at super ease and welcome to the property. I was upgraded to one of their new rooms and just wow! Beautiful, modern room, loved the decor. The bathtub in the room was just amazing! A real touch of luxury and I needed a treat after a long day. Room was big and warm. Loved the fact there was a Dyson hairdryer, I have one so this was a lovely touch! Big soft pillows, really comfy bed. I struggle to sleep on my own, had absolutely no issue in this room! The bathroom is also huge, great shower and again very modern. Water provided for free also there is a mini bar in the room. Loved the different glasses in the cabinet. Super nice! Tv had so much choice on it so if you wanted to just chill, plenty to choose from. I did get a little bit warm during the night but there was a great fan in the room so it cooled me down. The location is stunning. The views are breathtaking. Really short distance to Tollymore Forest, you could literally walk it. Will be back for a longer stay and highly recommend over the bigger hotels in the area.

Loved everything!

The location was great for our hike in the Mourne mountains, and would have been extremely peaceful if you don't arrive at the same time as the other guests that were there with us. It being pet friendly was a great plus since we were traveling with our small dog, and we felt welcome with her throughout the property. The room itself was adequate, nothing special but nothing bad with it either.

There was a group of other guests who were super loud in the common area until very late, and as a younger couple we didn't feel comfortable approaching a group of 8+ drunk adults that should have known better than to shout loudly until after midnight and let their kids scream and run through the halls in front of our room. There was no staff we could easily find there to ask them to address it, so we were left awake until hours later than we wanted to be. Not the property's fault per say, but it definitely soured our stay.

The host Darren checked us in at reception .He was very pleasant,full of local knowledge .Arranged a taxi to and from our evening entertainment .He made a point while we were having breakfast to approach us and as if we had an enjoyable evening and ask if we got our return taxi back to the accommodation .The breakfast room is definitely well set up .A self-service continental breakfast,with all the mod cons to assist your every need .Loved this ! There is plenty of parking room ,lovely gardens to sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside .I would highly recommend, The Briers and I certainly will be returning again in the spring for a longer stay .I rate them 10 out of 10 .Well done to Darren and his team .👏

We absolutely loved our stay at The Briers Country House! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us — and our two dogs — feel incredibly welcome. The facilities were outstanding, with every detail thoughtfully considered and so many lovely touches throughout. It's in a fantastic location too — peaceful, yet just a short distance from town. And the breakfast options were excellent, with plenty of choice to suit everyone. We truly enjoyed every moment and can’t wait to return!
