We visited Edinburgh at the end of May. Staff were friendly and attentive. We received an anniversary card and some prosecco with our meal - lovely gesture. We stayed in the Shirley Manson room. Each room is named after a Scottish celebrity. Hotel is clean but a little worn around the edges. Excellent shower, rainfall style and very powerful. Restaurant has limited choice but food was to a very good standard, hotel residents get 20% discount off food. Bar setting was nice, a bit different. Quite expensive but it is a hotel. The honey roasted Carrots are a must!
This is not so much things that we did not like, just niggles…. Room gets very hot but there is a Dyson fan that helps. Fridge is packed full of drinks to purchase, no room to store your own stuff. Draw space - lack off Lack of hooks, may not seem like a big deal but there is no where to hang anything! You end up with coats draped over the chair! The bed, be warned, the mattress topper is bigger than the bed, when you sit on the edge, you will fall off. That said, we slept well and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast! The cooked breakfast included in our room rate was not great but the porridge with honey and berry compote made up for it.

The hotel was beautifully decorated with the rooms named after Scottish actors. We had Gerard Butler watch over us, a fun twist. A mini bar is provided for convenience. The bed was large and comfortable. There was a Dyson fan in the room for the warmer nights. Huge windows looking out to the Westend streets. Perfect location for some of the best restaurants and shops in town and walkable from both train stations. Late check out was provided too.
It was not something I didn't like, but the service was a wee bit slow, no one at the check-in desk, and we waited a while for someone to arrive, when they did arrivethey were very pleasant. We ate at the bar restaurant, and staff were polite but not very knowledgeable or speedy. There's nothing wrong with that, just room for improvement.

Rooms are themed with Scottish celebrities, we had the Amy MacDonald room. Room was clean overall but a bit small. Anyway the hotel is located right in the heart of Edinburgh so best location to expore the city.
Breakfast too expensive - better go to one of the cafés nearby offering breakfast for between £ 11-14. Room was quite small but clean. If you need to go to the toilet, do this in your en-suite. The toilets down in the bar/restaurant are quite filthy, we made this experience at 11 in the morning. All in all the rates are too expensive for what you get.

Hotel location was perfect for the city centre. Bar / breakfast restaurant lovely and food was good. The room was well-equipped and the staff added thoughtful touches when I made them aware it was a birthday trip. Will definitely stay here again!
There was another guest who had some issues and had missed the kitchen opening times, and due to it being Sunday night wasn’t able to visit a supermarket to grab some food. The hotel wasn’t able to offer her anything makeshift from the kitchen and I thought that would have shown exceptional customer service if they had been able to help her out.

A wonderful experience, we will be back, thanks guys
Nothing really, Maybe the bed in our room could be a little bit bigger, but really no worries

The staff were excellent, very friendly, willing to go that extra mile, they held onto my case for a few hours the day after my stay, as I flew out many hours after checkout. Speaking of, gave me an extra hour late checkout after asking, no questions asked. I checked in around 3pm and the person on desk couldn't have been more welcoming. Room itself, I enjoy the name theming, especially as I can now make the easy joke that I was inside Sharlene Spiteri on my break.
I enjoy the cold, so not much issue for me, but I feel others may have found the room a little chilly. It made the tiled bathroom a bit less comfy to use. The windows were also sealed, but there was perhaps a bit of looseness due to high winds which made them a bit loud. Not rattling, just a bit of broad noise. Perhaps a bit more sound control between the bathroom and bedroom could have solved that.

Great location, easy walk to the tram and Princes Street. Cute rooms and comfortable bed. Like the gesture of the kettle and tea cakes. Fridge was a bonus. Staff were friendly.
Room was a little stuffy and hot. The hotel do provide Dyson fans but I found this to be ineffectual. Would have been great to be able to open the window more. Breakfast was great if you wanted a cooked breakfast but the only other options were porridge and toast. Would have preferred to have even a minimal continental option with breakfast.

The decor is amazing! It's filled with photographs of Scottish celebrities from the sports, music, and acting worlds. Each room has a theme -- we stayed in the Rod Stewart Room, which is right next to the Sir Sean Connery Room. There was a huge photo of Rod Stewart over the headboard. The restaurant was good -- haggis was featured in every category except dessert, which was funny -- with plenty of non-haggis options. The "new town" was very walkable and staff were helpful about giving us directions and recommendations. There are also multiple restaurants that are an easy walk from the hotel.
The breakfast is good, but the options were limited. There were a variety of eggs benedict options, yogurt and fruit, or porridge. I would have liked some more variety.

I loved that each bedroom featured a famous person from Scotland - together with all the fabulous photographs downstairs. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the facilities were excellent. The 'proper' coffee in the bedrooms was an added bonus. Breakfast was gorgeous with good options and when we dined in one night, the cod was absolutely delicious. Wonderful selection of drinks and cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Ummm - the curtains in the bedroom - they were heavy and long - I found them very difficult to pull - maybe a pole attached to the top rings might help. But it was such a small thing and otherwise I could not complain about anything. I loved my room - the bed was exceptionally comfortable and there was no noise to disturb me.

The location was superb and the hotel felt plush, perfect for a bougie stay to celebrate a friend's 50th. Breakfast wasn't the cheapest, but it was very tasty and left us full for most of the day. The bed was comfy enough and the team were happy to switch to non-down pillows, due to allergies. The location was absolutely superb for exploring Edinburgh.
It was a little tatty and worn in places in the room. The safe didn't work. Would have maybe expected a bit more magic for a 4* off Princes Street, but satisfied with our stay.
