The location

Inconsistent customer service. Very difficult to get a person on the phone. Using email to communicate is unacceptable when you don't get timely responses.

The location was great - easy to get to from the Princes St. Tram stop (and just as easy from train or bus from airport if taken). The instructions to find it and get in were perfect and easy to follow. Even though it is technically above a bar, it wasn’t noisy! And I was there Halloween weekend, so don’t let that worry you. The room was the perfect size for my solo travel and I felt safe. Very clean and the staff was very prompt with communication. Would stay again!

The temperature thing took a minute to get used to, but it all worked out fine. If you have any issues with mobility, I’d really consider….the stairs add character for sure and I loved them. But having just recovered from a serious leg injury, I was thinking how there’s now way I could have safely done it a year ago. Narrow, turning stairs, yes. But just the cobble stones and walkways back in the closes can be quite tricky, especially when wet. So just fyi!

For a long reekend stay the property is excellent, the location could not be any better for the Castle, or for us the Edinburgh Tattoo and the Fringe festival, but it is also perfect for a stay anytime, as you walk out of the door and straight onto the Royal mile. The location for us was perfect for travelling on the train, and was a 10 to 15 minute walk to the location. Everything was as described and it makes you fully aware of the steps to the room as well. Plenty of gret places to eat, all extremely close.

There was nothing not to like, a snug cosy room in a perfect location. The only addition we think would be useful for longer stays would maybe be a microwave? but we were extremely happy with everything.

Stayed in room number 2 Panmure and IT WAS GREAT! I was scared to death before arrival because of those horrible reviews, but honestly the room is big enough, clean enough and self check-in easy pretty easy! I don’t like properties without reception myself so I wouldn’t have done so if I realized this while booking, but I’m glad I did. I’m a 35+ with a regular fit and I managed to carry my mid-size 18+ kg luggage upstairs pretty easy. The location is perfect and very safe for the solo travelling ladies. Don’t be fooled by the dark narrow passage, because that’s how passages are in Edinburgh!

There is nothing I did not like. Yes the carpet is old, furniture is old, but not like creepy old- stylish old. The windows are old - I’m sure winter bookings are having a difficult time, but it was perfectly fine in mid-August.

Great location on the Royal Mile. The room was well appointed and comfortable, although being a very tight space. The staff provided pictures with the directions/instructions which were helpful. When we first arrived, we needed assistance and the staff responded immediately.

We could hear our neighbors. Sometimes our lights would flicker (and once even went off) when the neighbors clicked their lights on. It was smaller than we like, but we thought that might be the case going in. We were willing to deal with that due to the convenience of the location.

Perfect stay for those who want to be central to the action in Edinburgh. The room was a decent size and well equipped with everything you need for a short stay. While it does not have a kitchen, a kettle with coffee, tea, and biscuits was provided, along with a small fridge to store snacks and leftover food. The bathroom was well stocked, and the shower was amazing. Despite some reviews warning against cleanliness, we found it very neat, and the management communicated well.

We stayed on the 1st floor, which was manageable for us, but due to the steep stairs with no railing, I would not recommend this accommodation to those who are not fit, elderly, or carrying a lot of heavy luggage.

The location could not be better for exploring Edinburgh; just down the street from Edinburgh Castle, directly on the Royal Mile. The proprietor was great with communication about access to the room (it's remotely managed). Overall an excellent experience.

The room is pretty small and only accessible via an old spiral staircase which wasn't a problem for us, but would be a real impediment to anyone with a mobility impairment or hefty luggage. There were no curtains, only a blind that could definitely be seen through and did not block the morning light; we had to hang a blanket over the window.

The location was great, we were provided with very detailed instructions and the place was easy to find and close to everything we wanted to visit. By far the best part about the property is its history - I enjoyed reading about the building on a notice that was left on the door, and we felt like we were staying in a castle. Despite the old building, the bathroom was very modern, clean and easy to use. The view outside the window was nice too - it is Edinburgh after all.

Because it is an old building there are no elevators. I had requested a room on one of the lower floors as I was traveling with two heavy suitcases but unfortunately I had to carry them up to the fourth floor. This cannot be helped so I don't blame anyone, getting to stay in a building like this was lovely but if you aren't physically fit or have heavy luggage do be aware.

The room was in the heart of Edinburgh’s Royal Market and it was clean and comfortable. It was neat to step out of the door and be at the Writer’s Museum and a bar and a café.

There was no clear explanation of how difficult it would be to get to the location and that we would mount 68 wooden steps on a 400 year old spiral staircase without a handrail. It also required us to use two codes and a lockbox to get our key for entry. We did fine but this needs to be shared up front with potential guests.

The most perfect location in Edinburgh, great cozy and clean interior in a historical building, whith e view, just a minute from the edinburgh Castle, the Cathedral and the railway (for daytrips) . Everything was amazing about it. Travelling for 20 years I have stayed in numerous places, that was one of a kind on its category.

I thought I could find the location easier the first time, but that was my mistake, I haven't checked all the instructions in advance. It might be in the most central place in Edinburgh, but its a bit of a puzzle to find it on arrival, especially if you arrive late at night.
