I had a great stay at Cheval Old Champer Hotel. The location was fantastic—close to many key attractions—which made getting around very easy. The apartment itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff at reception were friendly, professional, and always ready to help. One small downside was the cupboard in the main bedroom, which was quite small and not very practical. Adding some drawers or extra storage space would be a big improvement. Also, on our last day, we had requested and received approval for a late checkout at 12 instead of 11. However, the housekeeping staff knocked on our door and told us that checkout was at 11, speaking in a rather bossy tone, which was disappointing.

I have stayed at Cheval properties several times and am never let down. This trip was particularly special. We were greeted warmly by reception staff, who dealt with our heavy bags with grace. Staff in general were friendly and responsive but not at all overbearing (crucial for a relaxing stay!). Our room was perfect, with a magnificent view over New Town and everything we could have needed. Cheval have clearly considered every detail in their rooms- we loved the comfy bed, the lighting, quality furnishings and giant bath. Thank you Cheval!

This hotel was fabulous. Great location right on the royal mile. The room was awesome , spacious lovely and warm . Staff were friendly and helpful stored our bags, lent us an umbrella as it was raining. Nothing was too much trouble . Also have to mention the food in their restaurant, was amazing, ate dinner and breakfast there .We have been travelling for over a month and hands down the best two meals we have eaten. Thank you

The location on the Royal Mile was perfect! We were a very short distance to everything by except busses. The accommodations were airy and roomy with the bed comfy. We particularly liked the kitchenette and the walk-in shower. The hotel staff were always friendly and accommodating. Honestly, it was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed and if I come back to Edinburgh, I will stay here again.

Everything was great! The only thing was I had to ask where the blow dryer was since it wasn’t in the bathroom. (It was in a closet next to the kitchen table.)

The apartment itself was lovely. Spacious and clean with appliances and kitchen equipment.

Apartment 416 is away from the main building and is down one of the closes/alleys with multiple steps. This would be tricky for someone with mobility issues. If I stayed again I would ask for one of the apartments in the actual hotel with the entrance/exit onto the main street. There is also a pub opposite apartment 416. It's a lovely pub but can be noisy first thing in the morning with deliveries etc. Also there is no phone in the apartment to contact concierge.

The view from the room was fantastic! Waking up to such a beautiful sight every morning was a real treat. The hotel is centrally located, with all major attractions just minutes away. We also loved having a washer and dryer in the room, which made our stay so much more convenient. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Highly recommend!

The walk up the stairs from the rail station was a bit of a challenge. If you're arriving by train, I'd recommend taking a taxi to the hotel! That five-minute walk uphill turned out to be quite the workout, but it also gave us some great memories—we laughed the whole way up! It didn't affect my rating, though, because everything else about our stay was perfect.

MY GOOGLE REVIEW: We had a true world class experience. While the hotel and the room were certainly beautiful and the is located in the premier location in edinbrough, the true value of this hotel IS THE SERVICE PEOPLE!!! They were all so kind, so helpful, so caring. I felt like we actually made a number of friends from the visit and my wife and I can’t wait to go back. My wife had some physical issues and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us in every possible way. It was truly beautiful to see. Very special shoutout to Vanessa at the front desk.

We were fortunate to be upgraded to a balcony room as the room we requested was sadly unavailable, we were provided a room with the save view overlooking the new town. Very easy to access, nice central location with lovely views. Very spacious apartment with all the facilities we needed. Made for a very comfortable stay.

Excluding the wardrobe, somewhere to hang some coats would have made sense. Not really a criticism and just shows there was nothing wrong at all, just a suggestion.

Excellent location but there are many, many stairs and doors to get to the 2 bedroom apartment. Apartment was clean and comfortable but ceilings very low and felt a little claustrophobic. Staff very helpful and obliging.

We loved absolutely everything about our stay. The room turned out to be even better than in the pictures. The location is ideal, right on the Royal Mile. Easy to get anywhere. The room was clean, beds were very comfy, all the necessities were provided. Great breakfast starting from 7 am. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

The wooden floors were really squeaky, but I guess this is something to expect in an old building like that. Our room was in their second building and there were a couple of stairs, which was not very convenient with big suitcases. The staff however helped us carry them to our room.
