For a hostel, it's remarkably clean. The kitchen and common area are pretty nice and lively, and they offer free walking tours and whisky tastings in their own bar. There's a locker for your things that you lock with a personal code, and it's pretty easy to climb into the pods. Bathrooms and showers are big and clean.

Mixed dorms. There should be an option to have female/male only dorms. I got stuck with three guys in the dorm that made a snoring competition during the night.

Excellent location, very central on the royal mile. Close to shops, main attractions, and bus tours. Very helpful staff. Very good breakfast.

Only 2 washers and 1 functional dryer (out of 2) for the whole place. Squeaky floors even when we try to be quiet. In general the bathrooms are clean but many times housekeeping falling behind.

Location was outstanding. Staff were excellent Female only room of 10 quiet - we were all asleep by 11pm Pods comfortable - slept very well Security and safety excellent Great showers

Not much really. I had travelled from Australia for two nights and did, thankfully, pack a weekend bag for use for the two night which was essential when I saw the size of the room with no floor space to have opened my case if needed. Lockers were also small and only held hand luggage with suitcase having to be left out with everyone else’s Room felt very safe so that was fine, but lack of floor space was at times challenging.

It's astonishing how lovely all of their staff are! Very kind, respectful and helpful at all times. Special shout out to Janna and Leighton for the extra help. The hostel includes a Bistro which has great value for price. The cleaners are amazing, the bathrooms were always impressively clean in comparison to the amount of guests. My Pod was relatively wide and had everything it needed including a small shelf. The location is perfect - in the middle of the royal mile and only 10 Minutes from Waverly. I was over all very happy with my stay and would book this hostel again!

The only downside at the moment is, that there is no common room or guest kitchen available. As a guest you can stay in the space of the bistro without having to consume, which is nice. But an actual common room with a couch, games etc. would be even better. But I belive that they are currently building something like this! Due to the lack of an actual common room it's rather hard to connect with other travellers. Because Edinburgh is very expensive people who wouldn't usually stay in a hostel are guests here as well. Therefore the atmosphere isn't very hostel-ish. But those are small critiques, as I absolutely loved my stay.

Good standard above normal hostel levels and very well maintained. Cool vibe and great sleep in the pods!

Ventilation is poor. Pods aren't designed to have any ventilation, and the large court dorm itself has little ventilation; hallways have no ventilation at all and hence are really stuffy. Bathrooms are clean but lack hooks near the sinks and additional shelf space that doesn't get wet while using the sink. The place gets more expensive every year and this year's Fringe pricing really got a bit excessive. I had booked a dorm pod for the week and a double cell for myself and my partner for the weekend but cancelled the cell when I realized that for the same money I could get a fabulous real hotel that even had a Nespresso machine in the room!

The staff was the absolute best thing about this place. I had to reschedule mid-trip and the staff was so friendly and helpful and super accommodating, especially with how messy my booking got coming from Booking.com. But a quick chat with staff and they sorted it all out for me and it was so easy. Loved that you get a door code and not a keycard. Loved the food and the prices. Loved the atmosphere and the whole place just felt safe and clean, which mattered a lot as i was traveling solo.

My overall opinion of this place is vey good and this is literally just nitpicking. The pods were a bit tight and if you moved too much you'd bang on the walls easily, which isn't too nice if someone's in the pod next to you and trying to sleep, i feel like some form of muffling would have been nice. And my cable for my headphones didn't work in the usb charger that was in the pod but there were extra plugs on the table outside the pods so it didn't matter much.

Great location right next to st Giles cathedral and basically the middle of everything, the staff were super friendly and helpful with all my needs, and the cafe downstairs was also delicious and the servers were super talkative. I enjoyed the theming of the hostel and the pods were surprisingly quiet as I slept super comfortably, the lockers are pretty easy to figure out and are good for smaller suitcases, but might have some trouble with big suitcases if you’re doing a long journey.

Not exactly didn’t like just a bit of an inconvenience that they don’t have both girls and boys bathrooms in each floor so depending what floor you’re on, you might have to go to a different floor for the bathroom.

It's was in the perfect location and was exceptionally clean and fresh and have already recommended it to others and would definitely book to stay again without any hesitation. We were given eye masks, chocolate and ear plugs in our room which we used neither as it was perfectly quiet and peaceful for us, and fresh towels all the shared facilities were spotless and could eat you dinner from it to coin a phrase. The breakfast , daytime food and bar were amazing the food was delicious tasty and filling and very reasonable, definitely recommend pre paying for breakfast combos !! Staff were all without exception kind courteous and could not do enough for you and one of the best group of staff I have ever had the pleasure to deal with in a hotel environment I cannot talk highly enough about this property it was one of the best places I have stayed and have stayed in all sorts of hotels in my life !!!!

Nothing not to like it was perfect

Pods were very comfortable - even though at first I felt a bit confined, you get used to it quickly. Very comfy beds and for a hostel, you get plenty of privacy. Staff is nice and great!

Due to a fire safety procedure, there was a leakage above my pod and my only pair of shoes got soaked. I was already very tired after my trip at that point and was disappointed, but the staff were very understanding and empathetic which was very comforting. They offered all possible solutions and the problem was easily solved! Very expensive, but it is understandable due to the festival in the city.
