The property was super clean and smelt lovely. It felt brand new, facilities, bedding, everything. The kitchen was fabulous and had all you need including some lovely touches, easy to keep clean, paper towels etc and the ‘extra bathroom’ was most appreciated as I was in a very small room with toilet and shower combined so this allowed me a pleasant bathroom experience without steaming up the small room. The highlight was the staff and their incredible kindness to me, as they assisted me with my luggage up the stairs with my mobility issues, even at 6am on a Sunday!!

It was confusing on arrival, as I was expecting an ‘Inn’ but it is an apartment. This would be helpful to know beforehand. This was also due to me not having data on my phone to receive calls and they did try! Once I learnt I could use WhatsApp this was resolved so it would be helpful to have an advertised alternative contact for travelers who need to use wifi only. It would also be great if there was a frying pan as they had everything else! … Finally, I was there during the Fringe (great location!) but I discovered my window was directly above a venue that was open til 3am and very loud trucks and constant noise. I had opted to stay here instead of the Grassmarket as I thought it would be a little quieter. The ear plugs were most appreciated!!

I traveled for business and the apartment was very convenient for a short stay (2 nights). The room was designed in a smart way, maximizing the availability of utilities in a small room, including private bathroom. Access to shared kitchen, with free water/cofee/tea. Bus stops in front of apartment and short distance to railway station to continue your journey. Excellent location to have an evening walk (Royal Mile only 100 m distance). Great place for short stay, with easy check-in (hand-over of keys by owner after agreed time slot) and check-out (simply leaving keys in the room).

Had everything I required and more. Shaheen and Julie could not have been more helpful. Just a short, half block walk to the Royal Mile. Shaheen was in contact via text to confirm arrival time and ensure I found the place. I arrived a bit early and Julie was there to greet me, let me in and show me the facilities. Room was so well equipped with hair dryer, hair straightener, magnifying mirror, plentiful towels, comfortable and firm bed, TV and great hot water. The communal kitchen(which I did not expect) had tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, even a washing machine! There was even a bathroom with a full bath to relax in after walking the city. Across the road was a Sainsburys market and the block was full of food shops. As a single woman travelling in a city I didnt know, I felt secure and safe as there were locks on front door, internal door and my room door.I just loved Thistle City Inn, would definitely stay again and recommend to all my friends.

Great location in the city centre, spotlessly clean,everything and more that you would need amenities wise with everything very modern and up to date. Our host Shaheen went beyond to help us out when our trains were delayed to hold our luggage there in the meantime. Smaller touches such as fresh bottles of water and hotel biscuits in the kitchen didn’t go unnoticed for us either 😊thank you very much!

Only possible thing we noticed was the windows didn’t keep out much noise but with it being an older building we totally expect that! Especially being in a busy city centre so was by no means an inconvenience, just something to be aware of 🙂

The host was very sweet and explained how everything in the room worked. She was very patient and waiting for us to arrive as we were running late. The room was nice and clean. There was a full self-service kitchen with laundry. We never heard the other guests. The apartment is about one block down from the royal mile. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance.

There is a bar downstairs and it was loud all through the night. Ear plugs were provided if we needed them. The noise wasn't really an issue for us.

Team was communicative and welcoming. They let me in an hour before check in as I arrive sooner than expected. I was only in the room to sleep, and the room was small but perfect for what I wanted. Location couldn't have been better for exploring the Royal Mile!

It was loud at night, but I turned on the TV and went right to sleep after a long day of traveling and wandering. Absolutely can handle the noise to have such a great location.

the property was in a central location but at a cheap price during a peak tourism period. the room I was in had an attached wet room (toilet/shower) that was very clean the room also had a good fan for if the room got too hot

I will be honest the room window did back on to a busy area so it could be a bit noisy but there were earplugs provided. the bed was a spring mattress with a single very soft pillow so as a side sleeper i did have some difficulty getting to sleep but if you are a front or back sleeper you will probably be fine

I'm definitely staying here again! Honestly, I almost missed the place upon my arrival. It's just a door on the street, with no sign whatsoever. But the staff was ready to answer Booking.com chat and welcome me. The hotel stays in the perfect location and the room, besides being brand new, exceeded my expectations.

Nothing really. It's just a bit noisy, but I guess that's the price one must pay for staying in the old city center. I would stay here again and again, for sure!

Super convenient location, and affordable price, nice amenities is like slippers, fan in the room, and earplugs, and toiletries and hairdryer also provided. Super bare bones, with just a room big enough for a twin bed and an en suite bath, but that was truly all that was necessary.

Temperature control was only available with a plug-in fan, but it actually was quite effective.

The room was very spacious and clean. The owners invested a lot of time and money into making the room an outstanding place to stay.

It was a bit noisy at night, but I can't fault the owners for this. We wanted to stay close to the Royal Mile, and we knew going into this trip that it was going to be loud at night. They did provide ear plugs, which was a nice touch.
