It is a hostel, so in advance one should adjust the exspectations. The family room was functional and small, but clean. Breakfast was a good assortment of cereals, teas, coffee, bread, jams and chocolate spread. There‘s continental as well as cooked breakfast and a pancake machine. The staff is so nice. I broke a glass during breakfast and staff reacted quickly and was absolutely kind. The staff at the front desk is also ready to help and very kind.

We knew before it would be loud during the nights, but I didn‘t expect it to be that loud. The windows don’t even lock out the gulls‘ yelling. Besides, the mattresses and pillows were too hard for my family and me.

Good positioning, very close to main city attractions and the railway station (Waverley Station), decent food/drinks prices at the bar, clean rooms, well set internal rules, hot water anytime, day & night. As an a&o client, I am always looking for an a&o location first, when visiting western european cities.

After dark, access could be tricky if you go by googlemaps, guiding you to the back entrance (which may be closed late in the evening). Better signaling nearby the premises is recommended. Breakfast is a bit poor (compared to other international a&o locations), Also the dining area (an inside bar during the rest of the day) feels a bit overused. The staff may be overwhelmed during peak hours and may not be fast to respond, but they are doing their best. Unsteady local internet speed.

Good location Super convenient prices Staff its nice Would only recommend for young travelers, not families or couples Water pressure for shower ok

Would only recommend for young travelers, not families or couples. It has a bar in first floor (common area of the building) and its not suitable for kids. That also makes it loud in the night (they yell and you hear in the room, I was in the last floor and was still able to hear) The bed was extremely uncomfortable, I slept awful those days. The kitchen was super small and not well taken care of. If you cook you need to eat in the bar and its uncomfortable. Breakfast its also served in the bar area, it doesn't fit

Everyone from the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, especially Isabela who worked during our breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning during our stay and the receptionist on Saturday afternoon who helped get our coffee to go :) The breakfast was really good, I was a bit afraid it will be messy in the bar after being open until 1am based on previous reviews but all was spotless clean and breakfast items were regularly topped up. The room was very nice and spacious and the location was amazing, right in the centre of everything you need and very close to all the bars, restaurants as well as train station. We would definitely recommend this hostel and stay again when in Edinburgh.

The only thing we can think of are the beds, the beds are quite squeaky but nothing that would bother us while sleeping.

Location was superb! Room was big for 2 people and the beds were very comfy! Also - there was plenty of towels which was great!

The housekeeping kept knocking numerous times and disturbing us. I presume it was different people. They even knocked when we had the do not disturb sign on the door.

The staff were very friendly and helpful :) The location is amazing, being 10 mins walk away from the railway station is so convenient! It was also great to be able to store my luggage for free. The breakfast buffet option is very reasonable and was good!

The ladders on the bunk beds feel a bit dangerous, especially if you get in on a late night. Some details should be more clear on the website, like the price for towels etc, it's not a big deal or anything, just nice to know. And for people who haven't stayed at a hostel before, maybe some tips about what to bring with you etc, specific to a&o but none of these are complaints by any means, just suggestions :) Maybe it sounds silly but I would have brought a lock for the storage crate if I knew I had to bring one (some hostels have lockers with keycodes so I thought it would be something like that). The only complaint I do have is the smell of the bathroom in the room, it trapped the urine smell for some reason, so maybe there needs to be some air freshener or bleach around.

I was upgraded to a 10-bed room which was big enough even for 5 bunk beds. The room has two sets of separate toilets and bathroom and all of them were very clean with liquid soap supplied. Even there is a bar on the ground floor, my room was very quiet at night and I slept comfortably. Very good breakfast that worth the price £9.95

Not all beds have bed-side sockets for device charging. Fortunately I managed to secure a bed with sockets, so it is fine with me. No bedside lighting.

The property is extremely centrally located; I was really surprised to see it took only 5 minutes to walk to the royal mile and another two to the national museum. The rooms are not too bad. They do tend to get a bit warm, with the unseasonable heat that comes around now. The provided fan helped a lot though. The staff are amazing; we had a lot of requests for things, but they were really accommodating and polite.

Nothing really comes to mind.

Even though it's a hostel, the bathroom was shared only with the six people in the room, and there were two shower rooms—one large and one small. The larger one was big enough for a wheelchair. The room itself was spacious, with storage available, though you need to bring your own padlock. You are provided with sheets and pillowcases to make the bed yourself. Everything was very clean, although the beds weren’t great. The room required a keycard for entry, so it was secure. There was also an elevator and a storage room available.

As I mentioned, the beds weren’t great. The location wasn’t far from the train station, but the path was very steep, which could be difficult for those with a lot of luggage. The price per bed still felt a bit expensive for a hostel and could have been cheaper. At the beginning, there was an issue with the keycard to enter the room, but the staff resolved it well.

The place is conveniently located and is really close to the area that we planned to visit. The staff are accomodating especially with our queries about how can we get from point A to point B easily and they gave our group a map 🫶 to give us a view what else is within the area.

Just minor issue with the cleaning, in the room there was a lighter and a pack of cigarette left and we can’t close the window i mean the lock is not working. But overall still a very good place to stay.
