Amazing style and "atmosphere" at this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, genuinely seemed like they wanted to help. Room was beautiful, well laid out, good mini bar, comfortable bed and amazing view (castle view room). Location is even better than the hotel itself. Walk out the door and right to the main old town area attractions. One thing to note, TAKE A TAXI if arriving from the train station. We say it was a short distance and decided to walk it with our suitcases, which lead to us lugging out bags up countless staircases. Taxi back to the station at the end of the trip was only $5.....So just take the taxi haha.

Most staff were exceptional however, our check in experience was by far under par! The receptionist simply didn’t seem to have a clue and gave us no information regarding the hotel or the facilities. We saw other people being checked in given a five star service unfortunately ours was a 2 star!

The location of the hotel and the helpfulness of the staff were great! The concierge was always there to guide us through Edinburgh which helped us quite a lot! The bar area and the general atmosphere of the hotel was really cool. And the terrace was amazing, you get the view everyone wants to have in Edinburgh, the castle. We tried the breakfast one day and that was enough to be honest, the food was not great and unfortunately neither was the service (I think they were a bit understaffed)... So I would suggest not booking breakfast included if it is available. In general, the people were super helpful and kind which made the experience even better. The rooms were also nice, modern and clean.

Beautifully presented, great location, friendly staff and stunning design. Welcome drinks and Scottish treats in room were a lovely touch.

We stayed in a room which was a long walk from the reception, and there was no alternate entrance on that side of the hotel. The hotel is actually formed of several buildings and subsequently we had to take the lift, followed by walking long corridors and several flights of stairs each time we wanted to get to/from our room. Not ideal for people with mobility issues or injuries, especially combined with all the walking that a trip to Edinburgh involves. No other complaints, would absolutely stay again but would want a different room location.

Beautiful hotel! The breakfast was fantastic my 1st morning. It was still good other mornings but when I ordered the same thing the 2nd day, it wasn't quite as good albeit still good. I loved the room and especially the balcony. It was so nice sitting out there and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The staff was so kind and helpful. I will definitely stay here again! I want a vanity and bathroom with the shower at home! 😁

There was more avocado and feta the 1st morning breakfast but it was still good other mornings. If I had to choose 1 thing, I like a fan on at night for sound and coolness, they did not have a fan. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

The location is perfect and the staff was top tier and so welcoming, kind, and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and thoughtfully laid out without being stuffy or pretentious. The breakfast was delicious and beautiful. Even the chef that made the eggs and waffles was the kindest man. Normally, Virgin Hotel Edinburgh is out of my price range but I caught a deal so I could finally stay. I almost wish I hadn’t so I wouldn’t know what I was missing when I can’t afford it. Haha. I’ve stayed at other Virgin Hotels (NYC and Chicago) and so far, Edinburgh is my favorite.

Really nice hotel, great rooftop, cool modern rooms, girlfriend loved the area to get ready, staff super friendly and welcoming without being over the top. Room service options great. No street noise. Perfect location. If we stayed again we’d upgrade to a nicer room, not sure the standard chambers justify the price compared to other options in Edinburgh. Only negative is we had to rebook due to the storm and were told if we rebooked outside of a certain window there wouldn’t be additional costs, ended up costing £90 more when we booked in the windows we were told there wouldn’t be an additional cost. Disappointing there but also appreciative the booking was honoured as some hotels may have said “unlucky”. Overall, impossible to have a bad time here.

The hotel is in an excellent location, just off the Royal Mile. It's in a old building which has been beautifully refurbished as a hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was comfortable with all the amenities you would want and expect from a 5 star - we had a wonderful view of the Castle too. The bar was cosy and comfortable and the cocktails are delicious. Breakfast was served in the Eve restaurant, lots of options and great service. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Edinburgh

We've never stayed at a Virgin Hotel and this place was a vibe. Since we were staying at local hotels outside of the city we opted for a glamorous experience. Sir Richard has excellent taste. The hotel was sleek and well curated yet provided a private and personable experience for no fuss travelers like us. The porters and valets made us feel at home and were truly passionate to making our stay enjoyable. The location is the perfect spot in old town for quick holiday to experience Edinburgh by foot and public transportation.

The people in the room next to us were smoking and it came into our room against hotel policy. However, the night manager quickly resolved the issue by upgrading us to a junior suite within minutes and had our stuff moved to avoid our stuff smelling. We really felt taken care of even in the midst of things out of Staff control.

First of all, the location is perfect in the middle of the old town. The hotel itself is very impressive, the staff is amazing and friendly! They really try to go out of their way for their guests. The room was beautiful. However there were 2 negative things. 1. There was no vanity kit present, like no cotton buds/pads or anything like that. For a 5 star hotel, this is something you would expect. They had them at the concierge desk, so all good. We booked a room with castle view, which in hindsight we shouldn’t have done… There is a club downstairs who’s playing music until 3am! Despite the fact that Virgin Hotels really tried to sound isolate it well, the bass goes straight into the rooms.. We were staying Friday and Saturday night and had sleepless nights because of it. We feel sorry for the hotel, because it was gorgeous. But because of the noise situation, we wouldn’t stay there again.
