We always stop overnight at Days Inn Lockerbie on our way to our home in the Scottish Highlands. The room and facilities are excellent particularly after travelling the first 300 miles of our journey.

This hotel is really handy when I’m travelling down south as it’s about half way between where I’m travelling between. I always opt for a lake view because in my opinion that’s what makes it a great location and also the amenities next door with the eateries and shop are really good. The view is gorgeous and I love the addition of the little balcony with chair that’s covered over so I was able to sit out while it was raining. Lovely comfy bed which was clean.
Unfortunately the room (which I’ve stayed in before) is looking a little ‘tired’ and could do with a bit of TLC! Fixtures in the bathroom are worn (staining in the bath and around toilet, taps that don’t turn on properly and no hot water for the shower)The room also smelt a little ‘fusty’ as if someone had previously smoked in it. The TV was a bit temperamental and kept glitching on lots of the channels. It’s a shame there were no plug sockets beside the bed so I couldn’t plug my phone in beside me.

Spacious room, helpful staff, view over the lake
Slight issue to begin with not having the room key (had to use the spare) manager had the key and thought the room was empty, attempting to let herself in the room to show someone round, good job we put the lock on the inside or she may have had a shock 🤦♀️ quickly resolved by other lady on the desk, no apology from manager but hey ho. Also third bed not made up, but lovely lady on reception sorted sheets ect out for us and was going to make the bed up on top of all her other jobs, but I insisted id make the bed up. Can't fault the place really, some areas of the room a little grubby, ( old biscuits wrapper under the bed, tea splashes on the wall in bathroom, but overall, clean enough 👌

Nicer than the average motorway services motel! Well worth paying the extra for a lake view room: the lake is beautiful, peaceful and home to a wide range of birds. There's a path to walk around the lake, or you can enjoy the view from your room or the Costa in the service station area, which is accessed from the hotel via a door in reception. Bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and have lots of storage, individually controlled heating and a reasonable bathroom (but check availability of an accessible room if you find it hard to step into a bath.) Staff are friendly and helpful.
Bathrooms are functional but a bit tired. Food options in the service station area are a bit limited and some seem to close very early.

We had a lakeside room. The view is exceptional. Not sure we would have like to be overlooking the car park. We appreciate a calm view from our window to help us relax after a tiring journey and so we feel refreshed and ready to face the journey ahead in the morning. Loved how you can access the food court from the hotel without having to venture outside.
The large hole in the washbasin plug hole- no metal grid. I was terrified of dropping my ring down the hole. The duvet barely touched the sides of the bed which meant every time one of us turned over the other one had to pull the duvet back. No lift to first floor - not much good for arthritic knees, especially after a long journey.

The staff where brilliant nothing was too much trouble, we decided to turn up a day early booked it when we got there the room I booked was up some stairs with me been disabled I thought that would be a problem but no room got sorted in under 5 minutes and we got to stay in thd room all the time we was there
There was nothing to dislike about the place everything was spot on no dust, bathrooms spotless, rooms well prepared. The building is old but for the price you can not go wrong

Room type and view of the lake was great.
The room we were booked into was great as described above, however the bathroom basin had hot water running in both the hot and cold taps - this was very odd, but the reception staff had no hesitation in giving us another room with the same great facilities. Apparently, there was a plumbing/boiler issue and we appreciate that problems with services may occur from time to time. This did not affect the enjoyment of our stay - thanks to the prompt actions of the staff.

I love the staff here . They are also very friendly. I like having a bath . There is free parking outside. The room is comfortable and clean. I cannot fault it. It's certainly not high end luxury, just a simple room , if you're lucky you can get a lake view. I've stayed a number of times and will continue to return. I live alone and staff always make an effort to natter to you . I really appreciate that extra kind touch . There are a few places to eat in the services, don't do fast food. But, highly I recommend a local truck stop . Proper decent Mum cooked dinner , for a great price . It's immaculately clean too.
I cannot fault the place . There is always a warm welcome . My only gripe is, I filled my car with charity shop finds ! Still haven't unpacked it ( it's a big job) 😂 and at the moment , I don't have room for a tooth pick! . It just sums up, it's a perfect location, for Carlisle, Penrith, I even headed to Hexham . I cannot fault this place. It's mostly peaceful. I had one noise issue, reception swiftly dealt with it. Thank you 🌹

The location was great and ideal stopping off point on journey south from Scotland to England.
The fire alarm went off twice in the morning. It was clearly a problem with the sensitivity of the fire alarms as there are notices on the bathroom doors, stating that the doors must be kept shut. Obviously people did not heed the warning. Even though you know this is probably a false alarm you cannot afford to ignore it and it is still worrying and inconvenient if you are not up and dressed. The alarm carried on for a few minutes so did seem like a genuine alarm so we felt we couldn’t ignore it and quickly got dressed to leave the premises. The second one was shorter and clearly a false alarm.

Fantastic location and beautiful outlook from our hotel room balcony, so relaxing. Housekeeping staff were absolutely fabulous and honestly so very kind, pleasant and extremely helpful towards us. We can’t praise them highly enough, we were made to feel so welcome throughout our extended stay.
Only the shower isn’t to our taste, shower head rather high up and no way to adjust this down/ move it in any way, so water sprays diagonal and a little difficult for a good water pressure on body, however this is a personal preference.
