Such a lovely, big space. Perfect stay for a walking holiday. The Shepherds huts are cute and so cozy! I also love that the cafe is open late (last orders 8:15pm) so it's easy to get food, but even if there's nothing on the menu you fancy you can just get the train into Lewes, a 5 minute ride. Or there's a communal kitchen you can use if you want to cook your own food. The communal spaces are ample and nicely decorated too. The place has a real personality. Even though there was a coach load of kids staying at the same time as us, they went into their dorms after 22:30 and we didn't hear a peep out of them.

Would've been nice to have some more healthy options on the menu in the cafe, but honestly it was still better than my expectations.

I've stayed at this hostel a few times and its just lovely. It has a rural setting but is within a short walk not only of the South Downs but Southease Railway Station, meaning you can safely park your car and take the train into Brighton, etc.. The staff are always polite and efficient and its a great opportunity to unwind in a lovely part of the countryside at a bargain price. Its always scrupulously clean. Yes, there is some road noise due to it being next to a main road, but you can't have everything and earplugs are provided!

Less than 10 mins from the ferry port. Excellent location, very friendly staff. I was a bit concerned as it stated ‘youth hostel’ and I’m far from a youth. OK so I had to share a room but when you’re looking to just get you head down I don’t think you’d ever find anything better for the minuscule price they charge. The breakfast was well worth having the whole experience far exceeded my expectations. Would I use it again, your damn right I would. If travelling on your own I would say it’s unbeatable. Thank you.

It's great value for money and a welcome retreat after a hard days hiking. The food is exactly what you'd expect when you see the menu. Nothing exceptional but decent enough. Beds look horrific but are actually pretty comfy

The internet is awful. Only available in common areas and even then hardly works. If you are expecting a quiet night you wont get it here,.the road noise is crazy loud. They do provide earplugs as its obviously an issue but its relentless all night. I had a few drinks so I was able to sleep. I'd recommend doing this. Having said that I would definitely stay again.

The location is perfect! I love how easy it is to get to the nearest station as well as the walking route to South Down National Park! Cannot be happier for such a lovely destination to have a place to stay!

The reception is horrible. I cannoy connect to wifi in my room and the only place that I can have any form of connection is by the cafe/ restaurant. I would love if there is a map of the area just for anyone who come and have no online map to navigate.

I liked the location & the whole farm thing...

The dorms were tooo squishy. Longroom 1 - 4 I think you should prioritise older ladies to bottom bunks. Getting up & down a ladder was difficult. Trying to sell another single room was silly. Also the light & power didn't work in the middle set of bunks TOP & BOTTOM bunks. Also no toilet paper for some time so we were limited to a toilet. Annoying!

What a beautiful picturesque the hostel is located.Convenient location, barely 600-700 m walk from the train station. YHA always has comfortable beds and clean sheets. The staff is amazing, especially the woman handling the reception in the evening period.She is really sweet.

WiFi is only available in public spaces,so the reception and self catering kitchen gets the network. No monitoring after 10 pm,so teenagers are reckless for a certain period.

The Staff. They set the tone, the atmosphere, the experience. I felt welcomed throughout , by staff who love what Youth Hostels represent and take pride and joy in being part of that legacy of hospitality. And that joy clearly reflects in the cleanliness and presentation of the whole establishment. They clearly work hard, but never rushed any guest interaction. The whole team are a credit to the Association. Thank you 👍

Location is beautiful british countryside, the staff Are super nice and friendly, beds are very comfortable, there is both kitchen and a Common Area where you can Cook your meals versus a little restaurant where you can get served.

The ONLY downside would be the showers, which Is a Tiny walk-in shower, where you Havel barely place to put your things at. And at the time I was here, it did not drain well, so it flooded...

Cute cabins. Quiet. Tranquil. YHA but high end! Lovely staff. Right next to Southease. Great stop over to take you back to your youth. Restaurant on site, though I bought my own food. Excellent self catering kitchen. Lounge inside. Though weather stop on so I sat on the Picnic benches.

All absolutely brilliant. If you don’t like trains, it’s not for you, you can hear the trains rumbling past, but I love that.
