The food was excellent - we very much enjoyed our meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely spa and I had an excellent back massage.

No lift to the bedrooms and no offer of help with luggage - my husband had experienced some heart problems the previous week so that would have been helpful but we managed. Bathroom had a very odd toilet roll holder which didn't hold a toilet roll so we put it on the floor. Some tissues and a shower hat would have been nice - I was surprised they were not offered. Service for our second evening meal was very slow (an hour) the waitresses were doing their best but it would have been good if they had come and explained that there was only one chef and a trainee.

Standing in large grounds, including a woodland habitat for red squirrels (although sadly we didn't manage to see any), Tre-ysgawen is a beautifully maintained/restored 175-year old country house but with all modern amenities. We had a gorgeous, huge four-poster room in the main house, furnished entirely in keeping with the age and style of the house, but with an enormous modern bathroom complete with double-sized bath. Excellent food (I recommend the Welsh lamb chops), and really helpful and friendly service. Great spa with a large pool and fully equipped gym.

No lift to the upper floors but a big shout-out to the multi-talented, multi-tasking Spencer who was happy to run up and down stairs with heavy suitcases while also manning the bar and serving in the restaurant. And as is to be expected with a house of this age, a number of trivial imperfections which generally just served to enhance the ambiance.

The rural setting was lovely and picturesque, the spa was good and not too crowded, and the different rooms like the library were really interesting. The bedroom and bathroom were a really good size too. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Nothing I didn’t like. Just a little discrepancy between the email and staff re using the spa facilities after checkout. The email states we are free to use after checkout and doesn’t stipulate a timeframe of when we would need to vacate, but told by staff on the day that it was only till 12 midday with a charge thereafter.

I love the old building. The staff were really friendly. The room was clean. Loved the pool and sauna.

We went out to visit a friend and came back about midnight and the doors to hotel were locked. No one responded to the bell. Thankfully two men were leaving and let us in. I have no idea what would have happened if they hadnt come. There did not appear to be a night porter. We were not informed of this at check in. We did not eat there, the reviews had been off putting. Also breakfast coukd be found for half the price in tbe towns. Nothing is more than half an hours drive away. Our room was right by tbe clock tower and very annoyingly the vlick chimed loudly ftom 7am to 11pm every half hour. Bizarrely, our bed had a bedside lamp each side but only one side had a socket to plug it in. So the other side was not functional just for show.

Beautiful old building in the process of having a refurb , however the impact on our stay was non existent. The pool and leisure facilities were excellent as was the restaurant and the food . It’s in a pretty remote location which has its pros and cons with the nearest town being about 8 miles away . We did find that to travel anywhere coastal on the island took a maximum of around 30 mins so it is good in that respect . Drinks are a little pricey at the bar at just over £6 for a pint of madri but I suppose it depends what you’re used to. Staff were all excellent and were all too happy to sort out any request given. We would go back maybe some time in the future as we thoroughly enjoyed Anglesey

The staff were very friendly. Very well presented country house hotel. Breakfast and 2 evening meals -very good. Excellent pool and spa.

I had booked a double with terrace through your website however we were given an upstairs room. On querying at reception we were told the hotel was full so we could not move rooms. The receptionist said she would mention it to management but no one got back in touch with us. I would have expected an apology at the least. I don't know if there was any difference in price. I have to say the room was good with a lovely bathroom but not what I had booked.

Property is dated and needs updating. Some rooms have been refurbished which is good. The swimming pool was good and changing rooms. Disabled shower can only be accessed through the men's or ladies changing room which is an issue if support is required. Hotel does not appear to have any walk in showers and no hand rails in shower over bath. Cleaning of rooms could be better. Majority of staff were lovely. Didn't appear to have a manager or senior around.

Old carpets in hallways and some rooms, no hand rails to assist if you have a disability. No independent access to disabled shower in Spa facilities (need to go through men's or female changing rooms. Reception only manned at certain times (you need to use Spa reception or speak to staff). You have to pay upfront nothing can go on to your room bill.

History of the hall.

Hotel staff very welcoming. Bedroom 8 was dusty in parts and the carpet was stained. One of the bedside light bulbs was faulty (bulb replaced). A box of tissues would be an improvement in the bedroom. Windows didn’t lock safely and they were dirty! Standard of drinks tray could have been better in terms of cleanliness and quality of items. Biscuit of 2, was poor! Better selection would be an improvement and welcoming. Spa pool was okay, very dark lit and more lightening would be an improvement. The changing room area was ok, showers were poor, broken hair/soap access. Shower doors very badly worn, need updating/improving. Restaurant very expensive and portions very small.

The historic building & grounds are beautiful. Enjoyed a wander around the grounds. Loved the history of the hall/library room. The spa/pool was quite busy, but lovely for a quick dip. Our massages were wonderful 😊 Food in the restaurant was tasty - the breakfast was especially good. Our room had a nice patio we sat out in, after a long, hot day out.

Our room (especially the mouldy bathroom), could do with an update, or at least a good deep clean. The bed was a good size, but the pillows were solid/ uncomfortable (I am quite fussy, though 😂) The outside patio needs a clean up too.

We booked this for emergency stay in booking.com and were amazed at our room 6 accommodations. Though be careful for searching in gps since there is a low income housing named place that we accidentally loaded for directions. The grounds are beautiful and worth exploring for a couple days. We loved it so much that we added another stay on the back end of our trip to Wales. There is also a lovely spa that is onsite to enjoy. I left my favorite coat in the room and staff called me as they were cleaning when they found it. Not many places would reach out. They then shipped it to me at our next location arriving just 2 days later. They were exceptional with making sure I got my item back.

There is some signs of wear and age to the property, but work is being done to continue to improve the property. Sometimes the front desk is not covered and you need to go to the spa for check in or out, not a big deal. I guess the biggest issue is that there is no elevators and so the property would be challenging for a person with mobility issues.
