Great Location Efficient and Helpful Staff Good size room Quick Checkin and out Free parking Good views from the room Good tourist spots nearby

A big negative is very cheap mattress, all my family ended up with backache Breakfast are served 7.30-9.30, if one enters at 9am and there isn't much available then staff won't refill any item, whcih was very disappointing. Checkout at 10am, whic is too early. Big Keys for door entry/lock poor dooring locking system, a child could easily open and run outside No complimentry water bottles were offered

The Room was clean and it had a kettle, and coffee and tea, milk, sugar and some biscuits. Fresh towels were also provided although we took our own. the bathroom had a bath and over head shower. Breakfast comprised of full english breakfast or you could have cereal, fresh pastries, yoghurts and fresh fruit were also available. With the cooked breakfast they only served scrambled eggs but you could order poached or fried if you wanted. Dinner, you can choose from a Menu which is also in your room so you can make a decision before you go to the restaurant. The staff were very professional & friendly and would help you whenever you needed assistance or advice.

Its location is wonderful, Historical building with beautiful views Quiet & convenient. Great breakfast ! Rooms comfortable, beds very comfy. Linen crisp Wonderful staff , reception, housekeeping & catering staff are all professional, kind, polite & extremely helpful. Their customer service skills are akin to, if not better than 5 star hotels I have stayed at. Have stayed several times always my first choice of accommodation. Will always return here when I visit Bangor

Just a few recommendations; Upgraded TV options would be great please !! When you’ve had a busy, active day & would like to relax a larger screen & smart options would top off a great hotel stay !

The staff were really helpful assigning us a disability parking space, room was clean with a great shower,

The times for breakfast felt very early, when on a break we don’t really want to get up so early, we didn’t even stay for breakfast the second and final day as we slept in a little, there was still an hour left to get breakfast but the dining room was full, we waited about outside the door for a good 15-20 mins but there wasn’t a table free and the staff kept looking at us, eventually we decided to go and had breakfast elsewhere, personally if they extended breakfast a little longer they should be at least a few empty tables,

The historical building stands out in front of Bangor University. It was built in 1884 , originally was students’ accommodation. Bar 1884 has a lawn facing the waterside, a great place to chill and enjoy the grand view. The Breakfast room has the best arrangement with all the hot and continental self service choices. Any seat looks out onto the lawn with the waterside view. The staff are super helpful and will assist you with your plan at Bangor. A short walk to the front pier to get a fish n chips or seafood Italian restaurant is a plus watching sunset.

Finding your room between the crossover levels can be challenging the first time. Following the bar 1884 sign as your parameter helps to navigate to a back the room.

This is a really special place. Relaxed, quiet, comfortable, atmospheric. You can come and go as you wish, with no fuss. The staff are delightful - pleasant souls who all went the extra mile for us, in an old-school calm and charming way. They made huge effort to provide extra gluten-free options for my dinner and breakfast (I'm coeliac) which I hadn't expected but very much appreciated. It all felt very natural and authentic, in such a beautiful old building, with views of the sea and surrounded by Bangor University's cluster of impressive arts buildings. We were staying for work, but this is so well-located for all the key places to visit. I'm completely delighted that we chose to stay here, and we would do so again without hesitation. It's like going back in time a few years, in the best possible way (but with a great modern shower and plenty of plug sockets!). Thank you to everyone for making our visit so enjoyable.

Everything was good.

Located near the university, easy walk to seaside & pier and local sights. Daily breakfast included. Charming old building. Friendly staff.

Breakfast was good but could use a little variety from the same offerings everyday... like pancakes, waffles or omelettes. The buildings layout is quirky and confusing getting around. Luggage storage was not safe or secure, just left under a desk in the open main reception area. We came back to find our bag laying down on the floor, not as we had left it. A small fridge in room would be handy.

Friendly welcome, Parking out the front is limited so you can go out the front entrance turn left and left again there is a lot more parking and a rear entrance to the Building. Its a bit of a maze and has lots of stairs so if you have mobility issues you need to let them know when you book as there are some rooms on the ground floor and a lift. how4ever there are steps to rooms from the lift on the second & third floors. Breakfast is served in the 1884 Restaurant which also does great evening meals . the restaurant has lovely views of the menai strait. It has a good selection of Hot and cold meals and evening meals there is a good choice of mains for most tastes though it does not change if you are staying longer than a few days. There are also vending machines for drinks and snacks, all the facilities are card only no cash.

The point I made earlier about the restaurant and bar is that it is all Card only I think for smaller items I still prefer to use cash but that me. Parking is limited at the entrance but plenty can be found at the rear of the building. It is a bit of a maze but the rooms are fine for a short stay.

The room was quiet, and the bathroom was very clean. The dining facilities were nice.

Parking was difficult. I had to move my car from the parking area by the automatic doors uphill to the car park. To enter the car park going uphill is a 45 degree turn. My rental SUV was unable to negotiate this and hit the low stone wall to the left of the car park entrance. I wish I had been warned by staff to go past the entrance and come back in the correct direction so I could have entered the car park safely. When I brought the issue up with the front desk staff the following morning, her response was "I've sent loads of people up the hill to the car park and no one's ever had any trouble before." Also please have signage for the lift to Reception. I wasn't even aware it was there until I checked out and was told about it by the dining room staff.
