The friendliness of the staff and landlord Ben. We were treated like old friends and nothing was too much trouble. The location is very beautiful, peaceful and easy to access whilst being a great base for lots of local sight-seeing. The food was of a very high standard with the cooked breakfast being one of the best I've ever had! Decor of all areas was clean, fresh and modern and the rooms are very comfortable. Special shout-out to Sophie who took great care of us all and everyone else who made our birthday boy feel very special.

I honestly cannot think of a single thing. We were a group of 10 and everyone feels the same.

The hotel was lovely and clean and the receptionist imparticular, chloe, she was great and couldn't do enough for us. The food ay the restaurant was amazing also. It was a perfect location for zip world.

Its in the middle of nowhere you cant just go to a shop or for a stroll as there is nothing around. There was bubble gum stuck on the tv remote over buttons and the tea/coffee ect hadn't been topped up so we had to pay £6 for a tea and a coffee in the morning. The mattress was solid which is fine if you like that and our room was right next to the train track which kept us up as it was so loud when it went past. The receptionist staff also serve in the kitchen so if you have an issue or need to check out ect you have to wait until they are free to do so and if they cant get to you for a while you'll be kept waiting. It seems very stressful for them.

Group of 6 of us and all agreed we really enjoyed our stay. Well appointed, comfy seating in reception, well stocked bar and food was amazing. Rooms were clean and comfortable, decorated well with plenty of drawers/wardrobe. Bathroom was spacious with a big shower, lovely soft towels.Tea/coffee and toiletries provided . Staff all very friendly , great service. Bus stop 5 mins away, bus service very good. Area is so peaceful but The Slate is busy with guests and locals great atmosphere 👌 5 miles from zipworld.

Wouldn't say it bothered us really, but no local shop or other pubs in area. Nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town that are easily accessible by bus or car.

The location was absolutely gorgeous, it was incredibly quiet and serene. It would be a lovely place to go walking. We didn't have a chance as we already had some different experiences booked. We went to the Zip World Adventure Centre and The Slate was the perfect distance. The food at the restaurant was outstanding, it came quickly and tasted amazing. The breakfast the next morning had a great range of choice, and was incredibly high quality. The bar had a good selection of liquors and the staff were incredibly friendly. It had a real family vibe which was lovely. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, I normally struggle but no such problem here. The bathroom had a rainfall shower which my partner was incredibly excited about. It had good pressure and the towels provided were lovely and soft.

There was limited parking but we didn't have to wait long until a car left so wasn't a massive deal.

We had a lovely stay at The Slate. We were welcomed in a friendly and helpful manner, which made us feel comfortable right away. The hotel is nicely situated and is a great starting point for walks in the surrounding area. Bangor is easy to reach by bus or via a scenic footpath. Our room was comfortable, with a good bed and a nice bathroom with a pleasant shower. The hotel also offers convenient options for food and drinks. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay for one night due to travel plans, but we would gladly return for a longer visit. A very nice place to stay.

Ideal, quiet, residential location for exploring surrounding area, with ample off road parking space. Cosy clean accommodation with very friendly, helpful staff. There was a relaxed, friendly attitude in the public areas. The cooked breakfast was huge and tasty.

The water temperature often ran far too hot during showering without adjusting the temperature. Maybe affected by users elsewhere in the building? We didn't eat there in the evening as read that portion sizes were big, which didn't suit our appetites.

Jill and her team were so lovely and welcoming! very friendly and attentive. the restaurant food was A-ma-zing!!! Breakfast was also brilliant. The bar was lovely with a great atmosphere where locals and guests enjoyed Friday evening together. we travelled a very long way (4.5hours) for a wedding to stay here and if we came again, we would defo stay here! stunning part of the world!! (bring your big coat though).

Given everything else was so good, these are minor... the towels are on the tiny side so I would've liked bigger ones, and the shower did tend to fluctuate in temperature which wasn't very relaxing, albeit not unmanageable.

Welcome and service was friendly and efficient. Food quality very good indeed - much locally sourced - as was the local draft real ale. Room was clean and everything worked well. Bed was comfortable.

The room needed a bit of an update and certainly needed a desk & chair. The room was small, but there was room as there was both a large chest of drawers and a hanging cupboard - as I imagine most stays are only for a day or two this space could have been better utilised. TV was a bit old and the WiFi was adequate, but only just. As I was there for work, I found these things a bit limiting. Wasn't very keen about having to choose breakfast on booking in, but I understand why, given their limited staffing.

There was plenty of free parking and a bus stop nearby, so there was no need to drive into the centre of Bangor. There is bar and restaurant attached and while I didn't actually use them, it was nice to have the option.

No Aircon so the room was a little warmer than it could have been, but a fan was provided. Sadly Bangor is not really walkable from here, but there is a bus stop nearby. Slamming doors but can't really blame the hotel on the poor etiquette of its guests.

Very comfortable bed (I’ve long term injuries to my back). Staff are brilliant, from the moment I arrived to departure. For me they have the perfect balance, checking you have everything you need from them in a pleasant, relaxed manner. I had the breakfast each morning and it was delicious, so I had the full Welsh everyday. A help yourself table with juice and cereal etc… My son and his girlfriend joined me at the restaurant for an evening meal. Although a reduced menu due to it being homemade curry night, we all received perfectly cooked meals. One opted for curry and two had meals off the menu. All of us said our meals were delicious.

The weather wasn’t too good. I had one day were I could enjoy sitting outside at one of the numerous picnic tables they have available. I’m unable to comment on the bar and lounge, as I’m not a drinker, I didn’t use it. However, it looked like a pleasant place as I passed by and I’m sure the staff’s approach would make it a nice place to sit, with a drink.
