The location of Passfield Hall is one of the main attractions - it is close to the British Library, British Museum, Tottenham Court Road, underground stations etc - and of course, it is located in Bloomsbury. It is primarily a residential building for LSE students - so that is the kind of "hostel" style accommodation to expect - but it suits me and provides good value. The breakfast is provided in the "canteen" - but it is really very good and you are likely to meet people visiting from all over the world. There are also decent kitchen facilities you can use yourself on each floor. The showers etc are basic but ok. I have stayed at Passfield Hall on several trips and would do so again.

Passfield Hall is primarily a student accommodation building for the LSE - so you have to adjust your expectations accordingly. That said, it is beginning to look a little run down - particularly in the hallways, and to some degree in the rooms - I'm mainly thinking about the carpets. There also seem to be a few more bathroom facilities "out of order" on each trip. A personal bugbear is the ever later check in time - currently 3.00 pm . This isn't limited to Passfield Hall, and at least they do provide a luggage storage room, but you are really only getting half a day's accommodation with such a late check in and the trend seems to be going to later and later check in times, and the need in other cases to arrange luggage storage.

We were looking for a simple and affordable place to stay for our family of 4, and we surely found it at LSE. It provided the basics we needed for our visit to London - a comfy bed, hot shower and nice breakfast. The location was most important for us, and that was spot on - 5 min walk from Euston Station and 10 min walk from Russell Square metro and the St Pancras Kings Cross station. There are loads of places in the neighborhood to eat out and just a 20 minute walk from St Regents Park. Most of the people that work there were super friendly and helpful!

A gluten-free bread would be nice at breakfast.

Cleanness (kitchen area and shared bathroom). Location. EXCELLENT breakfast. Comfortable bed. Linen service (towels + soap + shampoo). Spacious room with a high ceiling + a lot of natural sunlight. Well-equipped kitchen. Clean laundry room (washing + dry) with a digitalized payment system; easy to follow. Very nice and calm neighborhood with cafes + restaurants + small grocery stores; easy access to Russel Square station + bus lines. Excellent work by the housekeeping team! I must emphasize here that the kitchen area was spotless everyday!! Good job!

Although the experience at the LSE Passefield Hall was excellent, there was one thing that caused us a problem. It is about the renovation work. I would have greatly appreciated it if they had been transparent about it prior to the booking. Otherwise, I would not have taken the reservation. The noise associated with the work is entirely understandable; we saw the small courtesy notes on the work + noise issues in the premises. Yet, it was unexpected to be woken by noise early in the morning throughout our stay. Just a simple gesture of transparency would have been appreciated.

This is a very affordable room for Central London, especially for being just a ten minute walk from The British Museum, Russell Square, and Euston Station. The area is quiet and well-shaded with little traffic. The room is simple yet comfortable, and the breakfast downstairs each morning was very generous. The staff were very nice, and the building is both secure and easy to access at all hours of the day.

The bathrooms are shared, meaning that every section of hallway (about a half dozen rooms) had a public facility with showers and toilet rooms; this area could get a little stinky at times. The layout of the building can be a bit confusing initially, and there's no lift service to the third floor.

Our room was clean and comfortable. I had had my misgivings about sharing a bathroom and toilet, but both were kept clean and there were no problems. We had a fridge and fans in the room. The location was perfect for us as we went to the theatre the two nights we were there and it was so convenient and easy to get to the theatre area by foot. It was easy to find from Kings Cross station and was not far. The breakfast was excellent, a proper student canteen set-up with hot food, pastries, savoury food available with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. A coffee machine plus filter coffee and a big bonus point, which I have never encountered in any place I've stayed, is they had coffee syrups to add to your coffee.Amazing! Staff were friendly, check in was easy and security was good.

Not a problem for us but as our room was not in the main building and was on the fourth floor, under the roof ,it's worth mentioning that there's no lift which some people may struggle with plus if you're tall you may find the sloping ceiling a bit of an annoyance. The curtains in the room had seen better days and the window frame could have had a clean but that didn't affect our stay.

Quiet area, nice street near a small park. Breakfast was really good. Lots of choice and well cooked. Room and bathroom were clean though very basic. Very much student accommodation. My bed was comfortable. The accommodation is very secure. Good value for money and perfect for a one night stay.

Staff seemed a bit disinterested. The rooms need new carpets and curtains. I know these are student accommodation rooms, but even as a student I would be thinking this needs a complete overhaul. Or at least redecorating. We shared a bathroom with 2 other rooms. This wasn't a problem. However our room door was so creaky that when one of us got up in the middle of the night to go and use the bathroom which was off the landing, the noise of opening the door woke the other one up. Not a massive problem but irritating all the same. Lots of quite narrow stairs up to our 3rd floor room. Ok for us but avoid if disabled or have large bags.

Easily walkable from Euston, also handy for the Piccadilly line at Russell Square. 24 hour reception, so no problem about check in. I indicated that I walk with a stick, and they put me on the ground floor, which was helpful. I asked for a quiet room, so they put me at the end of a corridor, furthest from reception, looking out on a quiet street near Tavistock square. No en suite, but there was a washbasin. Towels and toiletries provided, and use of a kitchen, with free tea and coffee. Everything clean and comfortable. There's a Wetherspoons nearby, so cheap food and drink, but the star of the show was the included full English breakfast. They cater for all appetites, especially large ones! This made it good value for money for central London in August. They also have a luggage room, so you can call back in the afternoon before going back to the station. I look forward to staying again, for the same price.

No en suite, but you couldn't expect that in student accommodation.

The room was small and basic but satisfactory for my needs. There are also a common kitchen, lounge, computer room and laundromat available although I had to find this out on my own. Common washrooms are clean and bright. The breakfast is the big attraction, with a wide choice of hot and cold foods including pastries, fresh fruit, bacon and eggs, etc etc and designer coffees! This, apart from the price, is the main reason I chose to stay at an LSE location again. Actually, the location itself is pretty good as there are many train stations and Underground stations in the general vicinity, plus the 91 bus which stops about a 3 minute walk away, and the 14 bus which goes from Russell Square to the National Gallery.

Check-in is 3 pm and check-out 10:30 am which is a little less convenient than most hotels. Also, my stay was in 2 segments and I wasn't able to store any luggage overnight which was quite an inconvenience. However, I eventually found paid overnight luggage storage close by.

The Halls are just a short stroll away from Russell Square and Euston Stations. All airport are therewith easily reachable. Even though centrally located, the street is quiet. This is a 3 Storey building, with lift access to the lower two floors. The reception is manned 24/7. The staff is very polite and has been very helpful. The access to the facilities/room is via key card. The shared facilities are clean and well maintained. In the room is a sink, and a piece of soap. A sample size shampoo/ shower gel are complimentary. Linen and towels are provided. Breakfast is included, and a good variety is available. The breakfast room is located at the lower floor of the main building. There is a lovely garden and in one of the annexes, there is laundry room with new washers/dryers and an ironing board, which operated 24/7. The wash can be paid for with credit card. In walking distance of the halls are a few supermarkets, a variety of pubs and restaurants.

One has to be aware that this is a dorm. Although much better maintained than most other halls, the space in the room is restricted. Never leave the room without the access key, otherwise you are locked out.
