I was looking for a place to spend a night on my way south from Scotland to the channel crossing, and came across The Grange House B&B not far from Nottingham. I didn't know it at the time I booked it, but I would be left so impressed with my first stay, I booked it again for my return journey and I think that says it all! My room was beautifully decorated, immaculate, and was stocked with cold bottled water, tea, coffee and biscuits on my arrival. The bed was super comfortable and felt like home, the minute I climbed into it. The guest house is set at the end of a very quiet, dead-end road, overlooking pastural land. So it's a lovely quiet area with no thoroughfare. You can easily walk to Lowdham village centre from Grange House in about 25-30 minutes (where there are a few small shops, a Co-op and a great pub for a meal or a drink!). There's also a pretty, wooded nature reserve you can take a walk through, just 5 minutes from the guest house. My breakfast was superb, starting out with fresh fruit (and juice), yogurt and a wide choice of cereals and toast, followed by a beautifully cooked and piping hot full-English that will see you right through the day (I'd say one of the best I've had)! The quality of the room and the breakfast was only exceeded by the graciousness and generosity of my wonderful hosts - Kevin and Anne-Marie. A more lovely and welcoming couple you would be hard pressed to find, and my time with them was the unexpected highlight of my trip! They did absolutely everything they could to make my stay a wonderful experience from start to finish. My return visit (on my way home) was every bit as fantastic as my first stay and I will absolutely stay here again at the next opportunity. In summary, this is just one of those rare gems of a B&B that will make you really pleased you came across it!

Fantastic B&B with brilliant hosts and an excellent breakfast to start your day with. Location is in a very quiet area with nice views.

Nothing at all that would certainly put me off booking this accommodation again - a smart TV would be ideal if you want to catch up on programmes via an app like BBC i-Player but the TV provided is more than adequate with all your freeview channels available to watch and I should add that the owner already has this matter on his radar anyway to upgrade the TV's in the individual bedrooms at some point in the future.

The location is away from hustle bustle of the town but not too far from the main road. It is rural and quiet. Kevin gave excellent communication about finding the house and greeted us with a warm welcome. Ensuring we had everything we needed, including tea/coffee and some scrummy biscuits on the complimentary tray in our room. The room was cosy and comfy with ensuite bathroom, nicely decorated and warm (we were visiting in a Dec Storm). We had a super choice for breakfast which we ordered on arrival for the morning, timing to suit us and how we liked our eggs! we were given a key to be able to come and go as we pleased. The bed was comfy and shower perfect. We went to breakfast, which was impressive, probably the best full English I have has for some time. Nothing was too much trouble, both Kevin and Ann-Marie are super hosts, respectful of our space but we felt welcome and comfortable. Thank you!

The was nothing I didn't like, as I was going out for a work party, it would have been useful to have a full length mirror either in the room or on the landing, you know what us girls are like! A bigger mirror in the room would have been good for me too.

The location was wonderfull! A nice and peacefull road with absolute silence and tranquility. The hosts are the most friendly and kind people you will ever meet in your life, they make sure you are confertable and the rooms reflect that with a nice soft and comfy bed. The rooms where very clean and fresh and the breakfest, dont get me startet this was by far the best english home made breakfest i ever had. The excellent welcome from Kevin, with advance directions by email and help by 'phone on the day. Kevin and Ann-Marie's clear desire to ensure that everything that they could do to make my stay a good one, was done. The immaculate decorative condition of the property. Fresh fruit bowl at breakfast, with a good cooked meal and the usual cereals and ready supply of toast. Without prompting, Kevin researched arrangements for parking at Trent Bridge and provided directions to get there.

Room with a view and a comfortable bed. Lovely view across the Green and the surrounding country, up a quiet road outside a quiet village. Hosts couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, way above the norm. Excellent breakfast. Will definitely stay again.

I could have used a smaller bed, making more space in the room, perhaps for a chair to watch TV. (But that would mean sacrificing a double room, I do understand). Minor quibble.

This is not Hospitality with a capital "H" but HOSPITALITY in full capitals (apologies for the screaming). This is an excellent location with an EXCELLENT host. Before arrival we received multiple message with guidance and following the directions we drove up and parked in front w/o issues. Our dog loved it, and they loved our dog. We got some instructions for dinner in the nearby pub which is within walking distance. Very clean spacious room with a view, good shower and fabulous breakfast. Everything reasonable is done to make you feel at home, and then some. Kevin cooks a great breakfast.

We made the mistake of booking only for 1 night. It would have been great to relax here for 2 or maybe even 3 days. We bookmarked the details and Grange House B&B will be on the shortlist if planning permits.

Kevin went the extra mile for me and I could not have wanted for any more. Great to stop in a proper B&B where the proprietor takes so much pride in their home and business, making sure the guest is comfortable no matter what. Chain accommodation have their place in the travel industry and most are very good at what they do but once you experience a great B&B there in no comparison, well done Kevin your efforts were very much appreciated, thanks Kevin

Leaving

When we booked, we added a dietary needs in the comments section along with an idea of time of arrival. A few days before we arrived, the owners contacted us to confirm our dietary needs for breakfast & tea & coffee in our room & if anything had changed. Good information about places to eat close by, with information about the type of meal we were looking for :- pub grub - fine dining & which places offered these. From our point of view the owners couldn't do anymore to make our stay welcoming & relaxing. The photo added is the view from our room over the field at the front of the B&B.

We had an excellent night's sleep at Grange House and really enjoyed our breakfast. Our host was very friendly and helpful and helped us to find Grange House. All in all, it was a great stopover on the way home from Scot;and.

Our host is aware that not everyone likes an overhead shower. Also, make sure you have detailed instructions to locate the property!
