My son and enjoyed a 1 night stay at the Mercure Perth on Monday 28th Aug 25. As many reviews have mentioned the rooms and hotel are a little dated, however, if you like old worldly charm then it certainly ticks that box. The hotel is a historic building and many of the original features remain. Personally, I like that. It's warm and welcoming unlike some of the more modern hotels. I've stayed in this hotel over 20 years ago and not much has changed. People saying the carpets were threadbare, I never saw that. Our welcome when we arrived by the reception manager was first class. Our welcome by the breakfast team (even when we turned up 10 mins before they finished serving (sorry)) was also excellent. We didn't use the bar other than to pick up a couple of bottles of water but I couldn't help noticing how spotless it was. Certainly a lovely area to sit and have a drink or two. The room was a twin on the second floor. It was very clean and well presented. Yes, it wasn't modern but I prioritised the location over the decor. The price was cheap for being a close walk into the city. I'd happily stay again. Breakfast was great. All the usual hot items, cereals, pastries, jams, bread/toast, juice, tea and coffee. Checkout was straightforward too, thanks Cynthia. Car parking in the paid car park next door is free from 6pm to 8am. Very reasonable rates if you cannot get parked out front of the hotel. All in all, happy with our stay and will probably be back at some point. Thanks all.

Nothing.

Very well located accommodation, the city center is about 5 to 10 minutes walk away, depending on the physical condition of the walker. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel stands out for its specific atmosphere, benefiting from the original purpose of the building as a water mill. This motif is sensitively incorporated into the interior of the building, so in the reception room you can admire the flowing water through the glass in the floor. I really appreciated the garden view from my room and the quiet at night.

The Caesar salad that I had for dinner in the hotel bar was overpriced and not very tasty. On the other hand, the breakfast served in the hotel dining room in the morning was very rich and tasty. Relatively small number of parking spaces, but there was a free space available anyway.

The staff were absolutely lovely. Friendly, helpful and professional. Nothing was too much trouble from check in to check out. Full praise for all of them. The location was very good and I liked the way they highlighted the mill race and water wheel. At breakfast there was a good range of both hot and cold.

The room was clean enough but was very tired. The bed was not that comfortable but just OK. The only chair was a dining chair, which was not the most comfortable, leaving only the bed to sit on. The bathroom also needs to be updated to include a decent shower. Somewhere to put a suitcase would be a welcome addition. As a privilege room I expected a little more.

This hotel is a cracking wee place right in the heart of the town. We have stayed here before and enjoyed our time here. The staff are always on hand to help you with any problems that may arise and to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. I love the elements of the water wheel, which is still visible in the hotel, and the cosiness of its rooms and restaurants, giving this place a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We did have a few wee hiccups this time around when we checked in. Our room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned, dirty towels in the bath, bedroom stank of stale sweat, and the bed hadn't been made properly. We went straight back to reception, and Maya, your receptionist, was quickly on hand to investigate our room, which she took photographs of and was very apologetic at the condition of our bedroom. She moved us to another room without any delay, she also gave us complimentary drinks and dinner because of the inconvenience. Nothing was too much trouble for her, and she should be commended on her performance and customer service skills, which were exemplary. She is a real asset to your hotel.

The location of the hotel was central. The room was a good size and the bathroom was clean. The breakfast was good. We had an evening meal and it was also good. The hotel has interesting history and a mill wheel inside.

We walked from the station and it meant dragging cases over cobbled stones. We recommend getting a taxi even though it is not far from the station. The cushions in the room were dirty. We were only staying for one night. I told reception when we left. They apologized and assured me they would have them cleaned.

EXCELLENT LOCATION FOR TRAVELLING BACK AND FORTH FROM THE PERTH HOSPITAL, THE BUS STOP WAS ONLY 300 YARDS FROM THE HOTEL. GREAT FOR MY DISABLED FATHER, BUSES WERE EVERY FIFTEEN MINUTES, A NUMBER 1 UP AND THE NUMBER 2 BACK TO THE HOTEL

DECOR A LITTLE TIRED, HOWEVER IT WAS ALL CLEAN AND THE STAFF WERE ALL VERY HELPFULL, MAKING SURE MY PARENTS HAD A ROOM ON THE GROUND FLOOR AND THEY ORGANISED A TAXI TO THE HOSPITAL ON THE DAY OF MY MOTHERS OPERATION. I HAD ORIGINALLY BOOKED FOR 4 NIGHTS BUT MY MOTHER GOT OUT OF HOSPITAL A DAY EARLY AND THEY VERY KINDLY ONLY CHARGED FOR THE THREE NIGHTS.

Staff friendly and smiley. Liked the original features of the workings of the old mill. Interesting to see the water rushing through - seen from the glass covered holes in the floor at reception! Breakfast was fine. Cereals, fresh melon and pineapple, berries, yoghurts. Cold meats and cheeses, pastries and the usual on the hot buffet. Vegan sausages were available but no "alternative" milks. Good central location with on-site parking.

Room, bathroom and public areas and carpets were a bit dated. All looked just a bit tired, in need of a refresh. A bit of outside noise at night due to there being single glazed windows but the building is probably listed or at least in a conservation area so understandable. Didn't stop us from sleeping.

The room was lovely. Some people must be very fussy as going by previous reviews thought the rooms were going to be run down but furniture was lovely, bed very comfy and bathroom very functional. Beautiful Historic listed building. The staff are all very lovely and the location is great. Car was parked up for the weekend as everything handy. Breakfast was great. Had lots of choice.

The restaurant is upstairs. We didn't ask if there was an accessible route as I use a walking stick most of the time but quite a few stairs to it.

Outstanding stay with some of the friendliest staff I've ever encountered at a hotel (particularly a chain). Shout out to Kelly, Steph and Jaraslava. I know the official hotel / QR code feedback is through Google but I hope their manager reads this here (I didn't want to use Google as I couldn't remain anonymous). Right from when I entered the hotel after a long journey it felt welcoming with the bar on the left and reception on the right. Loved the history behind it being an old mill - there were references throughout the hotel. It's in a great position for the town too and only 10 minutes walk from the railway station. Breakfast was great - lots of choice including haggis and tatties which was a nice surprise. The room was very clean indeed with a cosy vibe - I was very relaxed and comfortable. I asked for a higher room with a view and it had a lovely outlook over to the St Paul's Church, now renovated as an open air arts centre. Thank you - I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if I come back to Perth.

Yes, it is in an older style and theoretically could use renovation - but it was very clean indeed and I liked the simplicity in the room (especially the foot operated lamp!). The only thing I had to juggle was charging phone/ipad with kettle and hairdryer, there's really only the one socket and nothing by the bed. But I didn't mind because everything else was so great.

Fresh sweet fruit. Hot breakfast cooked in healthy low fat way. Comfortable beds, thick pillows, every room had iron & ironing with board. Room service available. Telephone for internal & external calls.

No disabled entrance ramp. No disabled lift from ground to floor 2. NONE OF STAFF TOLD ME ABOUT THE STAIR LIFT FROM GROUND TO FIRST FLOOR at the side of reception. Bar expensive. But open until 3am . At breakfast lemon & lime infused water available. Well informed staff. Helpful porters and receptionist due to my disability in carrying my luggage to my room & when I extended my stay in transfering to the new room.
