Clean, tidy, modern. Comfortable beds.

Non-refundable charge of £55 for dogs. Never had to pay for my dog to stay in a hotel.

Loved the fact that you provided a gluten free choc muffin and a honey bun cake with my gluten free toast at breakfast and provided gluten free cereal too. I have had the toast and cereal option at other hotels but never the sweet treats. It was such a nice touch and made me feel like I wasn't missing out because I couldn't have the pastries.

Only one hot drinks machine at breakfast, so if it broke or needed refilling, it meant that there was only filtered coffee available. Maybe a separate urn with hot water would be a good idea so that those who wanted it could still make a tea or hot chocolate. Also, I didn't like that our room window overlooked the bar/restaurant inside the building, this meant that for privacy the net curtains generally had to stay shut and there was no natural daylight to the room, leaving it very dark.

My husband enjoyed the breakfast very much a very good selection.

I am Coeliac I noticed that the jam was in pots at breakfast and no individual pots/packs, this risked high cross contamination possibilities. The breakfast cereal choice was only G.F. cornflakes which was a little disappointing although the waitresses did offer me gluten free toast from the kitchen which was much appreciated but I couldn't have any jam with the toast. There were 2 proms at your venue which we were not made aware of, there was a tremendous amount of shouting and screaming during both our evening meals which was not ideal.

The hotel, location and room was all good, all as expected

Evening: When we came back from a meal out (about 9:30pm) we asked about having a coffee in the bar. We were told, "Yes, that should be okay if they haven't turned the machine off". Wrong answer. We did get a coffee so no actual problem. Breakfast next morning: Not good. Some sort of technical problem prevented fried eggs, omelettes, etc but on top of that tables weren't ready, there was no sausages, no hash browns, no milk in the coffee machine. Sure its a Bank Holiday Monday in August and its busy but the date has been on the calendar all year and you can see the bookings. Get the supplies and staff in to meet demand. Overall: Very poor.

We were there because we had an early crossing on the boat in the morning so it was perfect for that as the hotel had parking and was a short drive to the port. The hotel rooms were nicer than I expected, very modern and clean and a very good size. Hotel was what you would expect from an airport style hotel and we had a very comfortable stay there.

I tried asking for recommendations for the centre and the receptionist didn’t really understand me. We ended up just heading to the marina which is basically a shopping centre with some chain bars and restaurants, definitely not worth the taxi fare there and back. Maybe that’s all Portsmouth has to offer I don’t know.

Staff really lovely and efficient. Room was a good size. Toiletries supplied were good quality. Parking was easy and plentiful. Nice touch leaving water in the fridge. Shower was great. Beds comfortable. Gym good size and good equipment.

Our room looked out over the bar area so there was no natual daylight which I didnt like. The swimming pool is empty and as we could see it from the room it was a bit odd and gave a tired and not cared for vibe which was at odds with the rest of the hotel which was great. The seating in the bar area was uncomfortable and not very relaxing. Need more soft areas, sofas etc.

The room was superb. Absolutely spotless, everything in perfect working order. Not a single sign of neglect and everything worked. I stay in a lot of hotels for work and leisure and have paid a lot more money for a lot lot less. I always assume it’s the standards and budgets of the hotel brands. I expected this experience to be bad and went I with a low expectation but from the first moment I stepped into the hotel I felt shocked. Super friendly, smiling and genuinely happy to see my reception staff. Room that was spotless and had a wonderful smart tv, coffee maker that didn’t look like it had been dragged out of a cupboard from 10 years ago. Bar staff and food. Service was excellent. I mean it punches above its weight in terms of service. I will be going back. I didn’t feel stressed, I didn’t feel angry and I don’t want a refund! I’m so happy and a big thank you!

Scrambled eggs. I know they are thinking about calories and costs but when you stay in a hotel and you choose to have eggs you want the best, buttery eggs ever. Please give us the option to have high calories, creamy scrambled eggs (I’d pay extra for them ) the rest of the breakfast was absolutely delicious.

Rooms were spacious and spotless. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, beautiful bedding too. Great to have a fridge in the room, which was really efficient. I also loved that we had a bath - a real treat! Staff were lovely and helpful, and the whole place has a nice relaxed feel about it, whilst also giving an upmarket experience.

Our only niggle was that the restaurant was chilly. Had to swap short sleeves for long, and there were a few people dining that didn't take their coats off. It's just down to the design I think - warehouse style, and very high ceilings. Food was excellent though

I love that the Marriott is always such a peaceful property to stay in. Reception staff are always and the entrance is always inviting. Despite booking standard rooms they are always spacious, clean and comfortable. Fab sleep due to the black out curtains also!

Bar staff were extremely slow. Painfully slow actually! I think someone might have been new as I had to explain raspberry gin a couple of times… Was told I couldn’t get rose prosecco by the glass, only normal prosecco… There’s never anyone completely there, a lot of the time there would be no one behind the bar at all. It then becomes crowded and you’re waiting for ages with people jumping the queue. It needs better management. Parking used to be free of charge for hotel guests, however it is now £5 per night. I don’t agree with such steep parking charges when you are already paying to stay at the venue overnight.

Access off the motorway and also into the city centre. Parking was £5 overnight which isn’t too bad compared to some other hotels charge. We had a deluxe room which was a good size with two double beds. Breakfast was also decent, facilities were clean and staff were friendly. There was free WiFi access as complimentary.

The bath was on the small side and the art work in the bedroom isn’t to everyone’s taste. A more neutral art would look more appealing to a wider audience.
