The hotel is in a wonderful location and the public spaces have been renovated to a good standard. The staff could not have been more accomodating and friendly. The service was brilliant. The buffet breakfast was great We loved that we could walk to the cleveland way and cinder path from the hotel, and didn't need to use the car over the weekend.

My room was clean and spacious, but dated. It was overpriced but as the hotel is pivoting to focus more on weddings, they have a captive audience, because of the location. The evening food was a bit hit and miss. We found the food was actually better on the day when there was a wedding on (we weren't part of the wedding party). On the other evening when there were more guests in the restuarant, the food wasn't as good, but still OK. The wine is very expensive! And its a real shame that the wonderful gardens/views are off limits when theres a wedding on. Hopefully as they continue to renovate/improve the facilities they'll sort that out and create an outdoor space with a view for guests that are not visiting the hotel for a wedding.

The location is stunning, and a perfect base for exploring Whitby and the surrounding areas. The room was comfortable and kept spotless. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially the restaurant staff who kindly adapted a couple of items on the menu for me. All of the food, both at breakfast and dinner, was tasty and fresh, with lots of choices at breakfast. We will definitely be back!

There was nothing to dislike about this hotel, although the lack of signage was a little confusing-we didn't know if we were in the right place at first- but I believe that the name of the hotel is changing, so it was understandable.

Comfortable room fabulous view plenty of storage luxurious towels excellent breakfast.Very attentive and efficient serving staff.Wonderful grounds to wander in that was really special.

WE felt awkward walking through the 2 weddings on our way to and from our room(210).WE felt their was more emphasis on weddings than on ordinary guests.A guest sitting room would have been nice and warm plates for the breakfast buffet.There were no information leaflets and some history of this beautiful house would have been good (We did find a book about it in the Station Tea Room!)We could not understand why the name has been changed to a slightly bizarre one!However we did really love staying in the hotel and it will remain a very happy memoryWonderful location

Although we were aware of the hotel being pet friendly, we were disappointed that dogs were allowed in the restaurant. We really didn't enjoy hearing a dog barking in the room we were eating in and to see dogs laying on the floor around the owners table. On the whole the dogs were mostly well behaved around the hotel and gardens. We feel the restaurant should be a no go area for dogs to ensure the comfort of all guests.

Location, views, friendly staff, dog friendly even though we didn't bring our dog as was Ruby Wedding Anniversary. Other guests also appeared to have similar opinions and were very nice people. Although we're no longer walking far due to age, disabilities etc this was a fantastic place to explore the many local paths, etc. for those more able. All staff were pleasant and very helpful. Although there were negatives, there were positive and can see this place only improving and will return with our dog and recommend to others. Also some great dog friendly pubs nearby although you do need a car.

Rooms were a little worn, eg, curtains hooks missing, tap leaking, and dated furniture. Main restaurant evening meal dissapointing but breakfast excellent! Staff were brilliant to quickly address any issues. Would have preferred to have a bar service on terrace instead of fetching our own drinks from the restaurant bar.

The staff were very helpful throughout. The room was amazing - a spacious bedroom with two large windows, both with sea views, one of which framed the rising sun in the morning perfectly. The bed was large and comfortable and the room had a very useful number of wall sockets in convenient places. The hotel as a whole is tastefully appointed and set in lovely grounds with a wonderful view looking out across Robin Hood's Bay. The dinner menu had an unusual range of items, but the ones we chose were very tasty. Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold offerings.

There is no signage at the hotel under either new or old name, which was a little confusing. It's a shame the meals were served in the back restaurant rather than in the dining room with views over the bay. The only entrance to the hotel is through a small, very stiff, revolving door which is less than ideal when pulling a suitcase.

Just wow. Beautiful large room comfy bed and seating to enjoy the spectacular view. The food was gorgeous. I had the moroccan salmon which was tasty delicious and good size portion and my Partner had fish and chips which was fresh succulent and lovely white haddock. The breakfast was a buffet style with options to have specials lots of variety. A good selection of coffees, juices and cereals. We were so lucky to have bumped into the mad chef to compliment him on his food who gave us a small tour of the areas that aren’t yet open which was absolutely stunning we would have loved to paid a little extra to have a special dining experience in one of these areas or been able to have had our dinner in the main restaurant with the beautiful views this would’ve been spectacular.

The only thing I would say regarding the serving dishes the breakfast if they would need lids so you had another hand to raise your plate without spilling things. We weren’t keen on the sausages but the rest was lovely.

The views were absolutely stunning, to be honest it’s worth the stay for that alone. The bed was comfy & big rooms. The food for dinner was really nice. The view from our room was beautiful. The outside area were you can sit out & have a drink made our stay.

When we arrived we were given a room that didn’t have a number & was for people with disabilities, I’m guessing that’s because we was on the ground floor. We also had to ask what time the breakfast was because we wasn’t told. The bar wasn’t open so had to walk through to the dining area to get our drinks. The bar also was covered in empty glasses.

We asked for a upper floor room with a view and that’s exactly what we got, the room was a odd shape due to it being in the roof but we liked it, the bed was comfortable, tea making facilities were good. Breakfast was good and well organised,plenty off choice but the sausages were not the best (very very dry)

Swimming pool was freezing cold to the point that my wife couldn’t get in. We found the prices for evening meals a bit high so we ate else were

This hotel is at the end of a 40mile endurance walk and after we completed this walk in one go we decided to treat ourselves with a stay here. First of all, the short walk up the well kept drive and into the lovely reception area was such a welcome sight and from then on every single member of staff made us feel incredibly welcome. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere where the staff are so friendly and helpful - it’s like they’re all one big family who are determined to create a wonderful hotel experience. The lovely lady at reception checked us in and even reserved us a table for our evening meal. Our room was spacious, a perfect temperature and clean - a slight over sight of no toiletries but that was rightened instantly with a sincere apology. Move on to the restaurant and our evening meal. We loved the restaurant and the staff were, once again, incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. The food was utterly perfect: tasty, well presented and the perfect portion size. I’d also add that breakfast was equally good too. All in all, a great stay which was enhanced by every single member of staff.
