The hotel is in a wonderful location and the public spaces have been renovated to a good standard. The staff could not have been more accomodating and friendly. The service was brilliant. The buffet breakfast was great We loved that we could walk to the cleveland way and cinder path from the hotel, and didn't need to use the car over the weekend.

My room was clean and spacious, but dated. It was overpriced but as the hotel is pivoting to focus more on weddings, they have a captive audience, because of the location. The evening food was a bit hit and miss. We found the food was actually better on the day when there was a wedding on (we weren't part of the wedding party). On the other evening when there were more guests in the restuarant, the food wasn't as good, but still OK. The wine is very expensive! And its a real shame that the wonderful gardens/views are off limits when theres a wedding on. Hopefully as they continue to renovate/improve the facilities they'll sort that out and create an outdoor space with a view for guests that are not visiting the hotel for a wedding.

We asked for a upper floor room with a view and that’s exactly what we got, the room was a odd shape due to it being in the roof but we liked it, the bed was comfortable, tea making facilities were good. Breakfast was good and well organised,plenty off choice but the sausages were not the best (very very dry)

Swimming pool was freezing cold to the point that my wife couldn’t get in. We found the prices for evening meals a bit high so we ate else were

The views were absolutely stunning, to be honest it’s worth the stay for that alone. The bed was comfy & big rooms. The food for dinner was really nice. The view from our room was beautiful. The outside area were you can sit out & have a drink made our stay.

When we arrived we were given a room that didn’t have a number & was for people with disabilities, I’m guessing that’s because we was on the ground floor. We also had to ask what time the breakfast was because we wasn’t told. The bar wasn’t open so had to walk through to the dining area to get our drinks. The bar also was covered in empty glasses.

This hotel is at the end of a 40mile endurance walk and after we completed this walk in one go we decided to treat ourselves with a stay here. First of all, the short walk up the well kept drive and into the lovely reception area was such a welcome sight and from then on every single member of staff made us feel incredibly welcome. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere where the staff are so friendly and helpful - it’s like they’re all one big family who are determined to create a wonderful hotel experience. The lovely lady at reception checked us in and even reserved us a table for our evening meal. Our room was spacious, a perfect temperature and clean - a slight over sight of no toiletries but that was rightened instantly with a sincere apology. Move on to the restaurant and our evening meal. We loved the restaurant and the staff were, once again, incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. The food was utterly perfect: tasty, well presented and the perfect portion size. I’d also add that breakfast was equally good too. All in all, a great stay which was enhanced by every single member of staff.

Maybe a little overpriced

Lovely interior design. Large light room overlooking the sea which was lovely. Beautifully furnished as was the rest of the hotel. Room was way too hot, as were the corridors. Huge bay window but only has one small opening at the top of the middle section of the bay. Needed to be able to have bigger windows to open in order to cool room down. Also, it made it feel a bit claustrophobic and I also questioned how safe it would be in a fire as you wouldn’t be able to exit via the window. Huge comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. The setting of the hotel and the outdoor space was amazing. Staff could have been friendlier and more attentive (the blonde haired lady in reception was very friendly and helpful). Restaurant was a bit disappointing- lacking ambience and so dark. Food was good though. Apart from the room being so hot, we really enjoyed our stay and woukd recommend it

Ravenscar is a bit out of the way but the location is excellent. Room very good except for shower over bath which is not good for older guests. Food and service both very good.

Wi-fi was very hit and miss and the TV was non-existent - 6 channels 5 of which were odd. No BBC at all. Toiletries in the bathroom varied from 1 shower gel and 3 shampoo on the 1st night to 4 shampoo and no shower gel on the 2nd. Also on the 1st night was a wedding party which turned out to be tolerable but could have been a nightmare - couldn't use the garden on a sunny evening and a few noisy guests

We had a fantastic stay at Raven Hall Hotel, from the moment we walked through the door. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The decor and small touches throughout the hotel were lovely. Our room was fabulous with great sea views out of both windows. It was extremely spacious with great furniture and furnishings. The bed was huge and very comfortable we had a good night's sleep. The bathroom was really clean with a shower and bath. The breakfast was fabulous lots of choice and really top quality ingredients we really enjoyed it. We would have loved to have stayed for longer and can't wait to return. We would highly recommend.

The only minor thing was soundproofing, but hopefully this might be fixed with the upcoming renovations.

Staff were so friendly. Especially reception who sorted out a room move for me. Views are incredible. Good quality items at buffet breakfast. Fish and chips were superb. A nice pint of Theakstons!

Room 108 was a bit jaded. Moved to 215 which was much nicer. TV problems! Limited number of channels. This is throughout hotel! New owners I'm told will be changing them. A member of staff told me they only cost £15 each and they have loads of problems! Electrics in both rooms were poor . Ist room had 4 lights out, second room when I put bedside light on it blew! The hotel is going through a big improvement programme and will be wonderful when finished this summer.

Loved the location. Best views of any hotel I've stayed at, just breathtaking. Close to the cinder path and Cleveland way. The new refurbishments in the hotel look really fabulous, so far, loved the reception and restaurant/bar area. Food was excellent, had evening meal which was outstanding and breakfast was very good. Staff were very nice, polite and so smartly dressed. Loved the fact that the hotel is dog friendly.

The ladies toilets downstairs had an unpleasant smell. Our reading lamp in the bedroom was loose and spun round. Very limited complimentary tea and coffee on offer in the room, one packet of biscuits is a bit stingy.

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. When we left, we were warned about the slippery road after the overnight snow.My wife and I lived in a 2-bed apartment. a room with a sea view for 3 nights in January. It was incredibly warm and cozy. Every morning we stayed at the window for a long time and admired the landscape outside the window. It's unforgettable!

I'm not a prude and I understand what 3 stars are. If you invest a lot of money in the renovation of this hotel, you can probably get a 5+ hotel. But we see a bathroom made of plastic, with very little space to accommodate shaving accessories, showers, and other things...Poor sound insulation (neighbors can be heard from time to time).
