Made to feel welcome straight away. Staff found me a spot to park my motorcycle, with a security floor anchor to lock to. They also had CCTV protecting the parking area. I booked a double room, which had plenty of space, a view over the sea and a great bathroom. I ate in-house for an evening meal, which was fine and had a drink. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. The whole hotel seemed spotlessly clean and the staff friendly. Took a long walk down the sea front which was very refreshing.

I didn't like having to leave, but alas, all good things come to an end.

I had a lovely three-night stay at Claxton. Redcar is a quiet town, and in this season, it was incredibly relaxing to sit by the sea and enjoy the breeze. Claxton is undoubtedly in the best location — just steps from the beach, and I could even see the sea right from my room window. The single room was compact but very clean and tidy, and housekeeping was prompt and efficient. The complimentary breakfast was definitely a highlight: it was generous, served over a good time range, and even offered gluten-free options, which meant I could start each day well-fed and ready to explore. Check-in and check-out were both smooth and convenient. I think booking directly through their website might be even easier next time. Redcar and Claxton have been among the most memorable places I’ve visited during my time in the UK. I’m already thinking of coming back for another holiday next year!

The staircase is a bit narrow, so carrying a large suitcase up might be a little tricky.

Everything was lovely, we had room 1, king sea view with Jacuzzi bath and separate shower, which I love having both. The room was light and airy with air conditioning too. The staff are lovely, always very helpful and friendly. We visit redcar to see family, our second stay at the Claxton, and many more to come. Food is delicious too, very yummy

Personally I think breakfast should be a little bit later/longer, 7-9am, I think it would be better even if it was extended just a little, say 9.30, I like a bit of a lazy morning when I'm away, I felt a bit rushed. Maybe next time not book breakfast and have it later somewhere I guess is an option

Location was good, very close to the town center, and just opposite the beach, lots of shops and restaurants around the hotel, high street is close by, room was clean, linen and bedding clean, room very tight, just a foot from either side of the bed, staff very friendly, quick response, free parking available at the back of the hotel, had requested to park after check out and they were OK with it, breakfast was good and quite a plate full, enjoyed it

room was on the second floor, steps are quite steep, I am a heart patient and struggle a bit, bathroom was very tiny and the wash basin small, water spilled on the floor regularly, there was a noise from the toilet drains, which I thought was strange, appeared that the bathrooms had been recently refurbished, should have updated, keeping different types of visitors in mind,

Upon entrance to the property it is very welcoming seeing some of the old picture and new spanning 40 years. There is a beautiful stain glass window as you go into the lounge area The property is very clean, tidy and well presented. You can see the love for detail and cleanliness in the property from the outset The room that we had was a sea view and had some spectacular furniture with great carvings The bed was very comfy and I slept like a baby all night

The property had been I. The same family for 50years. The owner was a very lovely woman down to earth and very helpful as to are the staff. They are all a great working unit and a credit to the property

The hotel was very clean. My room was compact and cosy. The bathroom with shower was tiny but adequate and the water very hot. Bed was comfortable as was a chair in the room. Useful supply of hanging space and pegs. The room heated up quickly when radiator on. Elegant red bricked house close to the sea. Simple dining area and bar with fresco of a trawler reminding us of its seaside community and fishing industry. Attractive ruby stained glass in main door adding a homely but elegant touch. Fully cooked breakfast if required. Good choice of relaxed suppers. Downstairs toilet useful in the hallway. Keys given to residents for front door if returning at night so providing independence. Hotel a little like a private club, quiet and peaceful, amid the noisy bars and pizza restaurants nearby. There’s a welcoming fish and chip shop round the corner. Good welcome on arrival. Homely and friendly. Felt safe on my own and good base for trips into Saltburn and elsewhere including Whitby by bus x4, with stop opposite the hotel.

Area prices for accommodation seem quite expensive.

Excellent hotel ,comfortable,maintained to a high standard. Staff looked after you to make sure that your stay was comfortable and you wanted for nothing. Food was freshly cooked, tasty and well prepared. Breakfast there was plenty to choice from and excellent portions. All public rooms were very clean and comfortable. This hotel is run to a high standard and I would recommend this property . The evening meals were varied and plenty of freshly made meals.

Nothing it was excellent

breakfast was delicious, room was really clean and the girl cleaning the rooms could not have been more helpful. All staff were lovely though. Our room was deluxe double and even had air con that was definitely an added bonus when we were there as the days were very warm.

Breakfast would have been better if it were a little longer, would have really liked to have had a lie in with being on holiday but if you wanted to make it for the breakfast downstairs you had to be up early.

I've stayed at the hotel multiple times this year to visit a family member who has gone into a care home, both alone and with my husband. I know what I'm getting - it's a handy location for local facilities and it's safe and clean. Staff are great, I like the breakfast options and the fact it's included in the room rate, and if I don't want to go out I can get dinner in the bar.

I wish breakfast was served a bit later on a weekend but that's the only thing I can think of and it's hardly a problem.

I would definitely stay here again , the staff was very polite and helpful. The food was so so good homemade specials and at a really good affordable price. We were welcomed with a friendly face . We were late for breakfast but we were still given what we wanted. I cannot fault anything the facilities was the best, if I had to nic pick it would be the heating was noisy but after 5 mins it didn’t bother me .
